The Vine @ Cameo Heights Mansion Ratings and Reviews
This was our 6th time eating here. GREAT. The atmosphere, the food, the service are all first, first class. Very nice place to spend time with your spouse or very special person. The Vine has a great feel to it and Nathan can cook! Highly, highly recommend.
This was such a memorable evening. Chef Nathan acted as our server and chef. He was very personable and answered all our questions about our dishes. We did the fixed price tasting menu and were delighted with each course. A few courses had some surprise elements which only enhanced our experience. Highly recommend!
Intimate, lovely restaurant in the Cameo hotel. It overlooks the vineyards and orchards -- really lovely! Food is excellent. Wine pairings available (but we just got a bottle instead). They did customize for my pescatarian husband. A total of 7 courses, three of which you get to choose from a limited selection. It's out of the way (30 minutes from Walla Walla and about the same from Pasco) so either plan ahead or stay at the hotel. Worth it, though!
My wife and I visit The Vine each year we go to Walla Walla for wine tasting. The food is great. The service is great. My main quibble, which isn't insignificant, is the diner's experience when arriving at Cameo Height's Mansion (where The Vine is located). The signage for parking is not very clear. There's one side with reserved parking for their rooms (it's a bed and breakfast), and the other side which goes past a garage (which looks private) to a small lot which is usually crowded. Okay. Now you've parked. Next, you enter the mansion but there's no hostess. There's no real signage to where the restaurant is located. Once you do find the restaurant there's no clear place to stand to be greeted and welcomed in. So it's a bit of an awkward "do I stand in the dining room to try and catch someone's eye?" All while there's diners already seated so you don't want to loom over top of them. This last time we were finally greeted, asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. When we elected outside the table wasn't prepped yet. Okay, we'll sit down in the living room and wait for it to be prepped after they said they'd come back and grab us. 20 minutes later... no one comes to get us. We again do the weird dance to catch someone's eye only to find out the table has been ready for 18 minutes. :| The staff is great. They're attentive at the table, incredibly friendly, and very knowledgable. My comment is regarding how the restaurant is structured. The arrival experience is completely missing. I don't believe the owner or chef are aware of this.
Our dining experience was amazing. Each course was timed perfectly and our server was phenomenal. Each plate was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The view was absolutely geourgous. We live in Walla Walla and it was a perfect small get away for dinner. I have already recommended to other guests. Amazing!
Nathan is an excellent chef! Missy(?) was genuine and attentive. We loved the flavors and would order the same again! I guess the albacore, my wife's choice, is on the menu only occasionally, however. I had the lamb and it was most excellent!
The Fieldings always have everything in order and updated. The mansion and the restaurant are wonderful!
We were staying at Cameo Heights Mansion for the last night of our 8 day vacation which involved driving from Portland, OR to Coeur d'Alene, ID, on to West Glacier, MT and then back through WA to Portland so rather than driving anywhere else, we decided to stay in and dine at The Vine. We are so glad we did! The food was spectacular, the service fantastic and the dining room perfect for our last vacation evening.
Fabulous prix fix menu with the Chef right in front of you. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is not to be missed. The wines on the Wine Pairing, while good wines, were not always a perfect match. Can the same wine really be best for both Lamb Chops and Sea Scallops? We would definitely eat there again if in the area.
Dinner was a seven course tasting menu to which we added Chef Carlson' selected wine pairing. Dinner, plus the wine pairing, was on the very expensive side. However, it was nothing short of fabulous and very much worth the price. Three of the courses allow you to select one of several options (all of which sound so delicious it is hard to choose). Our meal began with a delicious smoked cheddar mousse, cleverly served in a wonton cone. The remaining courses were equally delicious and paired wonderfully with the selected wines.
Dinner at The Vine is highly recommended, and is a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion or just to experience wonderful food and wine.
The Vine was an amazing experience! Romantic setting and a view of the beautiful kitchen for the 7 course Saturday evening meal. The chef personally brings many of the courses and a delicious palate cleanser before the heavier courses. The wine pairings were excellent as well so it's worth doing with the dinner. Beautiful presentation and delicious food. We can't wait to go back on another mini getaway from Portland. A great weekend at the mansion and brunches were delicious and beautifully presented.
Wonderful 7 course prix fixe menu! The chef is so personable - and the venue is very intimate. I overheard another guest compliment the chef this way "that was a memorable meal. In life, there are memorable moments - this is one of them". Well - that says it all.
Since relocating from a major Midwest metropolis, this is, by far, the best dining experience my wife and I have had in the Walla Walla, Tri-Cities area. Warm, friendly, inviting is just the start. Intimate with the chef bringing your courses to you personally! You can watch him at work. Exciting courses without being over the top. The value for the experience is tough to beat. Highly, highly recommended!
Had a great time. Enjoyed the experience. Menu had the right amount to choose from. Outcome from dinner was two thumbs up. Only because I like Spicer food my only wish was for a little pepper but than again I did not ask for it either. Next time I do believe I would do it the same regarding the intimate in room dinner. It's worth the small extra fee. Great food. Well done. Thank you.
Located 25 miles West from Walla Walla, this gem of a restaurant is located at the Cameo Heights Mansion. A bit difficult to find but well worth the trip. It was a culinary delight as we launched into a seven course meal with Chef selected wine pairing. Each course was served to us by the Chef himself! We started with the "Amuse" (beet and blue cheese Mousse in a Wanton cone) and each successive course wowed us with the molecular depth of complex and intermixed flavors. Yummers! Three of the courses have several choice/options from which to choose so there is something for everyone's taste buds. I encourage you to check out their menu on their Web page to give you a sense of the diversity. Since there are just a few tables (about 8 or so), I encourage you so reserve your table well in advance. We'll be back!
