   The man playing music was too loud so we couldn't hear our conversation with each other. The waitress seemed overwhelmed by all the tables she had to serve. the salad was drowned in salad dressing.

   We eat lunch here almost every week, just to enjoy the view and the location. The food is always good or very good. The management of the restaurant is the worst I have ever seen in any restaurant, and the poorly trained, ever changing staff struggles with everything. It is like being in a reality show of how a terribly run restaurant just goes on and on.

   We were here for the NYE Pre fix dinner and dance party later on but the dinner is just a complete waste of money. It was a four course dinner which we paid $125 each per person. Not worth it. For that price we would expect a better quality of food and service. Our reservation time is at 9:00 PM for the dinner but we didn’t get seated and have our table ready until 9:40 PM. They’re so busy at that night but also unorganized. The food is lousy. I’ve never had an oyster that tasted old. The overall dinner experience is just so horrible that we won’t eat here again.

   The service was disorganized and confused. They didn't have the beer I asked for so instead of asking me they brought something I didn't like, finally got something I wanted. We waited half an hour for the salad and another 30 minutes for the main course which arrived cold. We had to keep asking for our food. I don't think we will go back for new years again.

   My family and I went out to dinner for New Years Eve. Neither open table or the restaurant indicated that there was a preset menu for the evening . The service was terrible , the waitress didn’t even ask what we wanted to eat . She just showed up at our table and gave us salads . About 20 minutes after that another person showed up with entrees . No one asked us what we wanted to eat. Extremely disorganized and for the HUGE bill we had to pay cause it was a preset menu I will NEVER go back . I use to work in the food service industry this was a terrible way to run a restaurant

   Beautiful location, sadly food and service did not measure up to it for brunch for 6. All dishes were cold, eggs ordered over hard arrived runny and benedict poached eggs were hard (!). Forgotten critical components (like syrup for French Toast and Pancakes) and multiple ask later ensure everything was stone cold for all diners to eat.

    Such a beautiful view. This was a lovely restaurant with very good food. The tempura green beans and calamari were terrific appetizers. We will definitely be back.

    We went for the Christmas Buffett. It was wonderful. The food was high quality and well prepared. The was something for everyone - vegans, vegetarians, omnivores and kids. Seafood was the stand out - crab, shrimp, oysters, clams, muscles, scallops and salmon were all available. Prim rib was my husband's fav. We recommend this Buffett highly . The setting was delightful.

    The food was excellent! We were there for the Christmas buffet, and every single thing in that buffet was delicious! And, of course, the view was amazing! The service, however was pathetic. When we were sat, we were promised that someone would be over to turn on the heater (we sat outside) right away, and that a waiter would be over to take out drink orders. After over 30 minutes, neither of those things happened. I bussed my own dishes, and poured my own water. Finally, my daughter was able to flush someone down, and it happened to be the general manager (I think it was Daniel)! We told him what was going on, and he was embarrassed and apologetic. He promised to make things right, same he did! Free drinks, and lots of attention from that point on. He helped make our Christmas dinner really nice!

    We went for the Christmas Day buffet. Tables were spaced a perfect distance apart, food was refilled consistently, everything was fresh and delicious, staff was amazing and attentive. Will come back.

    The food was wonderful and you offered my favorites boulabaise and leg of lamb. The only complaint is...leg of lamb should have been cooked longer. When it's rare, it's not only difficult to cut it's difficult to chew. Otherwise, I loved everything especially the yams, the desserts, the salmon, the oysters . . .everything. See you next year.

    I expected a higher end fair. The sides were mediocre and lukewarm from the food warmers. The prime rib and lamb undercooked. I got a stomach ache a bit after I got home. It wasn’t from overeating… I’ll steer clear of buffets in the future.

    The buffet, stuck away in a corridor, featured overcooked scrambled eggs, and poor-quality bacon. The potatoes and sausage were OK. The price —$25—was moderate, but we didn't go there for that. We wanted a great breakfast commensurate with the reputation of Chaminade. We found no reason to return as Santa Cruz abounds with better breakfasts.

