The Wandering Griffin
Host was attentive and took us to our seats. Waitress was very pleasant and was always up on top of our drinks.
Very nice service.
Great food and drink
The bartender/waitress was great. The food was really good and the selection of beers was spot on. The host was the whole reason that I gave 3 stars. Had a reservation at 7 for a table. Got there 15 minutes early. Was told that our table would be ready in 20-30 minutes. No big deal. Was told we could go to the bar and get a drink. Asked if they were going to page us when our table was ready. Blank stare. 10 minutes later after at the bar, host comes up and says our table is ready. Told him we had to close out our tab as we found seats at the bar. Big sigh from the host “You can just sit here then”. Then was charged twice for our meal on the card. Food was good, beer was great, but the host ruined our experience.
OK place but have no desire to go back again. The menu consists of your average typical bar food with a selection of IPA and stout style beers. Nothing special here.
We had steak and salmon and both were very good, though the food was a little salty overall. Our server was great. This was the first time we'd eaten there but we'll go back to try other dishes.
A mildly positive recommendation. The beer selection was fine (hard to get this wrong anymore) but the food was just OK. I had the Cuban, and the bread was stale and fries were a bit undercooked. My wife had the flatbread, and the crust was thicker than she expected for a flatbread, but it tasted fine. Service was friendly but pretty slow. Ambiance was nice on a Saturday night.
Great food, friendly staff, huge portions, nice beer selection!
I made reservations for a high top and they never looked at the reservation. Got sat at a low top table. Tried to change my reservation to add one person but open table said they couldn’t do within 2.5 hours of my reservation. So I wasn’t able to bring the extra person. But the restaurant was half empty the entire time we spent there. What’s up and who had it wrong b
Waited several minutes to be seated and when we finally did get seated , she was rude . Didn’t tell us about the specials and sat us at a dirty table . She wiped it down and left it soaking wet . We had to ask for a towel to dry it off ourselves . We left .
Excellent atmosphere, great menu and nice selection of in-house and guest beers.
Great environment and great food! Will be back.
After looking forward to coming here to meet up with friends, we were disappointed that it took 1:20 to receive our food. Our server would not check on our table. We had to finally ASK her to clear the table after all of the dishes had piled up and left little room to actually eat. Unfortunately, none of us will return here to eat which is unfortunate because a few of us are in Dayton often to meet up for dinner/drinks.
The service from our server was fine but it took a long time to get our food. It was a surprise party for my wife and we had to sit in a crowded bar area. Some of our guests did not get food for over a hour.
We have normally had good trips here so maybe this was just a fluke.
Food and service were good! The ambiance was good and they have a good beer selection. It was pretty loud in there, but the patio was pretty quiet and I would probably opt to sit out there next time if the weather is ok.
Food is pricey & not worth the money. Server was good though.
The food was delicious. Our server was very nice. But they were having major issues (maybe no kitchen staff?) because we waited for an hour after ordering our food. Our server was running around like crazy, and even made the cocktails some of us ordered. This was our first time, and I’m not sure if it was a fluke, but they were super unorganized/lacked employees. We also made a reservation on Open Table, and the person at the front said they are “locked out of their account on open table, so we can’t see reservations”. Eek
Service was sub par
They “couldn’t” find my reservation.
Enjoyed the outdoor patio for dinner, especially with the duo playing 8/23 who were awesome. Shredded pork tacos were very good ( fish taco bland)
The resteraunt wss quaint with wonderful staff along with great food and a bar that offers a great drink selection and an amazing beer selection with local, national and international beers to choose from.
I'll most definitely visit again!
I would definitely go back again despite the lack of appetizing food options and unpleasant dish I ordered. Although it was dead, it seems like a decent venue to watch a sports game
Seated us right away but beware because they told us they cannot see the Open Table reservations
The party going on seemed to take full control of the location but that cant really be helped I suppose. Protein was excellent but the chef's choice of vegetables was absolutely bizarre and didn't really work at all, leaving us with half full plates.
The service was extremely slow. It was very loud hard to have a conversation. Food was good
We made a reservation on OpenTable. When we got there 5 min before our selected time we were informed that they do not receive OpenTable reservations. There was not a table available. We left without eating and do not plan on returning.
Outside patio is great
It took ~50 minutes to get 6 light meals for burgers and such, even though on only ~8 people were eating in the business that night. The food was okay to fair and nothing to rave about. The ice tea we got was extremely bitter, such that for the first time in my life I sent a drink back. I still got billed for the tea. The only reason I would suggest someone eat there is because my first experience was very good. However at $100 for six people for burgers and such, this restaurant would not be my first choose in the future.
This was our first time to visit. The ordering process was not written down anywhere. I had to ask an employee. There were only 4 (total) food menus in the whole place. Other than that, it was great.
The food was very average or below average. The fries were cold and seemed like they had been sitting all day.
The chicken was chewy and not good.
The roasted potatoes and veggies were hot and satisfactory.
Decent sports bar atmosphere but we won’t be rushing back.
much too noisy, much too slow, and the food wasn't that good
Food was poor. Dry omelette, dry pancakes, potatoes tasted liked they came out of a freezer bag. Overall, low quality.
Service was good. Waiter was attentive, filled drinks, provided good service.
great place to meet a group of friends. We had the pizza, which was actually better than most of the places known for pizza. And a wonderful beer selection.
The food was good, I got a spinach salad and was asked if I wanted chicken or salmon on it, I added salmon and it cost more than the salad, which surprised me a bit. It was good though. The band was Until Rust, which I had seen before and was the main reason I went to dinner there. I enjoyed the band, the service was good, nice evening.
Food was good. Cheese curds are surprisingly different than most - very good. Had burger and sweet potato fries. Pleased with both. Will definitely go back.
Coffee bar was closed - no barista - that was the only negative.
We sat there for over 25 minutes and no server came to greet us or ask for drink orders. We then went to the host to let them know and still nothing. After 10 more minutes, 35 total, we left. Terrible service
First visit...we really enjoyed the live music and the cheese curds were delicious. Not overly crowded. I think a lot of people don't know about this place due to not being right on Fairfield. I hope it stays quiet as I hate waiting for a table. I will definitely be back.
Food was not good. Green beans had more bacon than beans. Over priced and under quality food. Good beer selection, reasonable pricing.
Would recommend stopping by for a beer or two, but go somewhere else to eat.
We went for Restaurant Week, but have been many other times. I thought the fish was slightly overcooked, but their beef meals are always great. The sweet potatoes were amazing as were the desserts. We love their Griffin Burger. Their beer list is terrific too. We enjoy their outside seating in the warmer months.
Great experience. 6 of us enjoyed a nice meal and obviously good beers! Service was great.
Our server Chelsea was great working with our group. Reservations were easy to setup online and the tall bar table was good for our group of what became 11 (reservation was for 10).
We had a large party of 12. There should have been 2 servers for our table. The waitress knew nothing about the coffee bar. I ordered black coffee with skim milk and splenda. Coffee came out cold , no skim milk or splenda. And was nasty tasting.
