We recently had a business dinner and had a great time.
We were at this restaurant twice this weekend. The first time was amazing in every way. Last night was a disappointment. My sister in laws steak was over cooked, brother in laws burger was over cooked, bar drinks took forever and service was very cold and unfriendly. And on top of that the waitress waited next to my husband while he signed the credit card slip (seemingly to endure she got a tip). Disappointing last night. If we return soon we will ensure we don’t have that waitress again (she’s there all the time).
Everything was amazing! We love this place.
Great outdoor patio to have drinks & eat. Our server was pretty bad. Ordered 4 drinks from bar. 3 bottled beers & 1 martini. 2 beers came after 5 minutes. 1 beer another 5 minutes. Martini AFTER we ordered food. Appetizer was just 2 soft pretzels- did come out in normal amount of time, however both were undercooked & ice cold in middle (barely thawed from frozen). Our food came out less than 3 minutes after pretzels came & she had the nerve to ask if we were finished with the 1 pretzel that we were still eating because it had just come out & other food was being served. Dinner food was okay- no complaints. We would come back- but probably just sit at bar though.
Lovely evening to dine outside. Deck furniture a little uncomfortable for 2 hour meal, but to be expected for patio furniture. Wait staff friendly & attentive. Food & drinks tasty with fair portions. Only negative on evening is vocalist has too large/loud of speaker system. While her voice is pleasant, it's very difficult to have a dinner conversation without feeling like shouting to dining guest at a average square table for 4. If you have larger parties near by they also shout to their dining guest. Suggest letting
her voice carry as enjoyable background experience vs problematic dining entertainment.
Had a family dinner for 8 of us including 4 children. The food was good, the waitress was good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We have been to Waterwheel Tavern many times, and will go back
Appetizers and dinners were excellent. Desserts not so good. Few choices and little imagination. Service was great! Very cordial and helpful. The restaurant manager even came by our table mid-meal to ask how we were doing and if we were happy with our selections. We met friends at the Tavern and they were impressed with the friendly atmosphere and the abundant parking also.
We always have a good dinner there, we usually get sandwiches, fries and a glass of wine. Everything is prepared nicely. A bit expensive for what you get, but the atmosphere is very nice.
We always love the Waterwheel! Especially the mussels. Enjoy the outdoors, but music was pretty loud.
Great lunch and service
French onion soup was TDF. To die for!
Good every time
Awesome waiter bob. Thank you. First time coming and will see you again!
Wonderful experience- the live music was a bonus!
Always a great meal!
Fish and chips was better looking than it tasted.
Very greasy and I think oil was old.
Mussels were very good.
I love the Water Wheel & have been there for lunch, dinner & now brunch. Personally, I think the BEST part is the outdoor patio. It is so relaxing, away from the street & spacious. For brunch, we decided to go a little later so that we could hang at the patio after, which opens at 2pm (the brunch is served in the mail area of the restaurant). The brunch was lovely & the fact that it was quiet made it more appealing. The food was nicely presented, was fairly ample, despite us being there at the tail end of the brunch period & the staff was VERY friendly & accommodating. The food was tasty with a nice variety. Adult brunch drinks are an added fee, so we opted to have one on the patio after. It was a beautiful day & I was with 4 other friends, so overall - a great afternoon!!!
The food was good, typical bar food but a step up. Though, the music was quite lame. It sounded like the same monotone crap over and over. The waitress was nice and on top of things, but she made us feel rushed... trying to enjoy a night out, not run the races sweetheart!
We’ve been here 2x. The first time was amazing. This last time was not. Our waitress was slower than, well as they say, molasses is putting it mildly. We waited over 30 minutes to get our checks. When I told her I didn’t like the fries she suggested she was disturbed. I even requested rice in place. And she literally billed me for the rice an extra $4.50 plus tax. In spite of that everything else was nice.
If you are looking for a beer and burger place, it fits the bill. Dinners are just Ok. Fish tacos were not good. Service was good. Back room, where I have been seated all three times I have been there, is dark.
