FINALLY, next level food that was outstanding, but the service, wow, impeccable, which is such a rarity in the Bay Area, we’ve already booked our next reservation!
This is such a gem and a treasure. On the Peninsula the staff is always fantastic food is exceptional ! We had two duck breast a l'orange, lobster bisque soup for appetizers for myself. My lovely wife had a scallops appetizer with a cream hazelnut sauce and pasta, unbelievable!. Which would at any given time could have been the main meal.
And what can I say about Melody if you have gone to this restaurant you know.if you haven't you should, she is fantastic.
We had a five-star night thank you all again
The place is great for special occasions but pricey. Not a place I can go to often but would love to....
AMAZING Filet and AMAZING service. Blue was our waitress and she was great!
Lunch at the Village Pub was like a mini-vacation for me and my scrappy gal pal. Wonderful to have such a gem so close by! And the service! They made me feel so cared for with their kind and friendly service. Thank you!
Hello and thank you for asking....we have eaten at the Village Pub several times at different days...some lunch and mostly dinner.....Sunday night I felt that the music was a bit too loud. We had difficulty hearing our waiter who was very polite to repeat some requests. The food was delicious as it always is...Marc Garibaldi enjoyed his birthday dinner for sure....thank you Diana E Garibaldi
Requested med well steak, got rare. Requested no pork, got bacon on potato dish. Requested chocolate soufflé, got lava cake.
Melody always makes dinner at the Pub a special occasion!
Nice place but old school expensive
Brought Mom here for a birthday lunch. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. Will definitely be back.
The menu and quality of the food were both much improved over the last few times I've been there recently, and excellent. The service was good, but not great. The waiter had memorized everything in detail but wasn't really knowledgeable about details he should have known.
Our waitress was outstanding. She anticipated our needs and was very knowledgeable about the dishes. Food was excellent. The chicken with butternut squash and lamb dishes were enjoyed at our table. Desserts were cheesecake and a chocolate confection. Also very good. Wines tended to be on the high end of the price range. Wines that are as good or better are produced in California. Would have been to have some of them included in the wine list.
I always feel special when I eat at the Village Pub. The crab appetizer was sooooo good!
Amazing as always
It was great...
Love this beautiful restaurant tucked into a quiet corner of Woodside. It's the perfect place to take those with whom you'd like to have a nice conversation as you can actually hear yourself think. The food is good if a bit overpriced and the service can be spotty depending on your server and waiter.
The service and ambience was fantastic. I don't think any of the dishes were memorable. They tasted okay. We got the crab appetizer, duck entree & fillet mignon, chocolate souffle. The guy sitting in the next table was so loud.
We had a lovely birthday dinner. The food was excellent, the server was attentive and the environment delightful.
Very good service. The restaurant hires enough staff to be attentive to every table.
You cannot go wrong with Village pub! They will make you feel comfortable, fix anything that doesn't work for you if anything were to happen and Chris makes the best cocktail! One of the best restaurant in the bay area.
Our server was amazing. We had her the last time that we dined at Village Pub and loved her then as well. I wish I could remember her name, because she deserves recognition. Everyone one there is very friendly and professional. The food is excellent. The ambiance is relaxing, warm and romantic.
Such a gem of a place.
Incredible service and food.
Excellent all around!
Fabulous, elegant, but approachable meal!
New Years Eve!
We had a wonderful time on New Year's Eve. The restaurant looked festive and beautiful as we entered and all evening. There was a perfect vibe in the room - a clear feeling of lots of people having a good time. The crowd ran the gamut from senior citizens to twenty-somethings. Our server, Melody, was outstanding and we had the feeling of being cared for throughout the meal. When we asked if she had something specific, she would respond, "I have everything!" and make it appear. The food was delicious. We especially liked the amuse bouche (oyster), the soup, the pasta with mushrooms, the filet and the lobster. The pinot grigio from Alto Adige was a smooth and restrained delight. The French 75 was made to our specs and the best ever.
I wouldn't say the evening was a bargain, but I'd do it again on such a special occasion. See you soon!
Love the Village Pub and Tom P is the best waiter on the planet.
Our of town guests!
This has been our "go to" special occasion place for 30 years and it doesn't disappoint.
When paying $40 + for an omelette, expectation can be high. It was a delicious omelette but the scones were cold and stale. Service was good when the waiter was around but we did wait quite a while between courses. You know the price is going to be high when you come to the Pub but it needs to perform. I do not think the quality of the food and service justify the cost.
Wonderful dinner tradition! Best quality delicious dishes. Glad tonight was white truffle time!
As a long time admirer of this restaurant, I must report major disappointment in its overly arty offering this time around. The two dishes I ordered lacked substance and appeal. I hope this does not represent a trend.
It was truly a wonderful experience dining there. Just on the right side of “fine dining” attention. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly, unobtrusive, and attuned to our rhythm. Even though we had a 9:15 reservation, we never felt rushed at all. The set menu was well-balanced, with the egg nog amuse and the pheasant entree particular standouts. An exhaustive and not inexpensive wine list nevertheless has many fine offerings. A lovely comfortable room.
We love the Village Pub and especially Christmas Eve dinner for the atmosphere and ambiance. Unfortunately the food has been deteriorating over the years. While the presentation and the service are excellent, the quality of the ingredients is lacking which is a shame. This time the presumably sous vided meat looked nicely medium rare, but was a tough puck that would have bounced from the wall. Of course we did not try, but it may finally prevent our return.
Host and wait staff were OUTSTANDING. From greeting upon entry, throughout dinner and at departure the entire restaurant staff was superb. The staff totally made the evening a pleasurable experience. While arriving 15 minutes early for our 7:30pm reservations, we understandably needed to wait (standing) in the bar area until reservation time as the entire restaurant was completely full as was the bar area. We were seated in a lovely booth (as requested when making reservations), allowing for comfortable conversation. Three of us ordered starter salads (all excellent), and so my wife would not be without a dish, she was comp'd a small elegantly presented salad. Our main courses: the mushroom risotto was superb; my duck breast was excellent in taste and presentation but disappointingly only 'warm' (considered sending it back, though did not); the cauliflower steak was excellent and side of Miatake mushrooms was outstanding; but sadly the fourth main was a hamburger and fries...came cold and on the rare side of medium rare rather than medium. The staff was wonderful and quickly removed the dish and replaced it about 10 minutes later. The replacement was piping hot, with great fries, but sadly again the meat was not medium. Once again the staff was wonderful, understanding, apologetic and again offered to replace it, but our daughter politely declined. The restaurant showed outstanding professionalism and sincere concern, and while we declined ordering dessert they brought us four spoons and a lovely dish of three flavors of gelato and sorbet (all outstanding). Moreover the restaurant significantly adjusted our final bill, much to our appreciation. While kitchen mistakes understandably occur from time to time, the true test of a restaurant's worth and professionalism is how the staff handles the incident and responds to the customer...in this regard, The Village Pub is superb and unsurpassed. We of course will return and highly recommend TVP.
What a wonderful, special restaurant. Service and food was excellent. Everyone was attentive and nice and we had a delicious dinner. We ordered duck, Bavette steak and chicken, all delicious. The only thing I would ask is they have more choices of affordable wines. They have a gigantic wine list, and that is fine, but I want to spend my budget on good food...not really expensive wine.
I was anticipating much better food (as in the past).
The food was good, but i have definitely been more impressed on previous visits.
The food and ambiance were amazing. Village Pub is always a treat!
