Just wonderful as always. A Philadelphia gem. Sitting there and listening to the wait staff sing opera is one of the best things about Philadelphia.
My boyfriend and I had a great experience here. The food and service was excellent. We will definitely be returning.
Fantastic, memorable night. The opera entertainment was terrific -- and so original. Love this Philly gem!
Wonderful restaurant. Food is excellent. The singing wait staff add to the warm and friendly atmosphere.
A wonderful experience. We arrived 90 min early in hopes to get seated early. The staff was amazing. The operatic waitstaff was unbelievable. The history of the cafe, the wall decor and ambiance cannot be beat! Highly recommend!
It was amazing!
I'm a travel nurse, a co-worker told me about this restaurant. My daughter has been living here for two years and never heard of it. We went on a mother daughter date and enjoyed the singing every 20 minutes, it left us in euphoria. The food was so good, we had no leftovers.
This was a wonderful surprise! We were gong out for Italian food and ended up with great food, great service and GREAT entertainment! Definitely recommend for couples and families!
Fantastic dining while I was on a business trip and my daughter was visiting. Food was excellent and the opera amazing. Such an enjoyable evening!
It's a great place!! Everything about Victor's is awesome.
Great food, wonderful singing, charming atmosphere
So much fun. A great place for birthdays. You'll see!
Army Navy game and birthday
This was my first time going to Victor Cafe and I heard nothing but good things about it beforehand. With that, I decided to take my best friend there to celebrate her birthday.
I will start with the positives first. The Salmon with crab was very delicious and reasonably priced. The place had a nice “homey” feel and reminded me of my grandmothers’ house: filled with delicious smells and laughter. One of the waiters was very attentive and made sure our glasses were always filled with water. It brightened my day when I realized it was the same restaurant used in the Rocky films. I’m a huge Rocky fan.
Anyways, now for the negatives. The place wasn’t crowded so I wasn’t sure why we were placed at the back of the restaurant, tucked away in a corner next the kitchen. We couldn’t really see the singers, only heard them but I won’t focus too much on that. We still enjoyed the looking at the pictures of celebrities on the wall.
Here’s what really bothered me. When I initially made the reservation, I included notes stating this dinner is for my friends’ birthday. I also confirmed the reservation and restated that it was a celebratory dinner via phone. I told our waitress about my friends’ birthday again to make sure the opera singers came by the table before we left. She nodded and mouthed “Yes, I know.” Smiled and walked away. With 3 reminders, I didn’t understand why no one came by the table to sing by the time I was given the bill. In the two hours we were there, I heard at least 4 other birthday songs and one anniversary song.
She came by the table. “Thank you for coming, have a great night.” I called her over to reminder her YET AGAIN to ask for a birthday song. She finally came with the staff to sing. It brought a smile to my friends’ face, which was my goal: to make her last days happy. I know everyone forgets once in a while but try to remember the guests’ request please. Despite what happened, I will be coming back to try the pasta.
The Victor Cafe was amazing. The opera singing was delightful, the wait staff were knowledgeable about the interesting history of the restaurant, and the food was outstanding, and a good value, too. Don't judge a book by it's cover -- if we had merely passed it on the street, we probably wouldn't go inside because it doesn't look like anything special. But inside is an amazing gem - such a treat!
Wow. Army Navy weekend we stumble into an open table res here and the Cabbie tells us one of the Rocky movies was filmed here. Then we learn the history and the opera singing by the waitstaff was terrific. Dinner (which was great) and a show. Go early and spend some time in the bar. Thank me later
The entire dining experience is one you’ll enjoy from the moment you enter the restaurant. The staff is warm and inviting, the food is very well worth it, and lastly the entertainment! I can’t say enough of how much I enjoyed myself at Victor Cafe. I look forward to dining again soon here.
It’s hard to imagine having a meal at the Victor Cafe and not thoroughly enjoying it. The food is very good but the singing voices of the wait staff are exceptional. This has been my favorite restaurant for many years and I’ve never been disappointed.
On vacation from Orlando... so we see a lot of shows and tourist traps. This place was AMAZING, we had awesome food and a great time
Fabulous experience as always. The food was delicious, service was friendly and professional, and of course the singing was beautiful.
First timer who plans to make additional visits to experience a magical dinner.
Our son’s graduation trip.
It was a wonderful experience! Food was delicious and the service was great!
