Went for holiday lunch with 3 friends. Food was great, but service was really poor - arrogant, inattentive and slow. Will not hurry back.

Went to Village Pub for brunch on a Sunday. It was my wife birthday and the entire experience was wonderful. Very easy access (a block from 280), convenient parking lot in the back (off Whiskey Hill Road). As soon as we got in the staff wished my wife a happy birthday. The restaurant is nice, cozy and was half empty. Service was excellent. Waiter was prompt, friendly and receptive to all our requests. The food was delicious (had couple appetizers (salad and soup), lobster Benedict, my wife the bavette with hashbrowns, + side of bacon that was gigantic, beignets, hash potatoes). Cocktails and champagne were top notch (they had a banana mimosa, which I did not try) although a bit overpriced. I was concerned it would be too fancy or stuffy (keep reading about VC people dining there) but for brunch it was very casual yet still elegant. They brought a plate with happy birthday drawn in chocolate with little treats and candles. Nice touch. My favorite item: The levain bread gently kept warm in their traditional fireplace. I would definitely go back for a special occasion Sunday brunch.

My main problem with the restaurant was the service. I've never eaten in a michelin starred restaurant that didn't clean up the crumbs after the meal. Furthermore, I had to ask the waiter 3 times to bring my guest coffee. He was asked when ordering dessert, reminded again and finally I had to raise my voice so he'd hear me after the dessert. The salmon that I ordered was tiny at best, good for 3/4 bites but cooked perfectly. My check for lunch for 5 was $400. The raw fish appetizer was excellent and so was the portion. The glass of wine for $16 or $18 was a short pour. I probably won't go back. Boulevard is a better bet for this price.

Opentable had a bug where I received a confirmation for a 12:15 reservation but it subsequently saved and transmitted it as 12:45.

Service was slower than usual but the main room was much busier than normal for sunday brunch for some reason, so this wasn't too surprising to me.

Noted an allergy on the reservation and reiterated it to the server upon ordering, however, food was brought out with obvious allergens. Servers should check the food for allergens before service, the dish clearly had croutons on it and there was a gluten allergy.

I eat there quite often for lunch with my partner. We have always had first class service but this time with the delays from water to bread to not even identifying the cheeses we were served; this is not the Village Pub I know. My tip should have gone to the wine steward who was, as usual, perfect.

The village pub is a one star restaurant for a reason. Actually hundreds of reasons. Every aspect of the dining experience is superior. From a gourmet meal to a pub burger its got it all.

Two guys, two drinks, two Pub Burgers with tip $100. The company, great. The gin, great. The burgers ... you must be kidding!

I love the Pub's food and service in the dining room. This was a big letdown.

We have been going to village pub for a long time because of ambience. Menu is getting boring and they need to have more Variety. This time service was better than last ones.

Try the truffle infused omelet/scramble (if special that day)

My wife loves their steaks

I roam the menu

This time I had very little ambition and had the expensive truffle eggs ... and the pub hamburger

One drink for me, champagne and glass of red for my beautiful wife

$400 to get out the door for party of 2 ... if you are looking to impress your wife/girlfriend/partner, you can't go wrong with the ambiance here ...

We had an excellent time. It had been a year or so since we had been to the Village Pub, and frankly we had forgotten how good the food was and the high skill level of the staff. Everything was great and they did a marvelous job of adapting the pace of the meal to the tempo of our table.

Always a wonderful place to dine. My friend's plane was delayed; hostess able to push my reservation to accommodate us. Thank you. The black cod was divine. Service always impeccable. These are the reasons why this restaurant has weathered the fickle dining tastes over the years.

Service staff was most pleasant and everyone very nice, but very uneven in attention and service. My husband's cocktail order was not as requested, but he did not send it back because we waited so long and the evening had to go on. And, my entree was only lukewarm, but I did not send it back because I HATE causing those types of issues during a meal with other people.

I was surprised that the New York steak had gristle on one end and a large tendon running through the other end. When I brought it up to our waiter he said that was the trade off for getting a meaty New York for $50 instead of a filet for $60.

Very disappointed in our server. We have been several times and haven’t ever been rushed to order, to eat and to leave like this time. The restaurant was never filled to capacity during our stay. Server appeared to disapprove of our requests. Unusually disappointing overall and I left not wanting to return which is sad as it as always been a special spot for us.

We celebrated our 30th anniversary with good friends. We had Kampachi, Squash Soup, Raviolo, Sweetbread, Black Cod, Foie Gras, Filet paired with Gls: 2014 Dunstan Chard, 2015 Guillemot, 2012 Caprili, Oscuro Nuevo. Excellent service once seated. Bar was slow at getting our cocktails when we first arrived.

So, I have been trying to take the wife here for a couple of years. As Michelin Starred restaurant and near our house, it seemed ideal for a special occasion. We were seating at our reservation time. When we go out to nice restaurants we like to share, so we ordered two starters and a steak. They had an NY Strip special and Filet available. We asked the waiter and he said the strip would have more flavor but they are both good. We also ordered the Curry Mussels Special and the Foie Gras. Drinks and a little Cheesy bread snack were delivered quickly. Some bread was offered. We normally don't fill up on bread but it looked good and was exceptional. The Mussels showed up in 15-20 minutes. We were not in a hurry so it was fine. They were very tasty and the portion was reasonable. Next up was the Foie Gras. That took 20-25 minutes. It was also very good and a rather large portion. Very rich but enjoyable. We started to notice that our waiter really was not coming by much. My wife's wine was usually empty for a while and then he would come by. Still, not a deal killer at this point. The steak took another 5 minutes and we we got it, we were not sure if it was the right steak. We wanted to check before digging in. We asked for our waiter. He took a few minutes to come over. Once we confirmed it, we took a bite. We both looked at each other, The crust was very tough and needed to be sawed through it and the edge pieces we very tough and dry. I tried a middle bite where it was still very pink (medium was ordered) and also dry and tough. We stopped right there because this was not a $50 steak. It took a few minutes to flag someone down and ask for the waiter again. By the time he showed up it was 9PM (7:30 reservation) and we were pretty unhappy. My wife wanted to handle but practically started crying and asked for the manager. The manager came over 10 minutes later.. She handled it well and we got some free dessert. Overall it was a letdown

The place is not as good as it was in the old days. The main dinner menu does not have enough choices and what it has is boring and over priced. But that does not keep the people away and the parking lot full. They still do not have raw oysters available to serve.

The raviolo appetizer was very good. Our entrees (the duck and the pork) were good but not great. The Pineapple & Coconut desert was very good. In general, it seemed like everything was priced about 20% too high for what we got. It was a little disappointing that we didn't find out about the mussels special until we overheard someone else being told about it as we were leaving. Probably would have gone with that for an entree if I knew.

This had been one of my favorite restaurants, but we did not have as good of an experience this time. The food was a bit bland and undercooked. Then, 3 of us had saved half of our meal for the following day and they lost the leftovers. With each meal being $30-45, that was a waste of a lot of money. Someone gave us their card and said to ask for him next time we came in, but a refund would have been much better. Who knows what they'll do for us next time...
