Friendly staff - great service - creative entrees - pretty environment
My favorite restaurant in Silicon Valley! Great for single, double, small group, large groups. The staff is absolutely the most professional, respectful, smart group! The food is always perfectly done! I love everything about the Vilkage Pub!
Incredible food and service without the pretension. Amazing Sommilier!
Consistently solid and seasonal food. Very fresh produce, blending traditional and modern approaches. Excellent service and phenomenal wine program.
Usually a great dinner but was a little disappointed with my last visit. Lacking detail including burnt potatoes. Hopefully just a one off!!
We were very excited to eat at this restaurant. Once we got there, we quite enjoyed the ambiance, the service is very attentive but did not enjoy the food because:
- my pasta was extremely rich, at the same time boring after three bites
- wife's cocktail had a piece of glass in it
- wife's duck breast's texture was unexciting, skin barely noticable
I'm a hobby cook and I feel like I could make a tastier (though less nicely plated) version of every dish I had there at home. In the face of the $ 175 I spent there I don't think I'll be going there again. I would summarize the experience as very disappointing.
Jure, our waiter was such a gentleman. We had the baked feta appetizer (very good & a large portion) and the chicken salad entrees (also very good & large portions). We took home the leftovers, as we saw that a lot of tables were doing. The wine per glass is very pricey, but, I guess that is expected in such an area where a lot of rich people live. It was full at 1 pm and very loud.
The Duck Confit was delicious and the service was fantastic. This is my go to location for businesses lunches/special occasions.
Efficient waiter and service was great!
Great service by Kemal. Appetizer of fresh scallops was an inspired preparation. Main courses excellent.
The burger is the absolute best! Favourite every time!
Having been here many times over the years for business and special occasions, this time was a disappointment. After being seated next to the kitchen, it took over 10 minutes for somebody, not our eventual waitress, to come by and ask for our wine selection - no cocktail request first. And several more minutes for our waitress to appear. Throughout the meal, while the secondary staff made regular appearances, our waitress attentiveness was at best sporadic. The food was generally good, but the prime rib was a disappointment - tough, chewy, and cool, while the accompanying bread pudding was dried out. We will likely go back, but not on a weekend evening, and with the expectation if significant improvement.
A lovely Sunday brunch with my spouse
This was our first trip to Village Pub and we loved it! After a scenic drive into Woodside from the heart of Silicon Valley, we were treated to very attentive service from the moment we walked in. With a 20,000 bottle cellar, we appreciated the sommelier's insights and decided on a lovely 2014 Hirsch East Ridge Pinot Noir. The entire meal was thoughtfully presented with special chef's touches along the way. Caesar salad with beautiful anchovies, peppered filet mignon, baked monkfish were among the highlights.
Don't forget to take a look at the extensive whisky, aperitif and dessert wine menu. Our waiter even found a way to "expedite" a chocolate souffle even though the menu asked for a 20 minute prep time. Top to bottom, Village Pub is a wonderful dining experience. Make a reservation and GO there... NOW!
Perfect as always although on a Thursday evening more specials would have been appreciated!
Wonderful as always.
Excellent service a quality food!
Great restaurant for a quite romantic dinner or to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc. We visited The Village Pub for the first time last Sunday to celebrate our son's birthday and it is now on my favorites list. We were met with genuinely warm welcomes as soon as we walked through the door and were led to our table immediately. We never felt we could hear our neighbors conversation because the tables were generously spaced apart. The waitress was one of the best I have had a chance to meet in a long long time. She was extremely well verse on the restaurant's offering and was kind enough to suggest splitting our dinners (two of us ordered salmon and two ordered duck confit) into two tasting menu so everyone could enjoy both the salmon and the duck. When the food came out they were plated beautifully as well. We ordered Chardonnay and Cabernet to go with dinner and they were both excellent. The desserts were amazing as well.
If you like great food but can do without the attitude you sometimes encounter at some fancy restaurants, you owe it to yourself to visit The Village Pub in Woodside.
We go there for the ambiance....and the great burgers. And amazing wine suggestions....
can't wait to go back!
The food is always nicely prepared and presented. Service was a little slow, for brunch, but attentive. We chose to sit outside on a beautiful day which was nice as it can be a little dark and noisy inside.
On that note, I find it odd that so many people bring their children to this place and I would prefer it be adults only, or an adult area. Even the best behaved kids get bored in a place like this and they negatively affect our experience with messiness and electronic gadgets. I imagine it’s very dark fficult fir a restaurant to impose or manage it though. By sitting outside we did avoid a large table with kids that looked a bit chaotic.
