The Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe Ratings and Reviews
I had the crab louis. It was small, the louis dressing was hideen under a lettuce leaf on one end of the plate, and there was a non-descript itaian dressing on the rest of the plate. Is this intentional? Did you run out of Louis? I like your staff and your drinks, but the food over all is decidedly mediocre, I am sorry to say.
Hard to find a better view than here. Oakland Bridge looks magnificent in the background. We had the scallops and the sea bass, and both were incredibly tasty! Just note that if you are *really* hungry, the entrees by themselves may likely not fill your belly, so be prepared to get an appetizer + side. Great spot though, and super friendly and professional staff, would definitely go back sometime!
NewYork steak was good choice but scallops seafood got some little rock hurt my teeth when I bite it. Server blamed that was sea salt, but it hard like a rock almost break my teeth. Lobster was not fresh or over cooked it stick to the shell so well. Nice view to see the Bay bridge.
We took the last reservation which was at 9:00pm. I will say we were 15 mins late but the rest of our party was on time. We did not get complimentary bread until a half hour in, the server asked us if we were ready to order 4 times in 15 mins and we were basically rushed out of the restaurant. This was very apparent when they started stacking chairs all around us before 11:00pm. The only positive was the bay bridge view during dinner. This restaurant is considered "high end" and for the price you are paying for the food I better have darn good service. The food was good not great and the overall service experience wasn't good. I would not recommend this restaurant and they could use some schooling on proper service from a high end restaurant. Oh, and there was no music of any kind, just servers walking around you waiting for you to leave. Also, if you don't want someone staying late and enjoying their dinner, then don't have a 9:00pm reservation and expect us to be done in an hour.
Anniversary dinner, overall experience was fair. The staff started cleaning and preparing to close around 9:30pm, while we were still eating. Atmosphere was poor despite a great view of the Bay Bridge. Food was excellent and our server was decent but also got busy doing closing chores. Very disappointing considering it’s a Saturday night.
This was my first visit to Waterfront, it was pleasant and the views outstanding. The food was OK, as was the service. The wine list was also OK but lacked international variety.
With so many delicious restaurants in SF it is unlikely I'll return. But the view of the Bay Bridge at night was memorable.
We were 8-10 min late for our reservation. We had to sit for 10-15 min more. OK, but then after being seated no waiter came to take any order for at least another 10 min, and then it would take a very long time to get anything after. The waiter who ultimately appeared was very nice, but what could have been a pleasant 1 1/4 dinner turned out to be 2 hrs (and this is not one of those times when one wants to dine leisurely over many hours). The only saving grace is the tastiness of the food.
I absolutely LOVE the Waterfront!! The food is amazing! I have not had a bad meal. The mash potatoes with crab…simple divine! In addition, please note I do not like Lobster, but once I tasted the Lobster Mac and Cheese..., all I can say is Damn, Damn, Damn make you want to slap somebody! Let us not forget a couple of my favorites the fried calamari and the Myers Lemon cheesecake. I take my out of town guest there and they like it as much as I do and, they always ask to go back when they come to town. Thank you Mr. Waterfront for a spectacular Restaurant with FABULOUS views. Five Stars and 2 thumbs up!!
My husband, sister-in law and I went to lunch at the Waterfront during Fleet week to see the flights.... good vantage point. Food was excellent (sea bass especially) and the service was prompt. The wine was delicious and they didn't rush us at all. So we got to spend a couple hours catching up, watching the planes and enjoying the food as well as the view.
Too expensive food is ok it there is much better in San Francisco. Service mediocre at best. Trying to be a fancy restaurant but lack the class and ability. The staff does not take celiac gluten free serious as I was contaminated by this restaurant. Very loud in the "tank" and the chairs are very uncomfortable. 250.00 for a family of 4.
The Waterfront is a place of elegance, yet it is unpretentious. It's my favorite place for lunch in the city. Staff is attentive but won't hover. Food is outstanding, especially the prosciutto-wrapped prawns and wonderful Seafood Louie. I thank the owner or manager for attention to detail and excellent service every time I go in.
You're paying for the view. The food, while good, isnt any better or worse than any of the other nice restaurants with a similar view on the Embarcadero. The portions are mediocre though filling. Like any upscale restaurant all the food is a la carte so your sides are additional. The seafood, which is why we went here, was superb. Lobster Risoto was lovely, crab mashed potatoes was very nice, seafood was really great! However you're still paying for the view because this seafood could have been significantly less expensive a few blocks away from the Embarcadero and likely the same quality.
It's a really nice place but since Im just a tourist to SF, Ill definitely check out other spots before I return.