    The setting is really nice. The views are incredible. When the weather is nice, try to get a table outside. My filet was cooked perfectly and my husbands salmon was done nicely as well - crispy skin but moist and flaky. The only issue was our son's fish and chips...chips were great but the fish batter wasn't cooked all the way through. The dough was raw. We told our waiter - we understood that it was a busy night and didn't want to cause any waves since this was the first time we had any issues with the food at this restaurant. We're locals and we will be back to this little treasure on the hill in the woods of Santa Cruz.

    I experienced kind, professional waitstaff. . I love the view and the inside ambiance is lovely from walking in upstairs down toward the fireplace to our table. It's a Santa Cruz Gem!

    The live music was fantastic! We weren't expecting it but we're presently surprised. We went for my son's 9th birthday and everyone loved it. We loved the food - we loved the atmosphere- we loved the service..... it was amazing! So greatful.

    We normally eat here for lunch once a week. Good food, terrible management, poorly trained staff. New owner/management as bad, or worse, than previous. For the quality of the resort, it is incomprehensible.

    Leaving 5 stars on everything so thr good isn’t dragged down by the bad. Food impeccable. Not a lot of places in Santa Cruz to get anything decent, nevermind great. We tried the namesake salad which was like a Waldorf and great. The calamari was crisp and tender. Sou-Vie filet was like butter but had a great sear to it. Mushroom sauce was drinkable. Service was non-existent but didn’t care considering the atmosphere and cuisine. We will be back. Almost would be better as a self serve or at least just leave a pitcher of water on table if you can’t find the time in a dead restaurant to refill or fill at all for that matter. Felt like we were inconveniencing everyone for even being there. I’m surprised we got our food, which actually came out quickly and hot food was hot, cold food was cold. Oh, and the ginger Mariane sandwich…fantastic.

    The view of the Monterey Bay was beautiful. The value of the meal was below average. It was expensive. I was told some alcohol was included but that was not the case. There was $20 for parking. Usually it is free. The buffet food was average, we have had better. The desserts were extremely disappointing. There was no whip cream for pumpkin pie and no pecan pie at all.

    We would have loved the small amount of time the serving person spent with us to have been better. Our cocktails took forever, and due to it's being a buffet, we had a few plates and there seemed to be no one clearing them. Also,letting folks know where the dessert course was located would have been nice. The view is unrivalled - we"ll come back for happy Hour and sit at the bar.

    The View has a fantastic organic Thanksgiving buffet. The quality of all the 30 selections was extremely high. Flavorful turkey, ham and beef. Delicious stuffing, yams, green beans and gravy. The oysters at the sea food station were very fresh. The King Salmon was very tasty. The deserts, especially cheesecake and berry pies were perfect.

    We're regulars, and really like it here. The view is beautiful, service is excellent, food is usually great. This time was a bit disappointing - the kitchen "ran out" of persimmons and didn't 86 the persimmon salad (and didn't tell the servers), so we got our salad and it was tomatoes instead of persimmon. The squash risotto was great but didn't include the squash blossoms (a key feature of the dish), and the kitchen failed to inform our server about that too. Our server was excellent and overall it was still fine, but the kitchen clearly needs to learn how to communicate with service staff.

    Love this place. Brought out-of-state foodies this time and was a hit. The Diana Salmon salads were amazing -- one guest said the salmon was the best she had experienced. Other brunch/breakfast entrees were very good. Service and view were outstanding. Doggie menu was fun -- our dog ordered the muttballs! Have I mentioned that I love this place??! We had guests with hearing issues, so the extraneous noise from nearby tables was difficult, even though we were outdoors. Luck of the draw that we were seated next to extremely loud tables. Difficult, but overall, a good choice!

    Food was very good and view is beautiful. Service was not very good. There was confusion about who was waiting our table and we made a reservation in advance but they gave us one of the worst tables outside even though some of the better tables were clearly available throughout our dinner. There was a noisy drunk obnoxious lady sitting by us.
