The Ward - Buffalo Riverworks
Just an all around fun place. Food is always good. Not great but good
Best burger I’ve had in a long time! The service was quick and server was polite and informative.
Went to Riverworks for some adult beverages and appetizers. We sat outside- huge ship was just going by as we were seated-pretty cool! Beer selection was varied. Food was very good-server was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back!
We said yes to sitting outside, but didn’t realize we’d get seated right against the building so we may as well have sat inside. I tried to order the dominator (beer) but the server said they were fresh out, so that was disappointing. Our food was fine. Before we paid the bill, the guy at the table next to us ordered a dominator and got one! I’m guessing there must have been some miscommunication somewhere. Just not the best experience tonight, but it doesn’t mean we won’t come back some time.
Terry, our waiter, made our evening fun and very enjoyable.
We were here on a Tuesday night so the restaurant was not very busy. The waitress was very attentive. The timing of our food was perfect. The food was delicious!!
We had reservations during the Chalk Fest weekend. Our table was ready upon arrival. We requested a table near a TV to watch the game and it was perfect. We ordered food and drinks. The service was wonderful, everyone was friendly and accommodating. We ordered pizza and wings. The wings were good but expensive (1lb for $13.00 we got like 8-9) the Pizza was average. I enjoyed the ambiance. I would recommend and would definitely be back.
It had a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was good, and a reasonable price. There was a fire pit and Adirondack chairs to sit and relax in on the canalside after dinner. Overall, a very good experience.
Going on Tiki Tour
Great food, good value and great views of the water, boats and fun! Can climb the silo, listen to a band and other activities. Will definately go back!
The food and drinks were reasonably priced. Food was good (French fries could have been hotter). Our waitress was awesome! We sat outside. It was a beautiful late summer evening in Buffalo. Almost perfect !
Great environment. Most interesting food place downtown. Terrific pot roast melt.
Excellent food and drinks in a relaxing fun atmosphere. Our server was great and service was quick. Will definitely visit again!
Ordered the mahi, and it was dried out and difficult to eat. Was obviously frozen, thawed, frozen, thawed? But waitress was very accommodating, and brought me the veggie pasta dish. My wife ordered the ribs, and she was happy with them. If that is how the mahi always comes out it should be removed from the menu.
Server was great. He was very nice and very attentive. We sat on the patio, and the noise level of the music was OK! A little loud (you could hear bass) . Food was very good and did not take too long
Delicious food on a great atmosphere. The service was outstanding!
I have been to Riverworks a good handful of times now. The reason we go is to be near the water or to watch a Roller Derby game and at my last visit I took my family to the escape room. Thank fully Riverworks has great ambiance and much to offer besides food because if I were going for food or service I wouldn't go back. Unfortunatly, for the waiters and waitresses (usually they are decent), my experience all ready has started off terrible, by the time they finally get to me, with the hostess. It has been my experience EVERYTIME that the hostesses attitude has been terrible, acting like she was doing me a favor by seating me at a table. My encounter usually leaves me feeling like I've inconvienenced them in some way and they have no interest in accommodating. I would say that I have had a different hostess each time and they all have started off our experience on a sour note. Friendly clearly isn't a qualification when they hire for this spot. The food used to be great but it seems lately that they don't take much pride anymore. Drinks.....two visits ago I ordered a glass of red wine at the bar (took forever to get service and bar tenders were rude) and as I finished my glass i ended with a mouthful of cork and some sort of sediment...ugh.... There's much to do at Riverworks and I would go again, but it wont be because I expect great food or service. I enjoy wine....if you are a wine drinker I would grab a drink elsewhere as well.
Service and food was average at best...
Atmosphere was pretty cool but the food well lets say it all tastes like frozen meals. Plus we asked to sit outside but was told because we did not request that at time of reservation we could not. HALF THE TABLES IF NOT MORE WERE EMPTY OUTSIDE. I did not knw there was outside seating till we got there.
Fun place but really dark & dreary. Being next to the water is nicer but hard to get.
It was new and interesting. Loved being downtown on the river
Good food, good service, great atmosphere, great views what more could you ask for
I wish someone had told us when I confirmed the reservation that Beerfest was happening. We had to pay to park and the noise level was louder than usual. Seated near a birthday party.
was going on a boat ride that left from there so this was perfect right before
Definitely my go to for casual business meals. Meals delivered timely allowing perfect timing to converse with client within allotted time.
