The Ward - Buffalo Riverworks
We are proudly part of the Pearl Street Family of Companies, and committed to Buffalo’s renaissance, “Rebuilding Buffalo, one pint at a time!” Our fully functioning brewery, retrofitted into the former Wheeler-GLF grain elevator, is what we believe to be the first brewery inside a silo in the world! With three expansive bars inside our main facility, the fourth bar is located within the silo, adjacent to the Riverworks Beergarden. More information in the PRIVATE EVENTS section of OpenTable. Food was ok, your basic bar fare. A couple hiccups during service, but we know that places are understaffed. Could've done w/o the music...hard for conversation on a Sunday afternoon. Couldn't really engage with my dining partners. I'll come back for drinks since the place is very spacious and nice.
Overall this place was okay... we were there on a Saturday night at 5pm. I ordered the pasta dish (note there are only 4 entree choices) and they were out of it. How are you out of pasta at 5pm on a Saturday? Not sure. Our server was nice, but was very jittery the whole visit, kind of odd. The tables are permanently sticky (some kind of varnish or finish on the wood). We are from out of town so I figured something on the River would be a little nicer. Definitely an extremely casual place, more warehouse like. Positive notes were the live music and drinks were delicious.
Good food and great atmosphere. Nice to spend an afternoon by the water.
Beautiful view while enjoying a great meal. Great place to enjoy the summer weather. Plenty of free parking. Love spending time there!
I had the Southwest Salad that was excellent. The rest of the guests were pleased with their selections
I’m 5’1 and the young lady showed us to an indoor tall table. She dropped the menus on the table and ran off. My sister had to go to the hostess to request a regular table because I couldn’t get up on the chair.
I ordered a cup of seafood bisque which was served to me barely warmed. Sent it back. Replacement was better.
The servers were pleasant but service was very slow! This was Monday and not very busy.
Had been there once before in May and experience was better. We enjoy being by the water, so will probably give it another try.
First of all our table was ready when we got there. Taylor is an outstanding server. She was polite, accommodating and just a pleasant person to have serve you.
I had the Southwest Salad and added chicken. Took half of it home. Very good presentation and ingredients and especially enjoyed the chipotle ranch dressing.
Food was good. But we have given this place multiple tries. Busy or not, the service is horrible. Got seated at our table which we had a reservation for. Hostess seated us. Waiter/waitress never came over after TWENTY MINUTES. Everyone was looking for one. I had to go to the front and she sent him right over. Our waiter was very friendly but we waited 35 minutes for OUR DRINKS when people walking up to the bar got their drinks within 3 minutes. Our waiter said bar was backed up, which was NOT the case. Food- TOOK OVER AN HOUR. We only ordered chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. This is the second time we have had an issue with service and UNFORTUNATELY will not be back. Beautiful location, but place was A MESS. Cans, napkins, plates NOT cleaned up. Waiters or waitresses could NOT be found. Drinks, that take over 30 minutes when you witness the bartenders not being backed up. I’ve been to restaurants that are way busier than it was last night and had more efficient service. I understand we are just coming out of a pandemic but it doesn’t take that long for a sprite and vodka. Sorry.
Service was okay. As is the case everywhere there is a shortage of employees leading to less than optimum efficiency and attention
A simple lunch for 4 took 2 hours! It didn't appear to be busy, but was their "lunch rush."
It’s a wonderful spot to be by the water watching the activity in the water. Food is good and craft beer is good.
We had a great time at Riverworks. The service was good and my son loved the gluten free pizza. It's one of his favorites. They seem very safe and knowledgeable with cross contamination.
Love Riverworks! Terrance is the best waiter!
Ordered a salad that was humongous! Fresh veggies and fruit and greens - perfect. Server was attentive and friendly. Price was right. Ambience- sitting outside on the water on a beautiful day, what could be better!
Great location, lots of choices on the menu, including good veggie options. Nice beer selection.
Our waitress just seems either really o erwhlemed or new. She forgot a refill on the tables round of drinks. She walked passed our table multiple times without checking if we needed anything. When she did come back and we asked for boxes to go. She made no eye contact basically threw the boxes at us and walked away to another table.
Food was very good! service...not so much
You can’t beat the location and we were really excited when we were moved outside on the patio for a beautiful view but it was downhill from there. We waited for our food for an hour and a half. Continued apologies by our waitress that the kitchen was backed up but this was too long. When our food finally arrived, no plate for my pizza and I had to get up and track our waitress down. They gave us 15 percent off but this is a shame. My pizza was good but my companions did not like their burgers and their tots were inedible as super they were super greasy. This used to be a go to place pre-COVID. Hope they can turn it around.
Our waiter was so nice. We had him laughing. It was not crowded and the noise level didn’t interfere with conversation. Food was great. We had a very enjoyable dinner there. One of our favorite places.
I think we had a new waiter. He was nice enough just seemed a little
"green". Food was cold coming out of kitchen. Sent it back to be warmed.
Have been here several times and food and service were good on those occassions.
The experience was just okay
Disappointed. We have been to Riverworks on many occasions and have always had a nice evening. Although, I made reservations earlier in the day and requested to sit on the patio. When we arrived the hostess seemed very confused and needed help from another staff member to find us a table...isn't that the point of reservations. Then a third employee came over and took us to our seats...right in front of the band? The farthest from the patio. The hostess never said oh we are sorry,, the patio is full but is it okay to sit here? Then we waited patiently for our server to come, in hopes of getting a different table..at this point just away from the band..we waited...waited and then got up and left. As we were leaving our server came (very cheerful and apologetic) ...sorry by then it was too late. As I said, I was surprised and disappointed by the service. I guess ever place has an off night.
We like being by the water. And the food was good. Service was excellent.
Good food and staff - fun night out ! Will be awesome in warmer weather to be outside with more activity.
If you like cool ambience and good food, this is the place to head. Come summer it's even better with the view outdoors.
Great place great service and a great band. Been there before will be back for sure.
The turkey on ciabatta was very very dry. There was about three pieces of arugula and hardly any cranberry sage aoili. The ability was overpowered by the sage, could not detect cranberry. The sandwich was awful. The tot poyine was ok but had very little gravy, which was very salty.the side salad was warm and wilted. I spent $80 and left hungry and dissatisfied. Waste of money. There were no other patrons in the place so the ambiance fell completely flat. So disappointed. Doubt I'd ever return and won't recommend
Riverworks has really become one of my favorite places to go over the last few years. Its huge so during the pandemic you don't have to worry about space.
3rd week in a row for us... So great to have music..early in the evening. Our parties of 6 will be back real soon...probably next weekend again! need to update the menu a bit though but we love riverworks!
I work for the department of transportation and we have alot of our Christmas and retirement parties at riverworks!
The tater tot poutine is an absolute must order!!!!
Antonio was awesome! Will be back
Music, food and service was great!
Omg where do I start, the tarter tot poutine is so so delious I must try .I love love the pot roast melt It is my go too just so delious makes my mouth extremely happy and excited ......you will not be disappointed yummy food
never disappointed w/ the food and service at riverworks. the place is big enough to social distance but still have atmosphere. the views are also a bonus.
Fish fry was great !!?
Had a great time listening to live music again. Food was ok, service was great- we had a nice time. The Riverworks' website could use some updating as making reservations is a bit confusing as it's not clear that the live music 'indoor patio' is part of The Ward.
The restaurant was a good place to start returning to indoor dining because of its size, distancing from others, mask policy and hand sanitizer availability.
Always a pleasure to go for a safe and enjoyable time.
The food is delicious! I love the atmosphere there!! Great place to go!
