The Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe
"Breathtaking Bay Bridge views from every table, both indoors and from the "tented patio", makes this Embarcadero seafooder a wonderful place to relax and absorb the beautiful setting, while the Californian fare is deemed well executed."

Great place to take friends and enjoy the views of the Bay bridge and San Francisco waterfront with The Ferry Building nearby. The food and service are excellent. Minimal noise so you can actually enjoy talking with your friends. It is a magical place when the lights from the bridge and harbor come on.
It was Easter so it was fairly busy. Waiter was very nice and caring, but not on top of his game. Forgot things, was not thorough. Food over all was pretty good. Scallops were amazing: large and tender. Lobster Risotto was also good (would have been nice to see a larger piece or two as garnish to make it worth the price. But brussels sprouts were soggy and not super flavorful, I had asked for the pancetta to be crispy on my prawns and it was presented that way but when I turned them over the pancetta was near raw. I sent it back and instead of making a whole new plate, they crisped the pancetta on the already throughly cooked prawns which caused them to over cook and come out stiff and bent. Still and over all good experience. Cannot beat ocean views.
Excellent restaurant beautiful views, great food and very helpful staff
Very laid back place to have dinner. Food was good but basic. The view was pretty
We have eaten here a number of times, but this time was not as good. We had relatives visiting from Japan and wanted them to be able to see the lights on the Bay Bridge during dinner. We made reservations and arrived 5 minutes early. We had to wait almost 20 minutes for our table, which was difficult as we had two toddlers with us, ages 3 and 1. When we finally got seated, our server did not come over to even offer water for another 15 minutes. Dinner was ordered and served fairly quickly, but some of the extras took a long time, like my vodka gimlet that I ordered when we got our water. Everything seemed to take much longer that it should have.
Made reservations for 6 PM and they seated us on their covered porch, what a view. I had the wood fire grilled lobster, great smoky flavor. My wife had the cioppino which was chock full of seafood. Wonderful experience.
Brought my girlfriend here for her Birthday Diner and overall my experience was amazing! I asked for a surprise for her birthday and they did not disappoint. Delicious food, excellent service, and a perfect view made the perfect night.
Great place and excellent and fresh seefood
Were lucky to get a large table near the sea
My wife and I visited Waterfront during our trip to San Francisco. We were treated like VIPs by the staff. Everyone bent over backwards and were very nice. The food was great, we had the crab and the scallops for dinner. We had the oyster on the half shell for an app. They were okay but there was a lot of shell in the oyster. The view was outstanding! We would definitely go back!
The Waterfront is the special place my friends and I go to celebrate our birthdays together. The staff is so welcoming and always make us feel so special. The food is fantastic and the view of the Bay bridge is spectacular. This restaurant is one of my all time favorite places in San Francisco!!!
Waiters seemed super distracted and despite the dining room being not at all full we were sat next to a table of four that at some points were a table of 8 lousy drunk business types. They kept migrating back and forth and bumping into us. I think most restaurants in this city expect you to complain when something is wrong but you should never have to say anything, things should just be done right. My linguine was 100% microwaved since it was radiating steam off of it for a few minutes after being on the table. Properly pan tossed pasta does not stay that hot for that long. Food was under seasoned and geared towards tourists. The chef takes no chances and is far too safe.
The fish and vegetables were cooked beautifully, and the view was exceptional. The only reason not everything received an Outstanding rating is that I've been to restaurants with amazingly original artistic combinations. Appetizers and entrees were very good and nicely presented, though without extraordinary food artwork.
The server did not come to our patio table for 15 minutes. We had to go to the bar and order our cocktails. He said his shift was over but did not offer to help us get our drinks. The bartender was extremely rude and insulting. The food was mediocre! This was my third time there and the last.
We had a table with a wonderful view, the service was excellent and our dinner was exceptional!
Outstanding service and seafood. Beautiful view of the Bay Bridge. Clam chowder was top I’ve had yet and I even lived in Boston!