Food was good, service was decent, was a bit disappointed that a reservation does not get you a table outside, we made a reservation for a table and we were put at the bar which was a bit noisy.
Was a great atmosphere by waterside. Comfortable and relaxing. They offer there own beer on the menu along with domestic choices. So if you want to have a casual dinner or drink, check this place out.
Fun environment. Food was decent but nothing amazing. Our waiter lost half of our order. But the management helped rectify it by wiping that part of the bill so that helped. Overall it was a fun place to be out but I wouldn’t go with too large of a group because it seemed to overwhelm the staff.
We must’ve went on a bad night, it was our 1st time and the impression wasn’t good. Took 20+ min to get our Appetizers and when we received them (buffalo dip and the tator tot poutine) the chips were stale and the tator tot wasn’t the best presentation. So we decided to not take the risk on the entrees, so we left. Hopefully it was just one of those nights, because I’ll go again in the future to give them another shot.
Lovely covered patio area overlooking the river.
I really like this place however service could use some improvement. This was the second time I came here. Both times the waitress got the food order wrong. Complete wrong meal. On this occasion we were seated and waited 20 minutes before being approached by our server. And that was only after I went to the host and asked if we were forgotten about or if they were really that busy. We were forgotten about. They server apologized and said our first round of drinks was on them. That was appreciated, but the wrong meal didn’t help matters. I like the industrial vibe and summer atmosphere of this restaurant so will definitely go back and will hope for better service!
Went with friends from out of town. All of us loved it! Tater tot poutine is a must every time! Beer was cold, food was great! Gluten free options are available...server and chef attentive to the GF requests!
This is a fun, family-friendly restaurant! A gem of Buffalo right on the water!
Great place to relax with friends and enjoy the view
Made a reservation, but they acted like they couldn’t accommodate us. We did get to sit outside when all was said and done. We were seated near a table of loud, rude and crass people who arrived by boat. Our waiter was fine, but time waiting for food was a bit long. He didn’t really check in with us. The food was fine, nothing great. I would still recommend it because it’s on the water and I completely support the revitalization of Buffalo!
It is unfortunate that I have to give a poor review. I love to support local restaurants and I love food. We reserved the table for our group of girls at The Ward. Since the website said that patio seating is first come first serve so upon arrival I requested for our group of 5 to be seated at patio. The place was half empty and we were the only people of color. The hostess said that there is a wait list for an hour. I was surprised as the website said first come first serve. But we just took the inside seating. Then the server who came to take our orders pretended to not understand our request for Mojito.
He left us and after long time another server came to take our orders. We placed the order but did request her to check for outdoor seating as it looked like it was empty. While she was inquiring that I saw a group of 5 come in and got seated at patio. I went and asked them if they were on wait list and they told me that they weren't. They said they just walked in and got this patio without any reservations. We talked to the manager and he gave explaination which was clearly made up and he couldn't come up with any better excuses of why we were being treated unfairly as a group of color. I am raised in India but a proud citizen of US. It was so heartbreaking to go through this. I hope someone can address this issue and make sure that no one goes through this again.
We cancelled our order and left ! Our second server knew we were being bullied and she apologized to us for what we went through. She was the only one who treated us nicely.
A great place to try. Very roomy with multiple bars . Food and service was great! You would not be disappointed.
No place better on a beautiful day than eating outside. The tables are covered so it's delightful even if it is raining. The inside area is like being in a cave and it is smothering. Why it isn't a shade of blue like a 'river' is beyond me - it would make it more pleasant. Service is excellent. Food was only ok and we had a variety - an app, steak, salads, burgers, chicken sandwich. It is really being on the water that is wonderful.
This was our first time going. It was so nice to sit outside and see everything they have to offer. We will definitely be visiting again!
The girl I talked to to update my reservation to 8 people instead of 5 was not very personable on the phone. The food was great as usual. The noise
Level was high - difficult to carry on a conversation. We also needed a high chair for a 6 month old and were told they didn’t have anything
To accommodate that. We had to
Settle for setting the baby’s carrier on a chair and holding on to it. I love this place and we loved the food but a couple things disappointed me.
