What an experience. We take out of town and in town folks here for the live music and amazing food.
5 star fun and food!
Our food was perfectly prepared. The swordfish cut was 3" thick, the veal was pounded paper thin and the Branzino was tender. We are already planning our next visit.
Amazing experience , very romantic place for a cocktail hour too.
Definitely will come back
Delightful experience. Opera arias sung by talented wait staff throughout the meal made for a unique South Philadelphia event.
Great food and service. Love the opera.
The service was excellent, they were able to comment on various menu items and knew how to pair them well with the ample list of imported wines.
The food was excellent. I had the pesto ravioli which was prepared perfectly with just the right balance of pesto to oil.
The real treat was hearing the waiter sing periodically throughout the night. Finally,
when I asked the waitress about a particular piece of art she told me everything I wanted to know! This place certainly warrants a return.
Wonderful Birthday celebration each of the servers sings opera when the bell rings the food is delicious and desserts were amazing. Overall a delightful experience don’t miss the bar upstairs!
This restaurant was on our list as we visited Philadelphia. We appreciated the ambiance and great service, and of course the singing was beautiful and unique. We were also pleased with the food - great flavor and presentation. The price makes the experience a great value, and we would come back (on a weekend to experience the upstairs bar).
We all thought lighting was way too bright. Merry t did not feel intimate or romantic. But we enjoyed it very much. Thank you.
Good food and great service. An evening at the Victor Café never disappoints!
One of the most joyful experiences in my life!
Excellent food, service and singing! A memorable evening!
Truly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had!
Very nice experience. We enjoyed the music and atmosphere! Food was wonderful as well! Highly recommend the cafe.
Great time - servers were great, entertainment wonderful & food superb.
I'm not sure why it took me so long to go to the Victor Cafe, but I will be back as soon as possible! The service was excellent and our server, Sean, was knowledgeable, kind, AND an amazing opera singer. Don't miss the upstairs bar/lounge; the upstairs bartender made us some amazing drinks while we waited for our table. The only downside is that seating was quite tight on a busy Saturday evening and we had to squeeze into a corner table, but we felt comfortable once we were seated. Once the first performance started, I completely forgot I was even in a restaurant! The food was really delicious and they have a great selection of wine and spirits. My husband and I would not consider ourselves opera fans, but the sheer talent of the singers is amazing.
5:45pm reservation after Berthe Morisot exhibition at the Barnes Foundation. Everything from food to music to service was exemplary. Couldn’t ask for a more perfect end to a wonderful day!
I'm probably the only person who ever booked dinner at the Victor Cafe with no knowledge of the singing! What a wonderful surprise to discover my waiter would soon serenade us with an aria. My family and I loved the atmosphere, history, character, and entertainment in this wonderful place. And the food's good, too!
The place was perfect!! Opera singers were incredible! Outstanding food and service
We enjoy ringing in the New Year with a phenomenal evening of food, drink and live music. I loved the Dido and Aenaes pasta with shrimp and scallops, and my partner sank his teeth into a delicious steak. We also had a great lobster bisque starter, plus calamari and clams casino. The entire staff sang beautifully moving arias all night, which was topped with a group song at midnight. So festive!
The Victor cafe EXCEEDED ALL of my expectations!!!!!! From the service, to the food, to the booking process, ambience, everything was beyond perfection!! THE BEST restaurant experience of my life!! The servers sing arias and are so extremely talented, the food quality was exceptional and they even sang a special happy birthday opera for my partner!!! Amazing amazing amazing!! You MUST experience it for yourselves!
The Victor Café never disappoints. A real gem in South Philly, which was good even before the Rocky movies. Dinner at Victor is a New Year's Eve tradition. Great food, ambiance and of course, a wonderfully talented waitstaff.
This is a wonderful, unique dining experience. I highly recommend it.
A simply great Philadelphia institution. A soulful Italian experience in every way - food decor service music.
I have been a customer of victors for many years. this was the worst experience in all my years at victors.
