The Vig at McDowell Mountain is the 5th member in the Vig family of restaurants and the 11th establishment in the Genuine Concepts family of bars and restaurants. This Vig boasts breathtaking views of the McDowell mountains while featuring 2 full-service bars, spacious indoor booth and table seating and more than ample outdoor facilities for games and activities.
The Vig at McDowell Mountain is in a new standalone building on the southwest corner of Bell Road and Thompson Peak Parkway. The roughly 13,000-square-foot space is designed to take advantage of mountain views with large glass windows and other elements that bring the outdoors inside.

We decided to give this Vig location a try since we have been to several of the others. Overall, the ambiance is nice...it feels like a comfortable, neighborhood kind of place. The food was quite good. Our burgers were cooked perfectly and while a little slow at times, the service we received was good. The only knock I had was the price for our glasses of wine with dinner. We did not order crazy expensive wine, but rather good quality wines by the glass. Four glasses of wine was $64. We had two glasses each. Total check after tax and tip was $148 and change. This was for two burgers, a piece of chocolate cake and four glasses of wine. Personally, I will find it hard to justify spending that kind of money for a casual burger dinner. The wine prices were high. A bottle of the Decoy Chardonnay is only $18 at Total Wine. The Pessimist that my wife enjoyed is a $15 bottle. I realize that restaurants mark up their wines quite a bit, but seriously, we paid more for two glasses each than we would have paid for two bottles at the store. We will certainly return to the Vig as the food and service is excellent, but not sure we'll come for dinner since we usually enjoy a couple glasses of wine with our evening meal. Maybe the Vig should have a wine special for earlier diners. Lots of other restaurants do something like this...Just saying.

We were introduced to the Vig two years ago. It was a quiet place to visit with friends while enjoying good food. It has become a version of Chilis or Applebees and not worth the price.
