The Waterfront Restaurant - Anna Maria
We had a wonderful evening. The food was delicious!
We had a very enjoyable experience and plan to dine here again when we return to Anna Maria Island.
The Waterfront had become our favorite restaurant on Anna Maria. This time was not one of our better experiences. Our waiter might have been fairly new. He was overbearing and hard sell. We think he just needs better training. When taking our order he never asked if we had been there before. He just suggested the specials and the most expensive offerings on the menu without asking any questions. He tried to upsell on everything. It was very uncomfortable. Not what we're used to at all. My wife had the scallops which were delicious. I had the Mahi with a sort of lobster salad on top. I would definitely change the dish. The lobster was the inside of the smallest claws I've ever seen, with no taste. Putting 3 of them on the dish with a rather small Mahi and purple rice for $30 something dollars is way below the Waterfronts usual. We still love the Waterfront but it was not one of our better nights.
Lovely restaurant; great food and excellent service, one of our favourite places to dine on the island.
Service was incredibly slow - we sat for over an hour waiting for our meal. Once it finally arrived there was no apology or explanation.
We have been to The Waterfront on numerous occasions and usually everything is 5 star rating. However, on this occasions we waited a good 15 minutes before our server appeared. The service was then still not the friendly, informative and professional level we have come to expect. However, we will return to The Waterfront again in a couple of weeks when hopefully, the service matches the standard of food etc.
Food was outstanding. Service was also outstanding, especially our server, Bridget. Reservation seating was prompt at requested time. Definitely will return, even at a 50 minute drive.
It was very good
First visit . The bartenders were outstanding and our waiter was very good. Tje inside noise level was high and tables seemed messy. Sat outside and our meal was delicious
It was again a wonderful evening at this nice restaurant!
Delicious food, great cocktail, the nicest waitress and beautiful atmosphere! We love it and consider this as our first place to go to after arriving on the Island!
Food was delicious. Their fried shrimp is the best. Our waitress was very friendly and our food came out pretty fast. Didn’t wait long to be seated or for our meals. Took my mom there for her birthday and we were both very pleased.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner there. Our server Matt was great. Will be back soon.
Seated on time
Food was very good
Server was attentive
Every dish was delicious! Will definitely return. Highly recommend.
Good food good drinks
We have dined at the Waterfront multiple times over the past several years. Lately I’ve noticed a change in the staff and overall service level. This visit was the worst experience we’ve had for this restaurant and probably the worst of any restaurant and we dine out several times a week. First we had a drink at the bar which was fine, however the bartender seemed preoccupied and not too attentive. We were then seated at our table on time and enjoyed a nice charcuterie platter. From then on it went south, the dinners took a very long time to arrive and two were cold and had to be sent back. Then the waiter knocked over a glass of red wine on the table and splashed on the dress of a member of our party, he was apologetic to a degree, however; the table cloth wasn’t changed and I had to request the meal be deducted from the bill. Finally, they began vacuuming the floor while we were finishing our dinners and to top it off, members of the waitstaff were in a verbal argument using profane language that we could clearly overhear. There was definitely a lack of management in the restaurant which I have noticed during several other visits. The view is nice if you are new to the area, and that’s about it. Use to be a great restaurant, not anymore.
One of our favorite restaurants on the island! Always consistent with food and atmosphere.
The service and food were gr.
Always good. The rib eye was outstanding. Never fails to deliver good food
Disappointing, overall. Service was slow - took about 10 minute to even be greeted by server. Appetizer arrived before drinks (I HATE when that happens). Food was average, but drinks were pretty good. I avoided risking an entree after I realized our appetizer was mediocre. Salad with grilled chicken was decent but my husband's grouper cakes were lots of stuffing, little grouper . If you are looking for fine dining, I'd go elsewhere. For a casual meal, stick to cocktails and a burger on the patio on a pleasant winter day and you'll be fine.
Wonderful night at the Waterfront. The service was excellent and the food very good. The calamari was outstanding (best we’ve ever had) as was my wife’s scallops. My blackened tuna was a little to much spice and a bit dry. Our waitress was especially friendly. We’ll definitely be coming back. Be sure to plan ahead and make a reservation as it is very popular.
Best place on the island.
Love this place! We always get a great meal with excellent service!
