They weren't serving a mixed drink I had wanted to order, so I was a little put off. However, the entrees we had were very good, and the desserts we ordered were outstanding. Our server was nice, but very new. Whatever questions she couldn't answer, she went to find an answer. We really appreciated that. We couldn't eat outside to enjoy the view as the weather didn't cooperate. We hope to either eat in the main part of the dining room or outside next time.
This was a fantastic dinner. We had the empanadas as a starter and they were fantastic; the crust was perfect and the fillings were awesome. We had salmon and brisket. The salmon was not dry at all and the brisket was the best I’ve ever had. Considering we spent a long while in Texas, this is high praise. We will definitely be coming back. Our only tiny complaint was that our waitress was not as attentive as we expected, but she was working the inside and the terrace. When she came by, she was the friendliest person out there.
Food was so-so. Very small portions. Expensive but a great place to enjoy cocktails and I would like to go back and try brunch. Our server was really great.
We have been here a few times and will keep returning. Great ambiance and a solid menu with good prep and presentation and the price is good too
Needs a better desert fare the only not great point
wonderful service and wonderful view! highly recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant night!
We were seated very promptly. Covid precautions were followed. Our server Lenny was very pleasant, energetic and efficient. Food was very good.
Beautiful place, food was horrible. My was tended but no flavor. My wife’s steak was tough and flavorless
Service was outstanding. The only reason why I gave it four instead of five stars was apparently we had the only server not wearing a mask that night. (is that even allowed? Especially since there are large disclaimers on the website enforcing mask wearing for patrons)
Also there was a large group of young women who seemed to be celebrating something and moving about the restaurant, going to restrooms, etc. and not wearing masks nor was it being enforced with them.
Otherwise this is an outstanding restaurant. Had an outside rooftop table as requested. Food and cocktails were delicious.
Anniversary with a beautiful patio.
We had a wonderful time at cocktail hour and dinner.
Food was exceptional and so was the service!
The service does not match the food, the price or the atmosphere - it felt VERY laid back and disorganized for what otherwise appears to be an upscale restaurant. Our server even opted to not wear a mask (very odd and disconcerting - thankfully we were seated outside). The other servers did wear masks.
Great view as we were able to sit outside. Food was very good. Service was ok. Waiter disappeared for stretches and others had to help out..
We had a wonderful first time experience! We will be back!
Food was nice. Portions good. Not really happy that our waiter dropped our bottle of wine. Terrible end for the evening.
What a great location and atmosphere. We will be back for sure. The food was delicious. Hight recommend the brisket and broccolini!
Wanted to try a new outdoor dining spot, found this by accident and it did not disappoint! Cocktails, appetizers (empanadas and smoked wings) were incredible! Our table had baby back ribs, short ribs, chicken and various sides. Everyone enjoyed the meal. The rooftop overlooking stadiums and roebling made for a fantastic view! Definitely going back!
Food was amazing, service was really poor
We had a group of 8 celebrating multiple birthdays. We were taken care of brilliantly from start to finish. We all loved our experience. Gabriella was our server , and she was magnificent; friendly, fast and professional The ambiance was relaxed and casual. All safety and compliance were done well. Everyone was mask compliant. Your space is absolutely beautiful, inside and out, the food was fantastic. Loved the empenadas, the wings were outstanding and the cheesecake perfection. Your venue is really my new favorite place downtown and I recommend it to everyone!!!
This was our first time at The View at Shires' Garden. We got a late lunch there and could not have been more pleased. The outdoor dining was fabulous with a stunning view. The service was still decent even with a bit of limited staff. I will be going back and would highly recommend.
Spectacular view and good food. Service was a little slow but very nice place to just sit. Not a huge menu at brunch but probably something for everyone.
We went there for restaurant week and loved our food. My husband ordered the leg of lamb and I ordered the short ribs. He loved the lamb and I’ve had the short ribs before and it is amazing. We are so glad they changed there menu. When they first opened it was hard to eat there. We did because of the view and we would just the burger because the quality was consistent on it.
I also have Celiac and they have become more allergy conscious.
Keep up the good work on making positive changes to please you customers. The last 2 times we’ve been there the manager came to our table and was interested in how our experience was. That is also a good thing.
