My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our Restaurant Week dinner. We chose this spot mostly for the outdoor aspect of dining since COVID is still a part of life, but we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was presented and tasted, the wonderful ambiance, the spot-on level of service--just enough attention and availability. I want to thank your crew for putting on such a wonderful dining experience given the difficulty of doing so while masked and socially distanced and all of the little details that have to be considered. Thank you!
Very disappointed, service was slow and non engaging. We make a reservation ahead of time for the restaurant week prefix menu and upon being seated were told they were just not doing it that night even though the fliers were all over the restaurant. No apologies or any explanation. Food was microwave quality at best, salmon sald and tacos not great
Great, we had to wait for 30 minutes since seating outside was a popular choice. Overall the food was great and service was good as well.
Worst service from a restaurant. Waited over an hour without being checked on or updated by our server Estela. After cancelling our food order due to no longer wanting to wait for salads and an appetizer we were still charged for food we never received. Upon refunding Estela refused to give me her managers name stating it was not necessary. After asking a different employee for the managers name (Antonio) we were told “THAT IS COVID FOR YOU”. We left extremely upset with service and the way management handled the situation.
The food was delicious. The seating was among the most comfortable I've experienced in a restaurant. The service was a disappointment. It may have been a new server so I wouldn't rate the restaurant on that.
My husband and I had an enjoyable Friday night meal on the deck. Food was good. Our server Estela was awesome. Pretty view. Parking was a bit challenging due to no concierge with Covid but it felt nice to walk after we ate!
The view and resort facilities are amazing, but the food was marginal. Over priced Denny’s comes to mind. I would go again for the view and a cocktail, but I’d eat dinner elsewhere.
Food was good. Service was very good. There were ants crawling along the windowsill next to us and even had one or two on our table. Not sure if that is normal or not, this was my first time eating at Linwood’s. Wouldn’t go to chaminade just for the restaurant, but it’s good if you’re already there.
When we reserved on line the information offered was that it was a buffet with no notice the buffet closed at 6:30. The menu offered was adequate and the quality of the prime rib was excellent but the lovely meat was served cold. Not frozen but definitely not warm enough for food. And there was no salad offered with the buffet-substitute meals. Our waiter was adequate although he seemed very shy, not getting nearer to our table than about 6 feet except to put the dishes down. We felt he really did not want to be there. He wasn’t rude at all, just stand-offish which we thought a bit strange.
It wasn’t the best. I’m sorry. It was cafeteria seating. We all enjoyed the salads. Our waitress Artemia was very attentive and kind. She was the high point. The food was flavorless and in some cases inedible. We were floored by the price as it compared to the poor quality and lack of ambiance. It felt as though we paid 60.- a plate to eat at a school cafeteria.
Not for Thanksgiving Dinner buffet - seated over an hour later than booking. Over crowded dinning service. Food is so so.
Staff are friendly.
Poorly executed buffet. Over crowded, poorly managed. Staff is completely and understandably overwhelmed. Lines, lines, lines. Poor seating. Institutionalized. Mediocre food.
The food.is good and.under normal circumstances the service is good. But we went on Thanksgiving and while we were on time for.our 4:45 reservation we weren't seated until 5:45. They told us that by the time we got there they had 900 people come through the buffet. They had opened up all their banquet rooms but not all the tables had lights. And by then the staff was punch drunk. Avoid on Holidays
Wow, the mussels were superb! The prawns were, too. Now I'm sad because I didn't pick up more! I didn't want to appear piggy.
The server was helpful and sweet.
The quantity of food was amazing. Really fun, yummy array of dishes.
Grandkids thrilled with creating their sundaes, and adorning ice cream with marshmallows, candies, etc., etc.
We loved it.
I wanted to like my experience but was disappointed by the hour wait for my reservation and the utter disappointment in the room I was put in at a long table set for 4 people, too wide to converse and located right next to an exit door that servers went through constantly. So not worth my time or money.
The food was great, but ran out fast on certain items. The wedge salad was good, but had some dirt in side. Other than that I would definitely go back for the Thanksgiving buffet.
We didn’t get seated until 45 minutes after our reservation. The food was good, not great, and the variety and presentation were nothing special. I was excited to see a seafood station with oysters and smoked fish. Until I peeled a shrimp to see that it was not deveined. Yuck.
The experience was a disappointment. We will not go back.
The Thanksgiving turkey and all of the fixings were on par with Mom's. Great job, Chaminade!
We were there for the Thanksgiving buffet. Valet parking was $20 dollars and self parking was limited and a long walk in the rain to the restaurant. We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated even though we arrived right on time for our 1:30 pm reservation. There were so many people waiting that there was no where to sit. No coffee, water, etc offered during the wait. Once seated we had a great table by the window overlooking the Bay. Our server though scarce was friendly. The food was okay. The variety of options, including vegetarian options was very good. The price seemed a bit high at $65 per person given the mediocre quality. It was very crowded and noisy.
Thanksgiving buffet was well prepared. Good variety and high quality. Turkey was moist and everything looked fresh and good. Process of ordering wine was made difficult by waiter that didn't see that we had no info on the table about wine/selections. Had to ask for table tent that explained options + a wine list.
