Enjoy some afternoon tea with delicious tarts and pastries at the Victorian Tea Room. This restaurant serves sandwiches, salads and tea in a cozy space that boasts a lovely mix of contemporary and classic furniture with an adjoining outdoor dining area. This restaurant’s star feature is its tea menu, which includes a list of over 50 teas. The Victorian Tea Room also serves gluten-free fare (on request).
Spread across several floors, this family-run restaurant is an ideal choice for a light-dining experience with friends or family. The Victorian Tea Room also boasts private party facilities that can be used for birthdays, intimate gatherings or corporate events. This casual-dining restaurant is open Tuesdays to Sundays.
Had an amazing family high tea. Our table for 10 was set and ready on arrival. Service was very efficient. The scones with cream and preserves were OUTSTANDING!!! The rest of the food was very good, but not exceptional. Great selection of teas. We were never rushed to finish or leave. Overall a very pleasant experience.
We brought my 4yr old and my 7yr old, and they had a wonderful time! My sister and I really enjoyed it too.
My friend and I returned to the Victorian Tea room, our second time. The food is fresh, delicious, and served in such a beautiful high tea way. The staff are welcoming, friendly and a joy to be with. We even were able to view the party room downstairs; it was beautiful! Great place for 45 or so with a liquor license too. Decorated so nicely and you would truly feel you were at the palace for high tea. I'm wanting to keep them in mind for any showers or partys coming up. Of course we'll be back but maybe introduce some of our friends to the Victorian Tea Room.
The victorian ambiance was very quaint and sophisticated at the same time. Service was very helpful and unobstrusive. Food was excellent too, the scones were fresh out of the oven. Only thing i disliked were the little tarts with goat cheese.
Food and service is great!
The tearoom was extremely cold. They should invest in a better heating system. I ordered the citrus tea, but did not tease any hint of lemon or orange as suggested on the menu. We wanted to have high tea, but there was a miscommunication, so we ended up having the tea and salad combo, not what we wanted. Ended up going elsewhere for a sandwich. The cost was rather pricey for what we go. But the service was excellent, minus the waiting, since there was only one wait staff.
Travis was a friendly and great help in choosing tea. He is clearly very passionate about afternoon teas and his tea room. The sandwiches was nicely done and the scones were just delicious. It is very hard to find scones that good in the GTA. However the petite fours are little disappointing. To me, they was mass production in a factory and brought in. But the choice of tea (over 50) made up for the lack of sweets and the scones were so good that I didn't ear the petite fours anyway.
The sandwiches were fresh but the tuna and smoked salmon were fishy. The tea and scones were delicious. The petit fours were lovely but unmemorable. I'd find a different caterer for the dessert. The service was excellent. I'd return for the Te scones and cucumber sandwiches
While the food was fresh and nicely presented, the selections were mundane and unimaginitive;Plain egg , tuna salad etc. Scones were warm and yummy! Petit fours looked commercially prepared and somewhat unappealing. We were never offered a refresh for our tea. While our afternoon tea experience was pleasant enough, it was overpriced for what we received. I wouldn't not go out of my way to return.
Went here for Afternoon Tea and was not disappointed. Lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes. The scones were freshly baked and extremely light! Delicious! Will definitely be back.
Lovely food and service but the decor could be quainter, updated
Overall it was a good experience. My friend, who was celebrating a birthday was very impressed. I certainly would return.
My grandson who likes tea and goodies might come with me another time.
Both the food and presentation were wonderful. The Victorian Tea Room combines the intimate service of a family-run restaurant with the ambiance of a formal tea. My friend and I have been meeting at the same tea room for years. Now, we'll be returning to the Victorian Tea Room.
took my mom there for her birthday for high tea
we've had high tea in Harrods and several London hotels this was definitely on par. Exceeded my expectations!
Went here for afternoon tea. The food was awesome, their scones are to die for and their little desserts are also super tasty. It's a small, cute place, perfect for small groups or duos. Great service, really nice people working there. Would definitely recommend! I can't believe I didn't find this place earlier.
We are always in search of a traditional English tea room. After reading previous reviews we wanted to try it out.
The tea room is clean, however the refrigerated display was out of place. It did not add to the ambiance of a Victorian tea room.
We ordered tea and scones. Unfortunately, the scones were underbaked - it was doughy in the middle. We mentioned this fact to the server who apologized.... This tea room did not meet our expectation regarding the scones. To be fair, we did not try any other item off the menu.
This is a small and cozy place and probably one of the only places to go for afternoon tea in the area. The restaurant is not too hard to spot but the parking area behind the building is very easy to miss. From Yonge, you need to turn into this little unmarked alleyway beside the restaurant to get to the parking. I missed it twice. We went for afternoon tea and the food was really good. Butter scones were amazing! The tea could have been better as I didn't feel like the flavours were strong enough despite ample steeping time. The pot is probably too large with too few tea leaves. Otherwise, the experience was a positive one.
New find for me. Loved everything about the restaurant. Will visit again next year.
Lovely traditional Victorian afternoon tea. The scones are excellent.
Had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Pomegranate Lavender tea was delicious and perfect on a Sunday afternoon. I cannot believe I ate 2 scones, was delicious!
This is a gem hidden in a Thornhill. My mother saw the article in the Toronto Star and a few weeks later I made a reservation for the two of us. We had to wait a week to get a reservation. The restaurant holds only 27 customers. The tables are for 2 or 4 only but they can take up to 12 in a group. Once the tea arrived and then the food, you forget about the decor which needs some tweaking. The food is fantastic. Tasha, who is Travis' sister is the chef. The scones are to die for. All the food is amazing. The tea arrives in a large pot with a strainer on the side. Travis reminded us to save room for the sorbet at the end of the meal. We ended up taking the cakes home. They are prepared with take out boxes. We are going back!!!