Great Restaurant. View , Food and Service were great!
Average food, rushed service let down a great view and ambience
Excellent dîner avec des attentions pour les personnes fêtent anniversaire de mariage et anniversaire.
Une seule critique: véranda très bruyante et mal chauffée.
We had a very nice seafood dinner. We had come a few days earlier and had the rock shrimp/calamari appetizer and salmon, both of which were excellent. The appetizer was one of the best preparations of this dish we ever had. On this trip, good, but not quite as excellent as before. Other dishes were all very good. Service was good both times and the overall experience was very pleasant
Really delicious food, and nice view of the bay!
Great view of the water and Bay Bridge. Good food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff.
Wait was very long to bring our entrees, but each entree was very delicious when it arrived. The end of our meal was a little spoiled by the fact that the waiter, and apparently the kitchen, was shocked and a little upset by a request for a cheese board instead of sweet dessert, and chef was completely unable to rustle up some "cheesy comestibles". Shocking in a high-end SF restaurant that a cheese board isn't on the menu, and the waiter would be vaguely unpleasant about the request!
The location of this restaurant is excellent, with parking across the street and an amazing nighttime view of the Bay Bridge in all its lit-up artistic glory.
Since it was my birthday, I was surprise to receive a complimentary glass of prosecco . A very nice dinning experience.
Salmon wasn't done and sent back. Server ignored us, empty water glasses and other beverages. Sole' had bones in it. Ambiance was nice.
We had the Seafood with Pasta, It is displayed on the website and looked great but wasn't even close to the picture. Staff was great.
Great restaurant with gorgeous view. The service is great as all waiters have a great knowledge of the menu and wine list. I had the Salmon with mashed potatoes and sun dried tomatoes. The tomatoes were very tasty and complimented the well cooked Salmon. I started with a margarita, but it was way too sweet and not fresh so I would not recommend that. Definitely make a reservation and ask for a window seat.
Excellent night dining at the Waterfront Restaurant. Wonderful wine list, Very fresh and delicious oysters and Everyone loved what they ate. Service was attentive Thank you for making a 40 Anniversary very special- plus who doesnt love looking at the bay bridge lit up with lights- WHAT a GREAT VIEW. Amazing place!
We had such a lovely experience. Amazing view of the bay bridge, great food, and to top it all everyone from the host to the bartender to the waiters was so nice!
Very poor service, food average
Thank you for making my husband's Birthday night Special!
Have always eaten here for dinner and after a sudden change of plans, was able to try for lunch. Ended up with clam chowder and the seafood Cobb salad - the perfect combo! The seafood was so fresh and the chowder had a slight smokey flavor which was very good. Decided to treat myself and had the trio of homemade sorbet and ice cream. The 3 petite scoops of lemon and mandarin sorbet and vanilla ice cream were just the right amount and the flavor of each was outstanding.
We had a fantastic dinner starting with the seafood appetizer platter for 7 wine, view, food, service were all fabulous!
Great location with view of the SF Bay Bridge. I've dined here several times usually for special occasions or when I'm in the city to meet with clients.
My favorite restaurant in San Fran. Service is impeccable and seafood dishes are outstanding. Had the scallops special which was served over a crab risotto with a lemon beurre blanc. Was not a fan of the peas in the risotto but otherwise was amazing. Decided to have the sautéed spinach and Napa cabbage but with a simple olive oil and lemon preparation....really good and the perfect amount of extra veggies.
Had an excellent dinner on my last night visiting San Francisco. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious. Beautiful views of the water and the bay bridge—would be a great place to sit outside on a nice day.
Service was perfect and very friendly. Food was delicious. View outstanding.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant. However do not bring your own cake. They have an absolutely ridiculous cake cutting fee of $5 per person. Ridiculous!
Love the fish here - prepared well. The sole and the bass were delicious.
We both had the sole which is hard to cook well and it was delicious. good Service...a tad noisy but always good and this night was no exception.
