The View at Shires' Garden
We like Sunday Brunch and today’s choice was the View at Shire’s Court - 10th Floor at 309 Vine.
We started with cocktails - $12 each - Boulvandien (bourbon based with sweet vermouth) - not sweet but a bit bitter and Tue Last Word (gin based) - could taste the lime. Both were good.
For brunch we both got Eggs Benedict - check out the photos. They POUR on the sauce!!! If I had known that I would have gotten it on the side. The server did offer to have them remake it - I said no - I would just scrape it off.
I had the Benedict with egg plant / spinach ($11) and my husband had the Benedict with sirloin ($14). Both were very good. (Except for too much sauce - people should be forewarned.)
The sauce with the mustard had a great kick to it. My husband really liked it.
We got a French toast ($11) to go for our son. It was a very nice sized portion and the syrup was packed on the side.
Our server, Sara, was very good and came back to check on us, our food, and refilled our water.
This is a hidden gem on our city!
Very impressed! Will definately go again. Will be super fun in the summer with the outside deck
Food was great. Small portion, really cool spot.
The roof top was blissful, cocktails lovely, and food divine. A delightful culinary experience!
We wanted to enjoy Blink and the Lit up Singing Roebling Bridge from an aerial view- there is no better place than Shires. It did not disappoint. We had a group of 12 friends and had a wonderful evening. Sean, Mark and “Red” as she called hersel, took amazing care of us. We shared food, drinks and lots of laughter. This is what Cincinnati is about!
While we had reservations, we decided to sit at the bar and we had a wonderful time. our food was delightful and our bottle of wine was fairly price and perfect with our meal. A great time on a busy evening with views of the Roebling Bridge lite up for BLINK.
Love this place. Third visit in a month!
We waited quite awhile before anyone waited on us. My husband received the wrong order. The server that did wait on us was excellent and very apologetic for the wait and mix up on the order. Even bought us dessesrt, no problem with him at all and it wasn't even his table. Thanks for the experience but probably won't be back.
Dinner & view were fabulous
It is possible that they were not ready for the influx of people that came from Blink, but the amount of time it took to receive drinks and food was unacceptable.
While our waiter was very attentive, to start with, a number of people around us sat for ~20 minutes with no attention.
I hope they can solve their service issues, as the food was great!
Terrible service. Food wasn’t worth the price (everything was over cooked). View was nice though.
Have been there five times and each time it was excellent.
Great terrace and service. Inside looks very cozy....Good happy hour deals...though we missed that.
The view was outstanding. Food was wonderful and creatively presented as well.
The view is phenomenal so that alone makes it worth it. We went on a Saturday night and ate outside on the patio. After delivering our food, I don't think we saw our waitress until asking for our bill. That service soured the entire experience.
Terrific location. Absolutely loved the outdoor seating and the view. If not for that though, probably wouldn't recommend this place to friends. The menu contained a lot of lavish-sounding items with rare ingredients and accouterments, but was overall underwhelmed by how it all came together. I had the tuna nicoise entree. The tuna loin was encrusted in a salty, savory herb blend that seemed to battle with the brine-y tapenade and the peppery greens that came with it. My wife ordered the bourbon-glazed roasted chicken, which was pretty dry and generally underwhelming as well. For the price points for both of these dishes, I definitely wouldn't order again. That being said, the "For The Table" charcuterie board was perfectly fine. Also, the wait staff was very friendly and helpful, but we waited for what seemed like an unreasonable amount of time for both wine and entrees in the 2+ hours we were there. I'm willing to forgive that as they are a new restaurant finding its groove, but nonetheless did not contribute to a good experience, so I'm perhaps being a bit generous with a 3-star rating.
Good was very good. Love the decor
The food was mediocre. No bread was served or available on the menu. I ordered a beefeater martini up. The glass was not chilled, no blue cheese olives available and after dinner no Gran Marnier. Upscale restaurants are held to a higher standard and it certainly does not meet Jeff Ruby's standard I can assure you. The restaurant is lovely, the location is good. The rooftop lounge is very nice and overall there is a lot of potential. It's new so we will give it another try down the road.
Superb view of the bridge and Ohio River from the rooftop dining area. Creative and tasty lunch and dessert menu. Knowledgeable, friendly server.
This place was great. I am hesitant to go to restaurants in their first 6 months but we gave this one a shot for an anniversary celebration. We loved the location and atmosphere. The food was fantastic and the service was top notch. We will be adding this to our rotation.
Unique menu with some nice food combinations. Server was very helpful making recommendations.
Great new downtown restaurant. Spectacular views/ambiance, good food & drink selection.
Wait service has been poor however. More than once staff was slow to visit table once seated. Less than friendly/cold wait staff last time visited.
