All good. Service was excellent.
As usual, our experience here was wonderful. The guests we brought loved it too. The chicken and their turkey and bacon sandwiches were all great. Carlos, our waiter was outstanding. Thank you for making lunch another wonderful experience for me and my guests!
I have been a regular at Village Bakery over many years but last night was very disappointing:
- I ordered the prime rib, & the meat was very tough & grisly, I could only eat a few bites -- not what you would expect for a $45 entree.
-The service was very slow & inattentive -- even though the restaurant was very empty -- we don't mind paying 20% automatically on the bill if the service is good, but this was not.
- My husband & I are both gluten allergic & the desert menu had 5 deserts that had gluten -- the only non gluten option was ice cream. The waitress said she continually gets requests for gluten free options but the pastry chef won't provide -- is this customer oriented? (I do always enjoy the GF cornbread -- 10 pts for that)
- I ordered a decaf latte after dinner & was up half the night -- that only happens to me if it's decaf -- that was a big error!
So all in all, a VERY off night for Village Bakery.
Food, drink and service are consistently excellent here! They have outside heaters now as it's getting chilly and lots of outside seating in the front parking lot and back inside/outside patio. We had ahi tuna & chicken paillard which were both outstanding with a shared yummy cheesecake with strawberry sauce! Love this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
Outdoor location OK. Service OK despite a clearly inexperienced waiter. Food was terrible. Gloppy salad dressing. Tasteless fried chicken. Mediocre pizza.
Beautiful setting for a family brunch and the food was amazing as always
Even though service was slow and the soup and main course came out all at once. It was delicious. Hopefully with time the service will match the food.
Friendly service ,, brought our entire family
Perfect spot for a string of business meetings. Nick made sure of it!
Great service + food. Probably can’t be helped, but families with loud children could be sectioned off together!!
Always great food, atmosphere. We go frequently. Only concern is service once seated lags a bit more than it should. Host staff at the desk are excellent and once service is initiated it is good but the initial guest-waiter/waitress contact takes a bit too long.
Limited Sun brunch menu, but prepared good. Service was great and dining experience was causal and safe. Beware of the 20% service charge, especially when ordering drinks at the bar!!!!!!
Excellent food and good ambiance/
Trisha who is the manager helped our table as they were short of waiter.
Trisha acted very selflessly and so competently.
Thank you !
Marco our waiter was excellent, and our food was delicious !! We were celebrating are dear friends 91st birthday and I can’t believe that they had a card on the table for her (see picture) and they also gave us a complementary dessert which was such a surprise. I can’t say enough good things about the Village bakery…
The outdoor setting was great with the lighting, music, lively environment. The restaurant was a bit understaffed so took longer than desirable but the waiter overcompensated. Great server!!!
As usual, our experience here is stellar!
Great service, lovely ambiance, generous portions. Parking is definitely an issue so allow yourself a bit of extra time
Enjoyable meal. Excellent service. A little to noisy and parking has always been an issue. I parked at the Woodside Library.
I’ve written several reviews on the Village Bakery and Cafe. This is one of our favorite hangouts and the restaurant is always consistent Food, service, atmosphere is excellent. We love the outdoor dining.
Great dining experience. Our server was very attentive and there to make our experience relaxing and rushed. We started with the tomato and burrata salad that our server kindly requested splitting onto two plates. The chicken paillard was outstanding paired with the corn fondue and vert haricots. The lasagne on the other hand did not meet expectations. It was a modest sized piece, very dry placed on top of a tomato sauce lacking flavor. When we asked our server at time of ordering he recommended the lasagne as a excellent dish. We dine at Village bakery regularly and this is the first time one of our menu selections did not meet our expectation for the high quality village bakery is known for. Suggest the chef reconsider the lasagne recipe and make adjustments to improve flavor and presentation. We will be back to village bakery given the number of great selections on the menu but will not order the lasagne again. Thanks for the opportunity to share feedback. Best, Shelley
This is a really great spot for lunch. We were seated on the back patio and allowed to stay there long after we finished our meal.
Lovely place and ambiance, friendly service but the food is very, very disappointing. A pity.
Always a favorite of ours
The food here is consistently fantastic. The service is great. The outdoor seating areas are nice. Prepare for parking shortage during peak lunch period -- I had to circle several times to luck into a spot. Noticed that 1pm or later, it started getting easier.
I assume it is the impact of the pandemic, but the selection of offerings has narrowed. For exampkle, there was no salmon on the menu. The NY steak was on the tougher side, the chicken paillard was not as thin and soft as a paillard should be. The fried chicken was very good. The shoestring fries remain excellent as well as the Parker rolls. Overall decent, but not as good as it used to be.
We enjoyed our food but the wine came late and there seemed to be a backlog on the process. Overall we had a nice time but for a nice restaurant like this very high level of service and process per protocol is expected.
Great service and food set in a beautiful ambiance!
Love their brunch, but one thing to note is that their outdoor tables are extremely close together. My chair, for example, was back to back to the chair belonging to the next table. There was max 2 feet between my family and the party seated next to us. This made us super nervous given COVID. So, If you are careful about social distancing, this may not be the best place. Otherwise, food is delicious.
The ambience and service were delightful for a warm early Autumn dinner outdoors. I was surprised the Fried Chicken was so dry. The coleslaw and cheddar biscuit were delicious. Although I wish the biscuit had been warmer to melt the butter. The three of us topped off the evening by splitting a chocolate chip cookie with our decaf Café au lait and decaf Cappuccino.
We had a nice meal in the back patio. Food and service were very good.
Love this place. Don’t want to tell people about it cuz I love it so much, but I always do!
We had great service and a wonderful lunch. I'm glad we gave Village Bakery a second try. Thank you Nick!
This place gets mixed reviews, but our two experiences have been excellent.
First, we had great service.
Second, the food was outstanding.
The Caesar salad had a spectacular dressing, the falafels were great, as well as their pizzas.
Eating outdoors is still most appropriate.
Negatives? the music was too loud and it is a bit pricey, but, overall, a fine experience.
Requested a quiet inside table and this was accommodated. Butter lettuce salad was good. The sweet corn bisque was very good. The Thursday crab cakes special was good and came with fresh water cress on the side. Fried chicken was OK and came with Cole slaw on the side. Slaw was too watery as I prefer a dry non-dripping Cole slaw journey from the plate to my mouth. Cream corn was good and tasted like the corn bisque. We skipped desert. Bread and sides are a la carte. Service was adequate and a 20% service charge is added to the bill.
Parking is a nightmare. Once you circle for an hour and find a place to park, it's all good.
Trout was doused in butter. Tomato salad full of sugar. This place has so much potential but definitely missing the mark.
Had a lovely dinner outside last night. The cocktails and food were very nice as usual. They did seem to be either a tad bit too full or over understaffed, but that seems to be the norm these days at most places..
always reliable good food, good service and good atmosphere!
Happy to see this fun place open and serving...the food is very good, great cocktails and wine list. Was able to sit at the bar -- haven't done that in a long time. With all the extra tables outside it's a bit busier than the old days and staff seems a little stretched.