Thank you for many our enjoyable experience and we will be back!
We enjoyed the Restaurant week specials and the Empanada appetizers. Service from our waiter Tommy was superb.
It was our first time at the Viewat Shires Garden. Our meal was delicious and I'm so happy we finally tried you! My only "complaint" and a mild one at that, was the chair I was sitting in: a bit too low and it seemed that the spring had seen better days.... We were indoors at a table for 4.
Everything was amazing. The trout was perfect & the monkey bread was the best!!
First time visit for restaurant week.
We were seated in the bar area, on a large sofa with a tiny table. Fine for just drinks, but not okay for a meal for two. We were accommodated with a move to a regular table.
Food was okay, but some of the portions were minuscule. In particular the agnolotti was microscopic.
Bar service was pretty slow, but the cocktails were quite good.
All in all we were not impressed. We went to six different restaurants during restaurant week and this is the only one we do not plan a return engagement.
We have been to the restaurant both inside and out and it never disappoints. Food and service are outstanding. Always something new and different.
The building the restaurant is located in is BEAUTIFUL. Nice setting and view. Food was good. Nice drink selection.
The service was very poor. Our sever paid very little attention to our table. It took almost 20-25min to get our first drinks. The server was not very engaged in taking care of us. The food was mediocre. I ordered the Cornish Hen and my date ordered the Trout. The Cornish Hen was only a leg or wing, not the entire hen. The trout was served with the skin up and over done. The best part of the whole meal was the wine. They do have a good wine selection. It just may take a half hour to get it.
It was a lovely view!
Excellent service, ambiance and food
We love the atmosphere and the food. We were disappointed we could not sit outside as they do not take outdoor reservations. However, they did accommodate us at a window table that was fairly private.
The brisket, only served on weekends, was tender and juicy. They had very testy seasonal vegetables to go with it. I would go back..
We arrived early and they still accomdated us. Great patio, great food but service is a bit slow, all the more time to enjoy the view.
It was a beautiful night to be outside. The service was a bit slow.
This wasn't The View at Shires' Garden finest hour. The service was extremely slow to the point that I counted how many staff members were on the floor and the number of tables in my view and could not understand why the service was so slow.
Upon arrival, we stood at the hostess stand for more than five minutes with multiple people alerting us that the hostess will be with us shortly that it became comical and sad. Once we were sat at our table, it was 15 minutes before the server came to the table. The hostess brought us our water. There were five servers working the patio/rooftop and it was not full. BUT the service was SLOOOOW.
I ordered the Wood-Fire Artichoke Salad again. It was the reason for me returning on this beautiful Sunday afternoon and introducing The View at Shires' Garden to a friend. The artichokes were straight out of the can, no wood-fire at all. The salad was smaller than I remembered and was missing the peppers, and the crostini never made it to the plate either.
The mimosa that my guest ordered had to be substituted with pineapple juice. Who runs out of orange juice at a brunch? Then midway through the orange juice was back in stock. Too late.
I will return as this is one of my favorite rooftops but whatever happened on Sunday, should NEVER happen again.
Great atmosphere and it was a perfect weather day. Brunch was amazing but you need to order the brisket with the eggs Benedict because there is no meat. Overall a very good experience.
Great service and a perfect view!
It took almost an hour to get a drink and even longer to be seated for our reservation. Once our food finally arrived 90 minutes later it was ice cold. The special dessert requested for our birthday guest consisted of a plate with four small cookies on it for a party of 10. It was embarrassing to say the least.
If you are dining with a party larger than 2, I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
My party of 7 waited more than 2 hours to get our meal (which ended up being after 10 o'clock for a 7:30 reservation. The waiter and manager did not even acknowledge they were running behind until 1.5 hours into waiting and us asking about the food.
Once we finally got our food, more than half of our orders were wrong and one of orders (chicken wings) was so burnt that it was inedible.
We complained, received little remorse from the staff and had to blatantly say "What can you do for us?" before anything was comped.
We ended up getting the food for free - but with having to wait 2.5 hours AND with some of us not even being able to eat the food.. It wasn't too exciting.
If you are planning a group get-together at this restaurant, I would pass. If it's a dinner for two.. you might be ok.