We were initially seated near the hostess stand where there is a row of tables. They were way too close and I felt like I was at community seating and not in a good way. We had a political thing going on our left and a couple in an argument to our right. We did asked to be reseated and the hostess was very gracious to do that. My suggestion would to be pull out one two-top table and create just a little bit more space for your patrons. It’s too expensive of a restaurant to sit on top of each other. For the sake of cramming.
I had made reservations for my husbands birthday and when we got there, we were informed that it was restaurant week and it was a limited menu. I was a little irritated bc I didn't know the menu would have very little to choose from. I wanted to have a nice birthday dinner for my husband and this surprise wasn't a good one. This place was referred to me by a friend and it was the first time my husband and I had ever been to Shires Garden. I can't recommend the food but I would recommend maybe going to have a drink and look at the view.
Awesome restaurant, food, and views!
The day was a hot one, so we didn't eat outside even though the view is terrific. The inside is also beautiful, and the food and service were excellent. The piano playing lightly in the background was also a very nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed the celebration of our anniversary.
Beautiful view and delicious and creative food.
We loved it ! The building is beautiful ! The view was fantastic the service was excellent the food was also excellent! Thank you, we will be back and will spread the word !
with a level of explanation ..the food was okay .. the view awesome.. Bar was nice.. the tables for two are to small to eat comfortably .. for that reason I wouldn't give a strong recommendation without some explination ..
The roof top outside dining was great on the nice fall evening. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff was very friendly and worked as a team. Will go back again and highly recommend
The view is amazing and the food is just as good. The ambiance inside and outside is fantastic and comfortable. Another great concept from Juan and the Ignite Group
It is set in a spectacular spot in the city, views are stellar. I liked the fact that if you have a large party you can sit at a picnic table....however, the service was sllllooooww and it wasn’t really crowded so there was no excuse. The food was just ok and we rarely saw the server so it was an effort just getting water refilled. We will try again, because everyone has a bad night now and then.
This place is beautiful. Decor is pretty swanky. The staff are friendly. Went for after work drinks. Wish there was a bar menu because we would’ve liked something to snack on that wasn’t heirloom carrots (not knocking the heirloom carrots because they really are delicious). Went back to try their restaurant week menu. I had the falafel (good - pretty hard on the outside but flavorful. The other elements could benefit from a bit more seasoning), chicken (great- my husband would need 2 but perfect for me, delicious sauce, probably the best polenta cake I’ve ever had. Very nicely plated), beignets (filled fried dough- can’t go wrong). Had a great time and especially enjoyed their wonderful outdoor space.
The view is stellar. The interior decor is superbly classy. Even with Oktoberfest going on, the patio was a relaxing and beautiful environment - almost all of the light is ambient, from nearby buildings.
Unfortunately, the service from start to finish was really spotty. A friendly and well dressed host who was not taking enough initiative in seating guests allowed a large group to barge in and attempt to persuade other guests to consolidate tables. Servers seemed to disappear for a long time to find something as simple as silverware. One server walked around with a water pitcher, ignoring any table that was not their own.
The food was better than expected given the lackluster service. The drinks were delicious although they were out of items necessary to make at least one of the featured cocktails.
Diner beware: I saw multiple people spill drinks on themselves because of the poorly designed slotted tables on the patio. I had to hold my partner's plate to keep it from tipping while they cut their steak. If I saw this in the span of 2 hours, I imagine this is a fairly common occurrence. What a quick way to ruin any evening.
This is a great spot with so much potential - I never write reviews but would hate to see the ambiance of this spot blown by a few glaring details.
Made Rez here on OT. Called to confirm. Texted to confirm. Sent daughter and husband there (from out of town) and they didn’t have my Rez. Not even in my name. FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. They were sweet but honest with me and said they could not even chew the steak and the fish was welllll fishy. Which means not fresh. Very very disappointed as the atmosphere is amazing. Really would like my money back for the horrible food. Including the appetizer!
The atmosphere was wonderful and the view is amazing!
Food was average, service was good, but the outside patio has an incredible view of the city. We ate outside on a beautiful night, and the patio can’t be beat. The menu is lacking and the food just average. Might come back for a drink and maybe an appetizer but not for dinner. Probably won’t come during the winter months.
One of the best places I've been in downtown Cincinnati. If you can only go to one place, choose this first!
Delicious lunch. Well prepared and served.
Wish parking was complimentary. Paid $15!
Not only was the view outstanding, so was the food and the service. We went for the sunset and to celebrate a birthday. Our servers were knowledgeable and efficient. Everything from the ambience to the food was excellent. Thank you for such a great experience.
