I would definitely recommend the outdoor dining - it was safe and lovely with excellent food
Food was mediocre.
Food was subpar, service was not good. Definitely would not return and do not recommend. There are so many other options in this area that I’m sure could offer a much better dining experience.
There for a birthday brunch. Mimosa flight was fun! Food was good, typical brunch menu.
Late dinner. We had reservations for dinner. We’re told after we were seated that kitchen may be closed. We ordered our drinks (water) and entrees (fish tacos x2) immediately without looking at the menu. And were never told of the kitchen could accommodate us. Water/ fish tacos/ check all came at the same time. It was very evident that they were closing up for the night. They were sweeping and stacking chairs before we had our food. I get that the staff wants to get out of there. But we had reservations. We didn’t order beverages besides water and no appetizers m, soup or salads. We were quick. But it was evident that they didn’t have any regard for our experience. Don’t allow 9:30 pm reservations unless you want to provide the customer with an enjoyable experience.
Sunday early evening. First, pre-covid we were pretty regular customers and highly recommended the Veranda. We understand things change. The service was fine, especially the trainee. We made reservations requesting on the porch not sidewalk no problem there also, stating it was a birthday celebration (the host mentioned it from our comments) no mention to that table side, no little piece of cake or ice cream offered. We checked the menu online prior and hoped it was only a partial menu, it was not. We were disappointed in the choices or lack of. My husband said burger was good even though the med rare was definitely cooked to well. Tough to do on such thin patties. My calamari was delicious light crust and tasty and a perfect size for one person’s dinner with side of fries, also very good, or a salad. Ambiance is always great and especially with the “ circus” going on outside. Great views of course.
Valet parking was a shambles - one poor guy trying to do it all. Good to see so many people out and about but overall too crowded and too noisy - we were seated in a wind tunnel and moved inside - service was slow. Place is beautiful, food was good, but the effort to park and just be there was not worth the return. Sorry - we were very excited to go there and then quite disappointed. Perhaps High Tea at 3PM would be more relaxing.
Service was not good. Our waitress was great but you can tell she got bombarded with tables. Not once did we get a refill on drinks. The workers were rude other then our nice waitress and hostess everyone else sucked
Our experience was great! We had an 11:15 a.m. reservation for brunch and were seated before. Be aware that if you don't have a reservation on the weekends, you'll be waiting at least 30 minutes (from what I heard the host tell customers without one). The staff was wonderful and very clearly working as fast as they could to promptly serve their customers. You couldn't beat the view, right across the street from Santa Monica Beach. Took a while to get the check at the end due to how busy they were but that's understandable. We'd definitely return if we're in the area.
The food and service was amazing. The value for the food is great as well.
Great food with a great view! Service was wonderful but they were extremely busy so it would take a while to get our waiters attention.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. From the time we arrived until the time we left, the service was impeccable. We tried a variety of items for brunch, including the French toast, chicken and waffles and the breakfast burrito. All were excellent. We will certainly be back another time for dinner.
Excellent location and good service.
Excellent food, heated patio on a chilly morning- great coffee too! A wonderful experience for a so traveler!
Far overpriced cafeteria food at its best.
Server was incredible!
Excellent and friendly
Have loved this place for some time. It’s gotten better.
The Veranda is an adorable spot right on Ocean Ave. in Samta Monica. We had a stunning view of the ocean at sunset from our table. The host was kind, but very busy. Our server took some time to take our drink, appetizer and food order at separate times. He was also not very informative on the menu.
I believe the service issues are a management issue and not at all the fault of the host and server, but they lacked polish. They were clearly overwhelmed and did not how to handle the workload with grace and poise.
The food was very good. The cuisine was more elevated than expected. The drinks were phenomenal, a perfect balance of flavor without diluting the liquor. The mai tai was by far the best I’ve ever had.
We will return.
The waitress, Lorena, was a sweetheart. Very kind and accommodating. We were there for sunset...so ambiance perfect. and food was delish. We had the forked smashed guac. Caesar and Hamachi. YUM!