Good food, nice staff, VERY LOUD. We had to pretty much yell to hear one another. It is still worth it, but be prepared.
Love that Village Pub is known for their fresh, seasonal cuisine. I’m a big fan, but this last trip was a little lackluster. Maybe Feb is not a great time to dine there. The service was impeccable as usual. Look forward to dining there in the summer months.
Wonderful service - very professional (not cozy friendly, but what you would expect from a high-end establishment.) All 2 entrees arrived at the same time, food was well plated and appropriate temp. Properly garnished with fresh ingredients. Server was not intrusive, but attentive - allowed us to have a nice meeting lunch.
The cocktails and appetizer were amazing. The cauliflower soup beautiful, creative and olive deconstruction mind blowing. The truffled potato and cheese ravioli in a comte cheese sauce made our taste buds swoon. We split the pasta with truffle special as a mid course. The pasta was perfect, but the mascarpone cream sauce was overly salted and detracted from the truffles magic. The wine with main course was properly paired and very good. The main course, salmon, was tasty though the skin was 1/2 way crisp which made it chewy and inedible. The marinated veg sides were inventive and flavorful. We were sat right away, but not even water arrived for 20 minutes after our seating. Once service started it was very good. If you are on a date night, and don't want to listen to investment bankers, make sure you get a more private booth along the wall.
Great Cocktails & over all very nice experience.
Always the best service there and the best food - we love it and come for special occaisions and we were celebrating our Valentines Day the weekend after - never disappoints!!!!
My wife and I have been to The Village Pub a few times now and every time it is a delight. The servers are super friendly and helpful, the food is absolutely delicious and appropriate sizes for a 3 course meal, and the ambiance is perfect for a comfortable, romantic evening for two (without being pretentious).
The prices are a bit expensive, but for the level of service and quality of food we have found it to be a great value. We spend $150-200 for the two of us, where a comparable dinner at other high end restaurants in the area would easily be $300-400.
Went here for late Valentine’s Day dinner with the significant other. Food was amazing! Price point was much better than expected and I really enjoyed the Michelin star quality without the meal being prix fix. Service was outstanding
Two of us had an excellent meal and the other two were mediocre. The corkage fee
of 50 dollars is well beyond anything on the peninsula. The wrong dishes were brought
to the table. All and all, the value isn't there. There are too many restaurants to choose
from in the area to pay these high prices and be disappointed.
Ambiance is wonderful but the food is just too rich.
service always impeccable. A special of Turbot was not exactly the best. But their specials are usually excellent like the Flannery rib eye Steak. Amuse buche's are very delicious and fun. Wine list is imcomparable.
Always an amazing experience. Amazing food, outstanding service and beautiful ambiance.
Food and service were both excellent as usual. The wait time to get seated was horrendous (30 minutes)
The Village Pub has been our favorite restaurant for years and years. We have gone to the restaurant a hundred times. Our meals there have always focused on the best of fresh local ingredients, impeccable presentation, delicious flavors and a creative menu. This time was different. The food was nothing special and even sub average. The salad was served incompletely prepared, the goat cheese was left off! The soup was lukewarm! The dessert plate of cookies consisted of two supersized undercooked doughy cookies, like what you would get at Costco! One entree was a huge slab of hot goat cheese with cooked smoked salmon and mushy vegetables on top served with over-grilled dry bread. (The same bread that is served at the table, nothing special.) I mentioned to the waiter that I did not enjoy this entree and the manager took it off the bill immediately, which was professional. The normally fabulous VP fries were not prepared as in the past. They were thicker and unremarkable, not the usual long thin tasty frites! Our experience was so dissapointing that it makes me sad! I love the VP!! Please up your game Village Pub. We hate to watch your excellence and special fare become a thing of the past.
Nice atmosphere, excellent service. Great wine list. Seating a bit close and lined up in center of room. 3/6 dishes were superb (potato soup, scallop ceviche, sorbets). The other 3 (pasta, monkfish, ice cream) were good but not special.
Consistently good food and excellent service.
Horrible service, average food.
We came for our one year anniversary - we thought they could at least offer some cheap glasses of champagne to celebrate for the expensive meal. We were also creeped out by our server and disappointed with his service. He would stare expressionless and also did not offer any specials for the evening. We heard another server at another table give specials that we would have ordered and also act warmly and invitingly to his guests.
Outstanding service! Food was delicious and well presented and prepared. Not pretentious!
