We have been here a few times. Each time is incredible. Our table request was given and perfect. Best lamb chops I've ever had. And of course, the singing was beyond. We are downtown residents and go to a lot of restaurants in Philadelphia. This may be my favorite.
Best place. They take care of details and the food is great, as well as the music.
I am somewhat stingy in my reviews, which I didn't award five stars. I would say it's a 4.5. The food is good, but not other-worldly. I love Victor, and the singing staff are delightful. It is an historic landmark in Philly, and "a must" for everyone who likes Italian food and Opera. We found on-street parking easily, but I understand that can be a problem sometimes.
We had a family Easter meal there, repeating our excellent experience from last year. We shared appetizers: Broccoli Rabe, Asparagus, and Prosciutto/Pear/Arugula salad. I had the Branzino, my husband had a Pork Chop, and my son had the Frutte di Mare pasta. My fish was very good. My husband was a little less enthusiastic, but satisfied, with the chop. My son was disappointed that his pasta only had one scallop, but found it tasty, nevertheless. We loved our sides, and enjoyed our desserts (warm chocolate cake for my husband, and a limoncello-soaked cake filled with frozen chocolate mousse for me.
I do not recommend Victor to people who don't like Opera, though, because respectful attention is required for the musical interludes (every 20 minutes).
I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant. There is nowhere else like it in the city! Food is delicious, the service is great, and the performances are fantastic.
An absolutely wonderful restaurant. Its long time history of opera
and the magnificently talented wait staff along with great food made this a memorable evening. One that we will certainly do
We had a wonderful experience! The food was very delicious and unique. Our server was attentive, friendly and an excellent performer. We enjoyed an after dinner drink in the lounge, highly recommend visiting the lounge.
Birthday dinner and enjoyed it very much!
Interested place for the opera singers, yet food is just fine:)
It was my wife’s birthday and from beginning to end was excellent service. From check in , even as simple as being attentive to the water all was done professionally. And the singing just amazing. Food was amazing we both picked La Tosca, Thank you
What a unique experience! Great food and wonderful entertainment by very talented singers!
It was great!
The voices of the wait staff just blew us away. Restaurant should be on the historic register site. Food was very enjoyable as well.
Excellent menu and staff. I will continue to frequent the restaurant.
This is the fifth time I have been there. There is no.better experience than a visit to the Victor Cafe. The singing is wonderful.
Can't recommend enough! Love the atmosphere, all the food is delicious, even their complimentary bread and pesto dip is to die for! Their upstairs lounge area is very relaxing. All the singers are amazing. Remember to tip generously for them, they don't even charge for it! Great place all-around.
Our waitress was wonderful !!!! We had a party of 6 with 4 newbys to Victors and they loved it. Already made our next reservation
Excellent atmosphere with the service in exceptional quality. Food was outstanding. Impressive singing from the staff. I will visit it again for sure.
This place is terrific. The food, the singing, it's the best.
Delicious food, exceptional service, unbelievably talented opera singers, Incredible ambience —truly unforgettable experience
Truly memorable experience. Unique dining atmosphere with classical music performed live by the staff and classic Italian fare. Calamari was seasoned perfectly, house marinade was good, pasta was yum (and not super crazy big portions yet not obnoxiously small portions either). Chocolate lava, I think it was called warm chocolate cake, was perfect! The filling was not over-sweet but smooth and delicious. Makes all the other lava cakes or molten cakes out there just seem wrong.
Definitely old school but fun. Food was very good, ambiance great and the music, excellent!
Great food and singing wait staff were great
Athmosphere was wonderful, the Opera singers were wonderful, food was decent, but definitely overpriced for the quality.
Just a wonderful, unique atmosphere. Great food, great service, great value. Easy to talk with the person at the end of a table for 8.
Well worth doing again and again.
We had a recent birthday dinner with friends. We all enjoyed our menu choices which are classic Italian. The entertainment is wonderful. Even if you do not care for opera you cannot help but enjoying when your waitress bursts into song. Go early and enjoy the eclectic lounge upstairs.
