Since 1977 the Mariscotti family has owned and operated The Vineyard Restaurant. Modeled after a winery, the large wooden barrels, high ceilings and friendly wait staff create a relaxed atmosphere. The Vineyard serves American food influenced by our Italian heritage and the bountiful foods of Central California. We feature menu items such as Lamb Shank braised in red wine, locally grown Mary's Chicken fried Italian style and our popular Filet Mignon with zinfandel butter and portabella mushroom. The restaurant has a full bar featuring the wines of Madera County. Located in the center of California at the junction of Highway 99 and Highway 145, The Vineyard is a natural meeting place for business and family events. The restaurant has been featured as one of the top restaurants in Central California by publications such as; The Wine Spectator, The American Automobile Association's Via Magazine, Fresno Magazine and The Northern California Golf Magazine.

    Plenty of free parking in our parking lot or on the street. Our parking lot can accommodate trailers and buses. The Vineyard has easy access to Hiway 99 and Hiway 145. The Hiway 99 and 145 intersection is a main junction for access to Yosemite National Park. It is the easiest route to enter Yosemite Valley from the famed southern entrance with it's spectacular view of Half Dome and El Capitan. The Vineyard Restaurant is less than an hour's drive from Yosemite Park.

                                                                                          The bus boy was awesome. The waitress was fair. She forgot various things like the butter for the bread and the bruschetta. We had asked for a warm table and we got sat next to the window - not very warm, but managable. Overall, it was a good sound dinner with good service. My hope was that it would be great because of the reviews that it had gotten prior. I did like the convenience of it being right off the freeway en route to Yosemite.

                                                                                          We have been dining at the Vineyard since 1985. Chris and his family do a wonderful job and have one of the best chefs I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. Hector is an imaginative artist with food. The Vineyards "Slow Food" events are not to be missed.

                                                                                          From the moment I walked into the restaurant we were greeted as though we were regulars. The bartender was most gracious in making a recommendation for a fun Friday night libation prior to dinner; it was a Lemon Drop and it was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and quite accommodating when I requested an appetizer that was not on the menu. The Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer was delicious and quite a generous portion. The Lamb Shank was so tender that the meat fell off the bone. Did not indulge in the homemade desserts but I did enjoy a fabulous Irish Coffee. The Vineyard is a “do-over” on my list of fine dining establishments in the Fresno area.

The service especially is excellent: knowledgeable, always there when needed, but not obsequious. Very reasonable corkage ($10 per). Reasonable prices (6 persons,2 courses,$162 including $20 corkage on two bottles). Lamb shanks and seafood pasta and pumpkin ravioli very good, mushroom lasagna and house lasagna and stuffed chicken, excellent. THE restaurant in Madera. Locals love it, and many drive from surrounding areas (we drove from Fresno).

                                                                                          The Vineyard was a treat to stop at for lunch for our family on a long journey driving back home to Southern California. The olive spread accompanying the bread was tasty. The shrimp panini was prepared untraditionally and was more like a ciabbata sandwich but nonetheless it was delicious with avocado and chipotle dressing. The special of the day was terrific being a choice of stuffed fish with a lobster sauce. And the cream of mushroom sauce was perfect with chunks of vegies aside from the mushrooms. A wonderful menu here.

                                                                                          The crab and shrimp cake hor d'oeuvre was quite good. There are few nonmeat food choices. There was nothing wrong the two main courses we had but there was nothing special about them either. It is a good place to break a journey and have a solid meal. It is a good value compared to equivalent city restaurants.