We were there to celebrate a birthday. Melinda our server was great, as was the rest of the staff. Drinks were amazing, food delicious and service on point.
Always good food and the best atmosphere with an ocean view.
The food and service are excellent. We have dinner there either on the veranda or inside each time we visit Santa Monica.
The waitstaff was exceptional. Incredibly friendly and covid-careful (masks, gloves, distance).
One of the best brunches I’ve had in LA!
I took my friend for her birthday; we were seated on the outdoor but glassed in patio.
IT WAS LOVELY!
The menu items were great; the service was wonderful. It was SO FANTASTIC to be out and 'somewhere.'
My friend loved her birthday and I couldn't recommend a more beautiful day to anyone.
Great brunch spot! Staff was super friendly and the mimosa flight is a must. Accomodating with dietary restrictions.
Really great place to sit outside see the ocean fantastic drinks and cocktails
Delightful service by Mehra, plus exquisitely prepared food made for a wonderful dinner experience at The Veranda. Will definitely come back!
Sunday, April 4th was a warm & sunny day to celebrate Easter brunch at the Veranda Restaurant. We were seated on the upper level of the Veranda to experience the beautiful ocean view while dining was amazing. The attentive service, food and atmosphere were outstanding.
To top off the day, we decided to have cocktails at their indoor bar! It was an amazing way to highlight the Holiday.
I highly recommend this place.
Wonder staff and Beautiful property
Was really excited for this place based on atmosphere and reviews. Went for breakfast at 8:30 and was not busy at all, but food took over 30 min to get to us and when it did it was cold. Seems like it was sitting for a while. Wait staff was friendly, but also not super attentive.
Pretty setting but very limited menu and no accommodations of allergies are honored. Guacamole was very strange and bland. Cocktail and wine list also very limited and uninspired. Not my fave.
Taking a friend out for birthday dinner here because they had a fabulous chicken dish with truffles that I had ordered about 3 weeks prior. When we received the dish, I note that it has changed, and the mushrooms (truffles) are not the same. No aroma, no moist texture. I told the waitress, and she got the manager. He proceeded to educate me about truffles and how these were actual truffles. I said no, and he continued to argue with me. Then when he suggested we order something else, he brought only 1 menu to look at. I asked him for 2, please, as there are 2 people here, and he would not. We left the restaurant after paying for our drinks.
There only 2 servers on the floor on a day that was bright, shiny, and beautiful. The patio was full and the servers although very nice were truly overwhelmed. My Eggs Benedict (which is why I came here) arrived cold and was smothered with lemon juice, it was so lemony it destroyed the hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were hot and tasty!
My friend had the Steak and Eggs and said everything was just as she ordered. Perfect! So overall despite my cold benedict, I will return but I will be very specific about my order this time.
Lovely patio dining with a view, yummy breakfast burrito and generously tall mimosa with just a splash of OJ. A bit of a wait for food on a warm, busy Saturday, but worth it!
One minor thing, after food was served no one came over a little later to check we had everything etc. I needed condiments.
We were guests at the hotel which had us very excited to try this restaurant attached to it. First of- we checked in about an hour early to see if we could be seat on the top to have an ocean view, I confirmed my time with the hostess and was told I would definitely be saved a spot in the place we requested. When we came at the time at our reservations- we were five minutes early, our table was given away. We also were told to wait about 20-30 minutes until one would open up. Not only did we have to wait, we were sat by a very loud group of children. Out of their control- yet we expressed it was a special night and we were tired from our four hour drive in.
The service was meh. The waiter took a while to get out our drinks- and the water is very chalky, and very small. I ordered a tea, and had to get it to go as they never sent it out during my whole time eating dinner. The food was okay- and at least warm. The place is in a very pretty place and needs the service to match it. They need more organization. Just because the place is right on the beach, doesn’t mean we should lose the customer service.
Melinda and Lorena are attentive and caring servers. Pleasure to have them assisting us. Charcuterie board was goos as always but seemed smaller today. Fish tacos were great but the spaghetti not so much. Pasta was very over cooked and gummy. Will still go back for the view me amazing servers.