A human hair was found in my soup, two f the people in my party had dirty utensils, when brought to the servers attention she reported it to management, they said my meal would be halve price (it was not) full price was on the bill.
we were a party of four, all of us had been patrons for a long time, they also were dissatisfied with the service.
none of us are planning on retuning anytime soon.
sorry victors was always on top of list
New years eve
Not from Philadelphia, I was looking for an eleventh-hour romantic spot with live music on NYE; Victor Cafe serve all of those purposes. The food was excellent, the atmosphere cozy, and service on point.
Wonderful food, atmosphere, singing. Made for a very special night to celebrate the holidays. Service was a little slow on simple things like water, bread, busing dirt tables, but was otherwise friendly and attentive. Bathroom a bit messy. Still, well worth the trip and cost for a memorable evening.
Loved the food and atmosphere. Very pleasant and attentive service. Upstairs lounge is definitely a place that should be checked out in advance of your dinner. Excellent value
The Victor Cafe is a very special place.
There is something incredibly wonderful about having servers perform. It is clear that the servers are passionate about their singing -- both from the way they perform and the way they select and explain their songs. It breaks the barrier between customers and servers in a beautiful way. When one of the soloists came over to pour water for us, I felt like I was seeing two sides of this person. It is particularly lovely that opera is generally considered a snobby activity while serving is a generally considered a humble activity.
In between songs, there was plenty of time for my daughter and I to have quiet conversation. In fact, I loved the rhythm of it -- 20 minutes of conversation with a short 3 minute performance. We were able to maintain our train of thought in the conversation while also enjoying the performances.
This is a very beautifully human place!
Spectacular! One of America’s BEST hidden gems! The Victor Cafe!
This was a great experience. Professional opera singers as wait staff really creates a spectacular atmosphere. The foot was excellent.
In my opinion, the portions are a little small for the price. Other than that everything was Wonderful!
A delightful experience. The singing servers are not a gimmick. They are serious opera singers and classic musical theater performers. Our server, Steve, was very professional and also charming. And the food was delicious. The evening’s Special of lamb bolognese over tortellini was spicy and tasty. The ravioli was perfect. Clams linguini, masterful. Desserts were superb as well especially orally the panacotta. Mmmmmm. Highly recommend Victor Cafe for a thoroughly enjoyable meal and a fun evening!
One of my favorite restaurants. The service is superior considering all of the moving parts and limited space to move. All of the positive elements are here, extensive menu, dinner specials, drinks, good food, service and free live music. You can hear Opera in the main dining area and Jazz at the upstairs bar. Only drawback is parking and the crowded doorway nevertheless Victor Cafe has all you need for a good time!
Great food and fun. One caveat. The bathrooms are on the 2nd floor. Up the steepest, tallest, narrowest staircase ever. At the top you turn and then go up a few more. If you’re older and not sure-footed, DO NOT GO UPSTAIRS. My brother fell down the top set and fell into glass doors. Cut open his hand. Got home to find he ripped open his arm and leg. The restaurant was sweet. Brought him bandaids. Got home to a VM where they deleted our desserts from the bill. They never knew about all the additional injuries. But we’d go again and not use their bathrooms.
My husband and I have spent our last two anniversaries at Victors. We love the singing, and the food. It is always a great time.
We had such a FABULOUS time..from the ambience since we are Rocky die hards, the food was really good and the entertainment. It was the PERFECT place to spend an evening with our 3 girls on Christmas break. I highly recommend it.
The Victor Cafe is a real Philadelphia gem. Not only is the food excellent, you also get to enjoy the rare talents of up-and-coming young opera stars! This unique local venue with its long history tied to the RCA/Victor record factory has been a favorite of mine for years, I have brought many out-of-town friends here and they always love it. And for long-time Philly residents, this is a terrific place for food and entertainment in classic Philly fashion. A reminder: photography/videography is not permitted during the singing. But enjoy everything about the Victor Cafe!