There were fewer dishes to choose from when compared to last year, yet the price seemed to have increased by about $20 per person. $65 per person is comparatively more expensive than other buffets that have an equivalent or better menu. We may or may not be returning next year. An additional comment regarding oysters on a half shell that were not served this year; my grandson loves them and was looking forward to eating them again this year so he was disappointed when they weren’t offered as part of the Buffett menu.
It was a busy day but service was great. The seating area by the fire was cozy and you could watch the game. I wanted to hang out after dinner but we had a child with us getting bored. I would go again. Noise level was surprisingly not bad considering it was Thanksgiving.
I have been to the Thanksgiving and Christmas buffets several times. They are always a spectacular spread of holiday food, worth every penny. Thus, I know that this Thanksgiving was not their first rodeo. Nevertheless, they appeared to be raggedly winging their procedures and staff training for reception on the run, and this after they had been open for a few hours. The food was plentiful and wonderful and replenished quickly and the wait staff was warm friendly and efficient. All in all, it was again a great choice for a holiday meal. They just need to get their reception better organized.
The staff was friendly and efficient. The food as always ways was extraordinay. The variety of choices was amazing. My family and I have been eating here for decades and I think its a good deal for such good quality.
I have been to Linwood's before and had a much better experience. This time it was mostly aggravating. It was Monday all night happy hour and it was NOT happy for us. The bartender was stubborn and inexperienced and hassled our waitress. In fact, he was most of the problem for the backlag of the evening for all the customers. Our waitress was very apologetic and offered to buy our drinks. Food was also slow to arrive but enjoyable . They have a good burger and the tempura vegetables with aioli are tasty as well. Hopefully this was an off night for them! I will try once more.
Amazing views overlooking the mountainside with spectacular ocean views. The food was well prepared and service was quick.
We had a reservation for 6:30 and it was 6:45 and they're still trying to figure out who is going to help us. We were seated and no one other than the bartender helped us. It took forever to get drinks or even our order in if it weren't for the bartender we would have walked out and left. I ordered a steak medium rare and they brought it over medium well. Overall pretty bad experience
The only good thing about this place is the amazing view during sunset. Making a reservation doesn't seem to do a thing as I made a reservation, waited and waited. The hostess made it sound like she had to clean a table and we would be seated. Nope. 25 minutes later I asked her what is going on... oh she can seat us at a window inside. Absolutely not. It was hot and stuffy, we already missed the sunset at this point and how long would it be to even get a drink let alone our meals? We left. Should have left 20 minutes earlier.
VERY POOR SERVICE!!!!
Went somewhere else and within 20 minutes we were eating our appetizer.
Get it together Linwood's!
Food and views were excellent. Unfortunately, front desk would not sit us by the window and there were lots of empty tables there.
Our experience was abysmal. From an extensive wait to be seated we overheard no less than three other parties disputing their bill and complaining about the service. There were four on occupied two top tables in sight throughout the wait. The room manager and a waiter were openly discussing house business while walking around the table which we were seated. The waiter, when he appeared to take our order, was defensive and his unwillingness to introduce himself and his body language spoke volumes about how much he wished he was not there. Water was served with lemon to which my wife is allergic, and the ten minute wait for water without lemon which didn’t appear caused, along with all the other negative experiences we witnessed, us to lose confidence and leave the restaurant for other fare. This occurred during restaurant week, a time when restaurants are highlighting their qualities. It was a less than one star experience.
Hadn’t been there in years. I expected higher end. Felt more like a conference room. No table cloths. Fake wood tables. Cheap chairs. Dinner was good but nothing to write home about. I’ve heard the brunch is good. So maybe I’ll try again, but not for dinner.
The view outside is beautiful and the food was great. Inside gets noisy so choose an outside table.
Service here is always a problem. If this restaurant ever got that issue under control it would be a great place.
we celebrated my wife's birthday out on the patio w friends. i had the hamburger....delicious....we also had the calamari for an app....my wife had rib eye....also delicious....the evening was really nice...good service.....great setting ....very pleasant on the patio....would go there again
We arrived at the time of our reservation but had to wait for 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. The hostess finally acknowledged us but quickly went off again without seating us. After waiting an additional 15 minutes we left without having ever been seated. Restaurant didn’t seem to be particularly busy just poorly managed.
We had a great time and we loved the food! We went there to celebrate my friends birthday.
I made a reservation on Open Table for an outdoor table, and when we got there, we were told that all the tables were given to walk-ins. The hostess seemed extremely overwhelmed but was trying her best with the situation, and the restaurant seemed understaffed. We were forgotten about on the waitlist, and when we finally got a table outside, the waiter never came over to us. After 25 minutes of waiting for a server to greet us, we decided just to watch the stars on the grass. Never got food. Gorgeous view, terrible night of service. Shoutout to the bartender for saving our experience.
Our server barely checked on us and we had to wait forever to get plates for the buffet, drinks, checks, etc.
Food was great, sunset view from deck was great. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was a man at the table next to us who talked loudly on his phone through the whole meal, oblivious to both his toddler and his neighbors.