Absolutely a lovely place to dine. The food is delicious and has improved since last time I was there years ago.And the music, what can I say. It was impressive and beautiful .
Most importantly, the staff was more than accommodating. There was an issue on South Broad Street and we called them. The were able to hold our table. It was a great plus. Thank you, Victor’ s Cafe.
Outstanding! Although I have been to The Victor Cafe many times, I still like it more with each visit. The meal was excellent as usual, but the voices are exceptional. It never fails to astonish me how these incredible the talent level is on every visit. This remains my favorite restaurant not only in Philadelphia, but anywhere. It is truly a treat to dine here. The food prices are reasonable for the quality, however just a couple of drinks will double your bill thanks to the Philadelphia drink tax. Regardless, a meal at Victor's is always a pleasure.
A great experience you must enjoy at least once! The opera singing wait staff are phenomenal and top notch. The atmosphere and décor are like the old days, with photographs & pictures depicting stars of the past and present. A huge "Rocky" dedication on the walls. The food, service and drinks were perfect.
This was my late husbands favorite restaurant since he was a child growing up in the 50's. Every time I come back here it gives me good memories of our first date together and it reminds me of him as well. He loved opera, good wine, and the veal saltimbocca was his favorite!
Wonderful dining experience; highly recommend; will return
We enjoyed hosting and toasting our future daughter in law to celebrate her engagement to our son. She really enjoyed the wine, food and our server’s two arias, which were outstanding.
We will be returning soon again.
Amazing place, food and entertainment. It’s an incredible dining experience.
Fabulous evening! I planned a business dinner here and did not tell my colleagues about the opera singing. It was a pleasant surprise, they all loved it! The singers were excellent, very talented, and the food was fantastic. I had the Veal Saltimbocca which was simply delicious; it melts in your mouth! Fun overall evening beginning with a refreshing Aperol Spritz and ending with my personal favorite dessert, the light and fluffy Tiramisu.
We were looking for “Old School” Italian, ad we got SOOOO much more! The food was delicious with plenty of traditional choices with just enough creative spin. We had well made cocktails in the Rocky corner of the bar upstairs, under the gaze of the RCA Victor dog and gramophone (the Cafe’s name began to make sense!). But, the biggest delight was to come with the charming, efficient, and talented wait staff. The operatic interludes throughout the meal were wonderful - such lovely, and varied voices - and, our guests (who had never been to an opera) were completely won over! You should give yourself a treat and have this unique experience...
Wonderful meal, service and voices! The baked clams casino were some of the best we’ve had and the Caesar salad was excellent. Our entrees were very good as well, but the service and atmosphere made it memorable.
Food was wonderful and opera singing was absolutely fabulous. Don't miss this place if you have the opportunity. You won't regret it!
I requested a happy birthday in my special requests. Had numerous birthdays Saturday night all but my husbands. It was his 65th and I thought it would be great. Our waitress was my interested in her turn to perform she was actually rude to the audience and stood there until everyone had her attention. Not once but started several times then stopped because people were not paying attention so having said that we waited 20 minutes for our check. I was hoping she just got held up in her performance but never acknowledged a special birthday request even though I was waiting for it to happened. Very disappointed
Such a great experience! Had a wonderful dinner with my adult children and sister before a concert in the city. Food was delicious and the singing was amazing. We will definitely be back.
I travel weekly for my employment therefore I probably eat out more than the average person does. My experience at The Victor Cafe was outstanding. The history of the cafe, the food and the service was second to none. The fact that this was the setting of Adrian's Restaurant in the Rocky Franchise movies Balboa, Creed I and Creed II just added to the experience.
I highly recommend The Victor Cafe. I clearly will be visiting it again on my next trip to Philadelphia.
If you dont go to Victor Cafe you are absolutely crazy!!! this is the spot. Food is spot on, energy is spot on, you have to go for your Birthday. you must must go!!
