The Water Wheel Tavern
Water Wheel Tavern is an historic Bucks County landmark originally built in 1714 by John Dyer, an English Quaker. It existed for centuries as a water wheel driven grist mill, and later hosted both a post office and a general store. The mill was transformed into an inn and tavern with the repeal of prohibition in 1933.

Many dishes were not available and we weren't told that until late. Food we did get was ok at best.
No propane for heaters. It was ridiculous on a Saturday night
Our family met on a Friday night. We were a party of 6. We were promptly greeted and seated. The service was attentive and our food was delicious. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was great. The drink selections were extensive and there was live music which was quite good. We had an enjoyable experience. And although we live nearly an hour away in NJ would consider coming back again.
We were very much looking forward to getting out and having an enjoyable dinner .Our reservation was for Saturday, April 10th at 7:30 P.M Our waitress could not have been any nicer if she tried, however her hands were tied with a kitchen that at best was in complete dissaray. It was literally after 9:00 P.M before wer received our entrees. Yes, over90 minutes later. During the ninety minute wait , not a single manager was to be found ..You would at least expect someone to walk the floor explaining the reason for the delay ..sadly, surrounding tables experienced similar delays and were quick to complain..
We hung in there but honestly...90 minutes is a Very long time to wait..
My takeaway is that if Saturday was an indication, the Waterwheel is really not ready to handle any kind of volume . Maybe a slower lunchtime visit might have yielded a different experience.. maybe I'm being too gracious. All I know is that the complete lack of supervision is unforgivable ... We were probably one of 7 tables left in no man's land waiting for somebody to explain what exactly was going on ? I suspect, if we stayed we would still be waiting for the manager. Feel very bad for the waitress who is left to explain the unexplainable .. I chose to separate her from the bad experience..I'm not so sure others would be as forgiving.
Perfect outdoor spot for dining!
Dinner with my wife
The Water Wheel is very consistent
Great food and service, a little too dark had to use phone flash lights to see menu.
Service very good, good ok
Easter brunch - selection provided buffet opportunities without the buffet. We were able to order a platter of cheese fruits muffins danish and buns for the table. The entree selection was varied and well priced. My eggs Benedict was done beautifully.
Great service and great food. I highly recommend the cheesesteak egg rolls!
We were in a high traffic table, our menus showed up late, we gave up waiting for my beer and we were expecting a better menu selection compared to the competition. Our waitress was very good under the circumstances even though the bill still had the original beer price to which she said that's OK. We have eaten there before and based on the overall experience, we will take this one off our list.
Always a fun time. Great food and service. Music is great but can be a little too loud
Best meal I’ve had out in a year!! Bonus music and atmosphere.
Hasn’t been there in quite a few years. Food was good, but way expensive for what we got. We ordered scallops wrapped in bacon and there were 4 tiny pieces and two of them didn’t even have scallop in the middle.! Dish was mostly cous cous. Soups were good, but $9 a bowl? A bit pricy! For what we paid for 4 people, I would have expected to leave feeling full.
First time dining here. Pleasantly surprised how nice: decor, bar area, food presentation, draft beer selection, and menu variability. Bacon wrapped scallops app very good, and the salmon entree portion was very large and done perfectly. Only disappointment was the Shepherds Pie special, though very tasty, it could have had more of the meat/potatoes blend in the carved out soda bread bowl (which wasn't carved out as much as you would like). It was almost like you were getting a cup of meat mix placed on top of a 6-7" dia. round baked soda bread. Plus, placed around the bread bowl were more slices of soda bread. Carrots or some other veggie perhaps might have been a better choice. However, if you're into carbs, then that dish is for you. Re: service, it couldn't have been better!!! Lindsay was an ace, and very attentive! Will definitely be going back soon.
Service from our guy Jeffy was great 5 plus stars.
I feel for the prices charged servings could have been bigger.
The prices on the menu online that we were told to look at were different,we were charged more.
The food was good.
The food was good. We will definitely go back. I had the chicken panini and it was good, but will probably try something different next time like what my boyfriend had. He had the bacon wrapped scallops and risotto. I had a taste and LOVED it! Our server Nina was AMAZING. She was great. Gave us a big hello when we first got there that set the tone. She was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Love the atmosphere. So cozy and relaxing. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Great service, good food. Broad selection menu complemented with specials.
This was our first visit to the Waterwheel Tavern. We experienced a casual pub environment for lunch. My wife had a Rubin sandwich which see liked very much, however, her rum & Diet Coke had way too much ice and little rum & Diet Coke. I had tacos & onion rings. The latter were really good - large & not heavily breaded. But my tacos were made with corn tortillas that were over cooked (microwaved) which made them stiff and plastic like. Would have preferred soft tortillas or corn ones that weren't stale. Nevertheless, we had a good time and we will probably return when we are looking for a friendly pub. Good draft beer selection.
Fantastic service and food was delicious, highly recommend the burger and cheesesteak egg rolls
Our lunch was great and our server Zach was very attentive and friendly! I enjoyed my drink and we both enjoyed our meal! I booked thinking we were having brunch. Due to covid they are not serving brunch on Sundays. We were disappointed, but assuming it’s a miscommunication with open table.
A group of us were there for my birthday and our waitress was excellent, she was on top of everything and made it a very fun experience! The food and cocktails were wonderful as well!
Food, drinks, and atmosphere were all fantastic. Great tavern. Will definitely be returning
Perfect date night, delicious food, and great live entertainment! The food presentation was awesome!!!! Scallops were yum!
The Shrimp Stack was amazing.
Very good Caesar salad and crab cakes. Will be back
Seats were as promised. There was live music in the dining area which was unexpected but very good. Service was outstanding so overall very good experience.
Excellent!! Enjoyed live music for the first time in a year!!
What a great find. Big enough that you can feel very comfortable during COVID. Everyone is well space out. Great food. Great drinks. Great service.
Dinner was wonderful, the service was wonderful and the Ambiance with the live music was wonderful one of our favorite places for dinner
Got the Valentine's day special for dinner tonight, was overall non plussed. The shrimp cocktail was overcooked, and the desert cake was unfortunately dry.
As always, everyone from the hostess to the bartender was awesome! Friendly and attentive. Best Chicken Caesar Salad in town. The wine selection is really nice. And the martinis are always delish! ;) My favorite place to dine no matter the occasion - like cheers, where everyone knows your name!
This was a perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my husband. Everything was delicious.
amazing all around
Great selection. Everything we ordered was delicious including their special dessert!
Waterwheel is consistently good, love the scallops wrapped in bacon! It was a burger night and the burgers are awesome. Live entertainment was a nice touch as well, felt good to get out and our server was a doll.
Service was great. Our hot scallops appetizer came out cold, and we asked for another, they initially only brought out two of the four, but then fixed it. Corn couscous was excellent. They really went out of their way to fix the app issue. Dessert was incredible.
Great food and service and so clean!
The music was so good.
