This was the second time dining there in 2 days. The food was great and the waiter not good. Same waiter both times. Same experience both times. We had to repeat out order
Four times before he got
This establishment is over the top and the service is exquisite, but there is one thorn that mars the experience dining there and that is the selection of music. The choice of music brings this classy restaurant several notches down. Instead of soft classical or instrumental jazz they play rock and roll and it is an abortion to one’s ears. Not to mention that the music makes it difficult to carry on a conversation with my guests. I brought this issue up to management twice and it isn’t being resolved.
Unfortunately three of the four items we ordered did not taste particularly good.
My family dined at The Village Bakery and Cafe for Mother’s Day. Their front patio is set up perfectly with at least 6 feet between tables so you feel very safe. They have umbrellas and heat lamps to use depending on the weather. We had a terrific waiter, Francisco, who made sure we were well taken care of. The menu has something for everyone from hamburger to pizza to fried chicken. I wasn’t that hungry so I had the hamburger which was delicious. My husband had the fried chicken with the buttery biscuit and was very happy with his meal. Our daughter enjoyed the halibut special. They also have a nice wine and drink list!I definitely recommend this restaurant and plan to dine again soon.
Mother’s Day lunch, both the food and service was very good !
just a great spring Saturday night semi-post covid in woodside. close to perfection. simple food done well and attentive thoughtful servers. big aloha.
The restaurant was very busy as it was a beautiful day. But I had a reservation. They have a very nice expansive outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant as well as the patio in the back. The service was so SO slow and unimpressive. We waited a long time to order. I had to flag the server down. Then we ordered and I thought I’d get my drink before having to request it half way through my meal. I was never asked if I wanted a refill of coffee. When the food arrived, we requested condiments. We had to request TWICE. They never came. They automatically add a 20% service charge in lieu of gratuity. I wish I could have adjusted cause they only deserved the min 15%. For what we got, it was really overpriced. Ambiance is nice but I won’t be traveling to visit again.
This was our first time to the restaurant for brunch. We were lucky enough to get a reservation on Mother’s Day.
Parking was difficult, so expect to stalk someone walking back to their car.
Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Prices are in line with the quality of both the food and service. Get your wallet ready because it’ll be a great time.
Everything was just average- the cocktails, the food, the desert nothing bad just around average and not what to expect from given the price tag
Love it. Overpriced but really delicious food and great service. I’m addicted.
Very nice service & food!
Returned looking forward to introducing to the Dungeness crab roll to a friend. I had enjoyed it very much last month. However, I was shocked at how little crab salad was on each roll. At most, two tablespoons. The last time I was here, there was an abundance of crab . This time, a paucity of crab sat atop a Romaine lettuce leaf, resting on the roll. I almost sent it back but did not want to make a fuss in the presence of my friend. Very disappointed.
The outdoor setup is great, and our whole experience was very pleasant. I was disappointed in the food, though. It was fine, but not especially good.
My first time and I am so happy I tried this place! Food is awesome and service is excellent. Outdoor dining ambiance is wonderful!
Outstanding food and fun outdoor ambience. Friendly but painfully slow service.
Our visits here just keep getting better. Great ambiance; especially sitting outside. Our waiter was wonderful. He remembered us from a prior visit. Our table had a personal note for our anniversary celebration and they gave us dessert!
Todo estuvo delicioso, pedimos salmón y estuvo delicioso, los vegetales en su punto, el pan mmm riquísimo, la atención muy buena.
Great outdoor dining with socially distanced tables and all employees were wearing masks. Service was excellent.
Nice environment overpriced and small portions
Too much mayonnaise in the crab roll; otherwise everything very good.
I had lunch in the back outside area. It is covered with ventilation on that top. If you are really nervous about siting inside with walls - ask for a front outside table. This feels more like you are inside. I had a delicious interesting Greens and Grain salad - it is crunchy, a little bit sweet and I added a perfectly cooked salmon. I also started with an incredible cinnamon role. I really appreciated that the cream cheese frosting was perfectly balance - not too sweet. My only complaint was I ordered a pinot noir that I would say was bland. Overall a really delicious meal. Highly recommend.
It was a lovely lunch. I feel the waiter should of greeted us sooner than he did, but otherwise it was great.
Consistently good. Meals and baked goods are always amazing!
We celebrated a birthday dinner Saturday evening and had the best service and the best food. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
All was great
Good food and service. Nice outdoor seating
We love this spot. We come at least once a week and it feels like home. Keep the chicken soup on the menu please! Alejandro is the best waiter. He remembers what we like to eat and drink every time.
Terrible experience. Food was mediocre. $19 hamburger was really two patties with sliced pickles equivalent to a McDonald’s item for only $4. Martini in a miniature glass for $15. Small Caesar salad with very small piece of salmon almost $30. Imposed service fee of 20% with sales tax charged on the fee.
Bakery used to be my favorite restaurant. It is now a consumer ripoff and we will never go back. I feel cheated
All dishes were well prepared. Our waiter was efficient and attentive. As our last experience here, this was another great experience. Thank you!
We ate outside
Parking is a disaster. Show up 30 mins before showtime to find a spot to park. Otherwise, great place. Have business meetings here bi-weekly.
I was REALLY disappointed by our dinner last night. It was supposed to be a special birthday dinner for my 15-year-old twins. The hostess was extremely rude to start and placed us in the middle of the almost empty back patio, right next to another table...like 2 feet away. Not sensitive to COVID at all. When I asked to move she literally rolled her eyes. The food was fine, nothing special, and not worth $200.00 for the three of us. Lastly...they did nothing special for the birthday (other than a generic card) ...even when we ordered desserts. I will not be going again...the arrogance is unbelievable.
I love the remodel...really nice. Food was great. The outdoor dining nice too. I’ll be back.
Everything there is great except the music. Top 40 from the '70s, every song you never wanted to hear again in your life. My husband and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. We won't go back until the management does something about that inexcusable music. I can't recommend it until the issue is fixed, unless the person is hearing impaired.
We had a lovely evening at the Village Bakery & Cafe!
The service was quite wretched this evening :( We weren’t sat on the back patio as I requested in advance via OpenTable (which wasn’t a big deal/we didn’t even mention it to the host), but I was appalled by the difference between back patio & front patio service. This is my 5th (possibly even 6th) time to your restaurant in the last ~2.5 months, I’ve always had a wonderful experience on the back patio (hence why I keep returning with new guests!). Tonight’s experience was very different. Not only was service exceptionally slow (we watched nearly every table around us be served their entrees well before us even if they’d ordered after us), but we were basically ignored by our server (who I think was embarrassed by the long wait). Never asked if we’d like another round of cocktails, had to flag someone down for a refill of waters (& it was very warm today!). When our entrees finally arrived, they were all several minutes apart. The gentleman whom we asked about possibly moving an umbrella to further shade our table was very rude. I was very embarrassed as the person who suggested dining here to my friends & am hesitant to return :(
Great place! The food is excellent, the service prompt and friendly, the prices fair for such high quality food. Super happy that this place is here!
Fantastic food, service, and ambiance! I am already planning on coming back!
The pancakes were one of the best we've ever had.
On a very busy Saturday afternoon, the staff struggled a bit to keep things moving and were often unavailable for follow-on conversations about salt&pepper, more water, eat al.
While the outside front venue is necessary, the traffic on Woodside Road (especially motorcycles and, in our case, a major car accident) can make things a little interesting.
