The Wandering Griffin
It took ~50 minutes to get 6 light meals for burgers and such, even though on only ~8 people were eating in the business that night. The food was okay to fair and nothing to rave about. The ice tea we got was extremely bitter, such that for the first time in my life I sent a drink back. I still got billed for the tea. The only reason I would suggest someone eat there is because my first experience was very good. However at $100 for six people for burgers and such, this restaurant would not be my first choose in the future.
This was our first time to visit. The ordering process was not written down anywhere. I had to ask an employee. There were only 4 (total) food menus in the whole place. Other than that, it was great.
The food was very average or below average. The fries were cold and seemed like they had been sitting all day.
The chicken was chewy and not good.
The roasted potatoes and veggies were hot and satisfactory.
Decent sports bar atmosphere but we won’t be rushing back.
much too noisy, much too slow, and the food wasn't that good
Food was poor. Dry omelette, dry pancakes, potatoes tasted liked they came out of a freezer bag. Overall, low quality.
Service was good. Waiter was attentive, filled drinks, provided good service.
great place to meet a group of friends. We had the pizza, which was actually better than most of the places known for pizza. And a wonderful beer selection.
The food was good, I got a spinach salad and was asked if I wanted chicken or salmon on it, I added salmon and it cost more than the salad, which surprised me a bit. It was good though. The band was Until Rust, which I had seen before and was the main reason I went to dinner there. I enjoyed the band, the service was good, nice evening.
Food was good. Cheese curds are surprisingly different than most - very good. Had burger and sweet potato fries. Pleased with both. Will definitely go back.
Coffee bar was closed - no barista - that was the only negative.
We sat there for over 25 minutes and no server came to greet us or ask for drink orders. We then went to the host to let them know and still nothing. After 10 more minutes, 35 total, we left. Terrible service
First visit...we really enjoyed the live music and the cheese curds were delicious. Not overly crowded. I think a lot of people don't know about this place due to not being right on Fairfield. I hope it stays quiet as I hate waiting for a table. I will definitely be back.
Food was not good. Green beans had more bacon than beans. Over priced and under quality food. Good beer selection, reasonable pricing.
Would recommend stopping by for a beer or two, but go somewhere else to eat.
We went for Restaurant Week, but have been many other times. I thought the fish was slightly overcooked, but their beef meals are always great. The sweet potatoes were amazing as were the desserts. We love their Griffin Burger. Their beer list is terrific too. We enjoy their outside seating in the warmer months.
Great experience. 6 of us enjoyed a nice meal and obviously good beers! Service was great.
Our server Chelsea was great working with our group. Reservations were easy to setup online and the tall bar table was good for our group of what became 11 (reservation was for 10).
We had a large party of 12. There should have been 2 servers for our table. The waitress knew nothing about the coffee bar. I ordered black coffee with skim milk and splenda. Coffee came out cold , no skim milk or splenda. And was nasty tasting.
Nice place. Love the remodel of the old Quaker Steak location. Pretty average service, good beer selection and clean bathrooms. The private party area was booked during my visit and looked pretty nice.
Restaurant has a nice rustic feel and the event space looks very nice. When it comes to the food, during our visit our table of four had a couple hamburgers, soup and two different salads with protein. It was average. If you are looking to get wowed....this is not your spot. $13 for a hamburger should knock your shoes off....they were not close. Will not go back other than to get a beer.
The herb chicken arrived uncooked, still cold on the inside. The restaurant comped the replacement entree, which was appreciated, but all of the food was mediocre at best.
I've been to this establishment several times and have never been disappointed. I went this last time with several 'out of town' friends who had apparently gone there a few days before. The staff there recognized them and even remembered what they had to drink. Awesome customer service. One member didn't enjoy his meal and staff attempted to offer alternatives but the rest of us enjoyed the food, drink and atmosphere. I'd continue to recommend this location for a fun get together. Not a great place for private conversation as pretty noisy but fun atmosphere and personable staff.
Work Christmas party
Great service tonight .
Great place. It is a sports bar, so it's not a quiet place. It's too bad though. Excellent beer list and great food.
Stopped by on a Saturday night after a concert at the Nutter Center. Food was very good. The service was ok, we did not see our server for the second half of our meal and ended up asking another server to get us our check. The worst thing was the live music. Perhaps we are too old, but the music was really too loud for a relatively small interior and people there to eat and talk, not for the concert at the restaurant.
I made a reservation through Open Table for a party of 10 on a Friday night at 9:30 p.m. thinking it would be very crowded. Upon arrival, I was surprised to see that there weren't many customers - I was a little concerned wondering why.
The food was great - plenty of good options to choose from and very tasty. Plenty of drink options as well - and our service was excellent. I can't imagine why it didn't have more customers - maybe it's location (near a mall) doesn't attract a big Friday night crowd.
It was perfect for our purposes though, and I would recommend it to others.
We had three birthdays, 7 of us total. Server was a nice person so I hesitate giving bad feedback however the service was poor. We had to ask for everything (once we could find her), sometimes multiple times. It became painful. It was mildly busy but no excuse for poor communication on what took so long. I found myself angry, a 10% tip was all I could muster and I feel horrible but had I tipped on the service alone it would have been less. If there was an issue, (short staffing etc) communicating this would help. If you’re going to price your food at the higher end, your atmosphere and service should match. Being my first visit, I will return hoping this was a one off, not the standard.
First time dining here. It was amazing. Had the fried shrimp meal. The batter on the very large shrimp was not your normal coating. Very light and delicious.
Reservation of 15 was initially in 2 separate tables until we commented. Restaurant was empty so not sure why 2 tables. Service was below par as was the food. It was a slow night for them so not sure why service was so slow. Would not recommend.
We tried Wandering Griffin for the first time. Outstanding beer list. Our friend said their pizza was very good. We ordered a pasta dish which was solid and a hamburger. The burger came out rare versus the medium-well request. We could have sent it back, but they were busy and we didn’t want to go through the hassle/delay. The noise level is pretty loud. All-in-all it’s pretty good place to go. We’ll definitely go back and look forward to sitting out on their patio.
Food was good service was good, we had a good time
Atmosphere was good as was the food however, the server was less than attentive and they were not at all crowded or understaffed for the time...had to ask for straws and napkins (the later of the two was never provided) and salad came out with items asked not to be included even though she did correct that...would go back again...