Our experience was great! We will definitely be back again!
Delicious food, outstanding service, wonderful ambiance and OH the operatic presentations were extraordinary!
Amazing in every way. From food (desserts were incredible) service and song everything was excellent and fun.
A great dining experience!!
Simply amazing and the best. Service was amazing. Opera was beautiful
The wait staff is awesome and breaks out into song every 15 minutes or so. Great food with wonderful entertainment. The upstairs bar is a place to hang with candlelight and intimate sitting arrangements.
My wife and I absolutely love The Victor Cafe - best restaurant in all of Philly! It's an absolutely beautiful restaurant, charming, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. The live opera singing is sensational - such talent among the waiters/waitresses! The food is top-notch - our favorite thing on the menu is the Burrata, can't beat it. And it's certainly a must-visit for any Rocky fan (serving as "Adrian's" in 3 Rocky movies). Must visit!
Great Italian food served by professional opera singers. Every 15-20 minutes one of the staff will ring a bell asking for everyone's attention, explain the aria he/she is about to sing, provide a brief overview of the opera it's from then amaze diners with an incredible performance. The food was very good from the calamari appetizer to the Spaghetti Rusticana to the fresh salmon. Definitely worth a visit.
One to the best experiences ever in Philadelphia, from the reservation , attention , cordiality, the service is amazing our waitress was fantastic and also super talented when she perform one opera piece.. the food and drinks perfect .. and my 3 year starts old daughter just love all the concept.
I don’t have the right words or the precise words to explain the fantastic experience in Victors cafe.
Plus you need to admire each of the photo collection there and of course the rocky frame .
Thank you to all who makes posile this jewel of the restaurants in Philadelphia.
The wait staff are all professional opera singers, quite an amazing experience. Food is decent and service is okay, don’t let them take your plate away before you’re finished. Very fun - dinner and a show.
MY FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT IN PHILLY!! The food and people are amazing & the opera singing takes it to a whole new level. So awesome and I can’t wait to come back!
Loved the ambiance and the opera singers.
Food was delishious as well.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Loved the staff! We came from Oklahoma and would definitely be back.
My cannelloni came out completely and the waitress actually seemed annoyed at me when I simply asked her to warm it up. I was ignored several times. Also, we had a birthday at the table and requested that the singer sing this song from the moment we sat down, and they never did. After the dessert was served, I asked again why the song was never sang to my brother as they do for all birthday guests. The waiter just told me that I need to be patient with a belittling tone. Meanwhile we were the last ones in the dining room and had already paid the check. The waiters are very arrogant and really need to understand that customers are not coming just to hear them sing. No matter their singing skill, we want a pleasant and warm experience. I won't go back bc this was terribly lacking, and the waiters like Iris for example had very arrogant and poor service.
After writing this review, the manger Robin called me to inquire about this experience. She just defended her waiters assuring me that they, “even case down guests bc they care to sing happy birthday.” She also said that she would rewind the tape and see why it could be that my cannelloni was cold because it never is. Perhaps it would have been wise for her to do this before calling me and then ending the conversation by cutting me off when I was speaking and saying well thanks for your feedback and goodbye.
I don’t know how old this Robin is, but she sounded young and did not have the maturity to listen even when calling to inquire and correct a negative experience. The customer service at The Victor Cafe is poor and usually things go bad from the top.
I hope that The Victor Cafe can reorganize and make the necessary changes to save this restaurant because though it’s employees are very unprofessional, it’s concept is very special. Good luck!
Last night we went out to a really amazing 100 year old Italian restaurant in South Philly! On paper (google search), it looked perfect - but then once we got there, it was even more perfect! This restaurant is the place they used in Rocky Balboa, Creed and Creed II to become Adrian’s. All of it’s staff are also classically trained musicians/opera singers. The food, wow, was delicious. Best of all, I got to experience this amazing place with loved ones. Side note: I love my neighborhood, this place is 3 blocks away from my house!
This is a great place. It's a destination experience. If you like opera it is a must.
What a find! Were in Philadelphia for 2 nights for a wedding and our only night out was at the Victor Cafe. The singers were so talented, great service, the bar was so cute but it consisted of pasta in a red sauce with sweet sausage & meatball. Mine was okay. It was linguine in a while clam sauce. We will definitely go back and I’d try something different next time we’re in Philadelphia. Totally recommend it.