I have now celebrated two events at The Victorian Tea Room and on both occasions the food and the vibe were outstanding. There is attention to detail in the decor and the service. Our large bridal tea group enjoyed the banquet room decorated to perfection for our group of over 30 people. There was great attention given to quality and quantity of the food provided for the high tea. For our smaller group, which was seated in the main dining space, everything was in readiness upon arrival, even fresh flowers on the table and a clear space provided for a wheelchair, as requested. We all enjoyed house made scones, delicate and delicious tea sandwiches and beautifully presented pastries on a traditional tiered platter. Over 50 teas topped the day
Victorian tea house is a small intimate venue. It is a lovely place for tea-especially on the rainy dreary day we went-hot tea, warm sconces and lovely sandwiches.
although parking was a little hard to find... turns out it is squeezed right next to the store!! i had a small bridal party there and all the girls enjoyed it! from the food to the service. Its an adorable experience to go with your girlfriends. :)
the scones were sooo filling and they also service salad and sandwhich. altought the food prices were relativly high its still a nice atmosphere.
the girls and I went for afternoon tea and got the high tea. afternoon tea $25 and high tea $35. it was soo much fun! the service was outstanding.. the gentleman was so kind and helpful.
i truly enjoyed it.. and the teaaa selection are yummy and there are sooo many! so go for atleast the tea selections! :)
I took my very pregnant neighbour to The Victorian Tea Room for a treat before baby #3 arrived.
The tea room lived up to expectations on many levels. The High Tea is a lot to eat and very sugary
for the most part but delicious. The scones were feather light but the Devon clotted cream tasted more like whipped cream.
The sandwiches were dainty but missing was the smoked salmon but we didn't mind as they were tasty. The tea selection
if extensive and fabulous.
I would definitely go again with girlfriends but perhaps not order the high tea. It was a lot of food but a real treat!
There is free parking behind the building, but accessing it is a challenge. If you come frm the north, you will have difficulty turning left. If you come from the south, good luck trying to turn left to get home. The driveway is for one car. If there is a car heading the other direction, pray that the other driver is as courteous as you are.
The back door is ugly. Unfortunately half of the guests will see it while your companion will be looking at the curtained window upfront. Besides, there were mops leaning against the back door. Not very appealing. I made suggestions to the owner. Hope he will heed it.
After the first time I visited The Victorian Tea Room I knew that I would like to return and I have. I hope to come again with different friends and enjoy a very pleasant afternoon with nice surroundings.
this was a very enjoyable way to celebrate a friend's birthday
would do this again sooner than later
The experience was good. However, there was no toilet paper or paper to dry hands in the washroom. And there was a hair in the salad.
This place was really quaint. Perfect for a birthday celebration with my mother. The scones were amazing and the sandwiches are delicious. We would definitely come back again and bring our friends. We were really impressed with the variety of flavours and the best part was the decor and the music! It's a nice relaxing place that takes you away from the busy city for a few hours.
Best tea room in the area by far. Outstanding selection of teas and scones that are to die for! Always friendly staff with an excellent knowledge of their teas.
The first impression was the welcoming atmosphere of the place added to the very warm greeting of the manager who introduced himself as Travis.
The manager confirmed that he will have gluten free scones fresh from the oven and gluten free pastry prepared. We waited for half an hour but it did not seem long since the mixed classical music playing soothed our hunger while we chatted, “studied” the menu, and the display of Victorian style nicknacks, an array of teas and other related merchandise.
The teas from a wide variety was excellent. The sandwiches tasted very fresh so did the melting-in-the-mouth warm gluten free scones. The Service provided was excellent and discretely attentive. Compliment and thanks for the presentation.
we arrived on time, and wait for 5 mins, no one came over to greet us. we left the restaurant.
What a lovely place tucked away in Thornhill! Wonderful selection of teas, delicious tea sandwiches and the scones are divine! We also enjoyed the light and refreshing spinach salad that was part of the High Tea. Service was friendly and very accommodating, had a lovely afternoon there. Highly recommend it.
air ventilation was poor
felt stuffy in the restaurant
I took my two girls(11 & 16) here for afternoon tea, something we like to do for special occasions. We've been to other tea rooms in the GTA. I would say that this one stands our for a few reasons. The best scones I've ever had. They are made daily. They were so soft and flavourful. They came with a nice jam and real devon cream. The tea sandwiches were very good. Some tea spots try to go too fancy, but we had nice selection of egg, tuna, cucumber & smoked salmon. I heard the server mention to another table that they could substitute sandwiches based upon preferences.
That's another plus, the service. Near us, someone asked if a salad on the menu could be prepared for a vegan. They were pleased to offer substitutions that would work.
Victorian Tea - good variety of teas to choose from. Knowledgeable Staff. Good service.
Tiny cosy place, good scone & tea!
Took my friend to the Tea house for her birthday. It was so lovely. The food was great and plentiful and the gentleman who assisted us was so pleasant. We were not rushed and sat there for almost 3 hours with him coming over every now and then to see if we needed anything (no pressure). Would love to go with a group of my girlfriends and they even have a large room in the basement to accommodate groups.
Went to try this out to avoid a trip downtown in the Winter for High Tea. Some of our favorite's are the Windsor Arms, Ritz, King Edward and the Fairmont Royal York Hotels. Although this small neighbourhood tea room is not comparable to the likes of the big names downtown it was a very pleasant experience. Two things to note, the sandwiches could have been made on bread that was fresh, it seems that they may have been refridgerated so there was a slight dryness in texture. The other issue was the AWFUL lighting in the room. If there is one thing that I cannot stand it is the cold sterility of flourescent bulbs. Use soft hue romantic lighting and you have us coming back as custormers. The price is also a bit high for the location.