As always the food service and setting are very good indeed. Looking forward to our next visit
Overall just an average meal. Nothing that I would want again in the future when dining in the area. Lobster bisque didn’t have enough sherry or in it, the seared tuna was tough and seemed like it was frozen. Definitely not the fresh tuna I was expecting and I eat a lot of tuna. We didn’t even finish it. Asked about the Brazilian seafood stew and was told not to order it, I really wanted to try it. Instead I got the Mahi at the servers recommendation. I guess I had my mind set on the stew since the Mahi fell flat with me and the other diner at the table. We drove up from Siesta at recommendation from a friend. That friend got smacked.
Highlight of the meal was the bar service and drinks at the bar. If you find yourself at the waterfront restaurant, hit the bar for drinks and an app.
Absolutely excellent! I couldn’t have loved our meal more.
Food is always delicious! Our server was Erica and she was wonderful! We had a 1 1/2 year old with us and Erica was prompt with taking and delivering our order! Which is always appreciated when dining with a little one!
We live locally on Anna Maria island eat here quite often.
Food and service is impeccable. Our server Melody was excellent.
Celebrating the annual beach trip!
It's been a while since we have dined here and we definitely will return. Overall experience was outstanding but the calamari was over the top. One of only a couple "craft" bars on the island. Enjoyed the gin and tonic
We had a table booked for 20:15, sat straight away as we arrived, our hostess took the drinks order and appetiser order and left us look at mains in the meantime. All food was great, some of us shared the starters as to not being too full!! Fully recommend the Seared tuna, baked Brie and calamari. For mains we had steak, chicken and the Mahi which were all delicious 😋 a couple of us had steak to take out which was no bother. A lovely relaxed atmosphere, which we have visited many times and have never been disappointed. Coming from the uk we always make a special trip to this restaurant when we are in AMI.
Excellent food. Beachfront setting. Comfortable environment. Friendly service.
Prices a little on the high side, but an enjoyable experience for the money.
Our service and the ambiance was great. The food was disappointing. When we ordered the ribeye it was tough and not cooked according to the order. The clams in a cream sauce was misrepresented. Soup was amazing! Our bottle of wine was tasty as well! I loved this place for nostalgic reasons on this visits. I hope the next time I will enjoy my visit for the food as well!
Our second visit in two weeks, fabulous food, great service, the only downside was a table of very noisy American women next to us who were getting glared at by just about everyone in the restaurant. Would highly reccomend
Meals were delicious! And then we found out that our pup can also come with us so we will definitely be coming back
We had made a reservation through Open Table, and requested outdoor seating. We arrived a few minutes early, and was told by the young girl that we would have to wait a few minutes for our table to be cleared up. I have had to wait for reservations in other cities and at large restaurants but never longer then 5-10 minutes. We waited for 30 minutes as other guests, who were known by the official hostess, showed up, were directed to the bar, and then came out to tables. We also heard the official hostess tell the young girl to delete our reservation, as it was an online reservation. Some of these guests did not have reservations, and were a party of 2 like us. We questioned the hostess, and her response was very rude and abrupt. She said they had reservations, which they did not. She continued to be rude and abrupt, so we asked to speak to a manager. He came out and apologized for the delay. We told him what was going on, and he stated "That's not what I was told". He said that the outdoor seating, was first come, first serve. I indicated that neither Open Table nor their website indicated that. I just checked both sites and that is not mentioned. After a wait of 45 minutes, we were seated.
The view and ambiance were awesome, and the sunset was beautiful.
Our waitress was very knowledgeable, but also very slow. At times she appeared to be more interested in selling her jewelry. There was a delay in getting everything, placing our order, getting our drinks, and our various courses. Fortunately, we weren't in a hurry and the view was awesome, but it was long.
The food was good and there was plenty of it. The lobster bisque had very small pieces of lobster in it, and if it had had chunks of lobster, it would have been over the top. The remainder of the meal was good, but we have had better in the area.
Please note, I am usual a very easy review online, having only given 2 negative reviews. This whole evening was ruined by the attitude of the official hostess.
Great local restaurant, can always count on a great dinner. Lovely setting
I was very dissapointed they did not have crabcakes. When I looked at their menu online it listed crabcakes. They said crab is too expensive.
Excellent food and service. Waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant personality. View was beautiful.
Waterfront has been a special place for our family for several years, especially a place my parents had always enjoyed. The food is exceptional, the service excellent. A great value and experience.