The staff was friendly and welcoming and the service was wonderful. Delicious food, family-friendly atmosphere, and comfortable seating areas.
Place is really nice and service was good. Went for a brunch and food wasn’t all that impressive and the staff has no where to really stand so they kind of hover over you while you’re getting your food. I guess I was just hoping for more options and less generic food at a brunch.
Good place for a casual dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed the music around the bar. A bit expensive for a couple of sandwiches and a glass of wine, but overall we enjoyed the evening.
This was our first time in several years at this restaurant. Sat outside on patio. Service was uncomfortably slow. Half the time we could not find our server. Food brought by someone else, acceptable, but server never checked back to ask if we were OK or wanted/needed anything else. Food was average, which is surprising in Doylestown where there so many competitors who really deliver great ambience and superior menu choices. Obviously will not be returning.
The food was fabulous. We live that you make healthy food absolutely delicious and beautiful presentation!
I would recommend. We went for a family dinner of 9 and all had a good meal.
Super great staff - friendly and accommodating.
The tables were so close together, it was hard to get in and out, had to ask the other table to move to move chair. The food was okay, however, I was hoping for more. Had to wait for ingredients for omelette and for waffles to be made when there really were not a lot of people there. Overall, it was a nice brunch, but could be better
Have always been a fan of the Water Wheel. Unfortunately was very underwhelmed during visit last night. First off the server was not friendly or engaging. Not a hello or smile when she first approached our table...just 'can I get you something to drink'. Then our meal...my friend ordered crabcake sandwich which she has ordered in past and always loved...not so much this time. The usual all crab was unenhanced with filler. Very disappointed. I had the gilded grilled cheese which was ok. But...both meals were brought to our table lukewarm. There was a large party downstairs so whether this contributed to our disappointment...could be. The server and then the manager did offer to get my friend something else but she declined. In my opinion something should have been taken off the bill at least for the crabcake. The manager did tell us that they changed purveyors where they purchased the crabmeat. To save money maybe?? Who knows. Will probably go back again since, as stated earlier, always had a great experience in the past. But if disappointed again, may be our last visit to this establishment.
Onion soup was good. How are the scissors sanitized? Cheese steak sandwich too dry...did not finish..would nor order again. Grilled cheese very tasty. Cannot speak for the 4 others in our group. The bar was very nice with enjoyable entertainment. We did request seating in the back room so that we could easily enjoy our conversation. FYI. We were there when a significant downpour hit. The large window had significant leaking. Puddles were on the sill.
The restaurant was CLOSED after we had confirmed a reservation for Monday 6/13 --
Food was delicious and the setting was very pretty.
We asked for a quiet table and were seated in the middle of the room. They said the quiet table "under the cow" was reserved. The music was very loud making everyone speak very loud. I couldn't even hear the server standing right next to me. No one sat at the reserved table the entire time we were there. The Manhattan we received was so full of ice, two small sips and it was just a glass of ice. Casey, our server was very good.
Love the atmosphere at this place.
I would only recommend the Water Wheel to a friend for lunch. The evening meals were extremely noisy with children screaming and crying.
Had a live singer who was pretty good. Food was great, waited a little long for my second drink, but otherwise service was very good. Very clean, nice ambiance.
Went for the Prime Rib special on Thursday night. Great piece of meat however sides (mashed potatoes & green beans) were under seasoned and boring. Would have been nice to have a salad included. Just a bit more effort would have made this meal excellent. Service was spot on.
This is a gem of a place. Wish we lived a bit closer to it. Had a great night of food, drink and song. Loved the beautiful bar area with its exposed beams and wood finish. Wait staff and others were very attentive to us all night. Food was awesome! The best cheesesteak eggrolls, with a fondue that is out of this world. Braised pork flatbread was tremendous, and the cheese plate was huge. Dan Ward played every request that was made, and kept the atmosphere alive. Definitely highly reccommended!
Great restaurant, food and atmosphere.
