The Vanitea Room a Tea Salon and Eatery
The Vanitea Room a Tea Salon and Eatery is located in Ottawa Ontario. Come spoil yourself in our all day brunch or our ever so popular bottomless mimosas!
At Vanitea, we provide a timeless tradition done beautifully.
For Gluten-free and vegan tea sets, we do require an order and payment in advance. Orders and payment may be made over the phone, or through our website, at http://www.thevanitearoom.com/reserve1/
Friends and I attended drag show brunch. We were promptly seated and loved the ambiance. We ordered bottomless mimosas which were tasty and kept coming. We were all sold on the brisket eggs benny and unfortunately none of our dishes turned out - eggs were rock hard and potatoes cold. Not great for $18 a plate. The servers were extremely apologetic and we all got the $5 cover taken off. Hopefully that $5 x 5 wasn’t going toward the performers because they were absolutely fabulous. We loved both entertainers and they were the reason we had such a great experience. Next time we may just stick to tea and sandwiches.
The only really good thing was the bottomless mimosas, even at that they definitely had way more juice than prosecco so you weren't really getting your moneys worth. The food was ok, our breakfast potatoes were still hard. The only good thing we had was the brisker benny. Except we asked for it cooked medium and they have it to us cooked easy. We also waited 40 minutes for food. The music was way too loud, and they were playing club music on a Sunday morning. I was really disappointed by our experience, considering we heard so much about it. I definitely will not return and I wish I didn't waste so much money there.
The server was very kind, PATIENT and professional. She answered my MANY questions with a smile on her face.
It’s a great place to meet with friends and have great conversations as you don’t have to shout to hear each other.
The food was amazing and scones were so delicious.
Loved it! The food was delicious (I got the breakfast sampler), the mimosas were flowing, and the overall atmosphere couldn't be beat. Will definitely be returning for afternoon tea!
Went on a Friday morning and the place was quite empty. The chef was nice enough to accommodate us for afternoon tea at that time even though they usually only serve it after 12. We enjoyed the savory and scone tiers but thought the desserts were hit and miss. We had a lovely seating by the window but the sun shone on my face and would have preferred blinds to block it out.
I came to Vanitea Room for high tea with some friends. We waited 20 minutes to be seated even with a reservation, as there was a large private event taking place. we had never done afternoon tea before and the server handed us our menus and left without explaining how it worked. Other than that, the food was pretty good, some of the baked goods were delicious while others were mediocre. There was a large selection of teas and all the ones I tried, I really liked, and the ambiance was really nice! For what it is, it’s expensive, but I understand that you’re also paying for the experience.
The food and service was great! I especially enjoyed the brunch bottomless mimosas. It’s cute little place
Wow! Will definitly recommand and go back!
You've got to try the Benny Tower! YUMMY!!
Terrible service We had a reservation for 3 but they could not seat us until 3:45 and we waited 25 minutes to get our first cup of tea. The food was terrible with little vegetables or fruit or protein.
It’s a bit cramped with no adequate waiting area, but food is amazing so we’re the staff, would definitely recommend
I brought my 88 year old stepmom and she loved it. Carlie is a gem of a host and made the experience very special. Would have liked maybe a few more savoury treats. Will go back .
Super cute spot! The decor was beautiful and menu was great with options for vegan and gluten free! Bottomless mimosas made it be perfect spot for brunch!
Great place best eggs ever. The presentation is nice. We arrived and the place was full so despite having a reservation we waited 30 minutes though the waitresses did all to accommodate us.
Ambiance was great and the food was delicious - tea was to die for. They seem to be short staffed so be prepared to wait to be seated and served. Very accommodating for allergies although they seemed to forget about one allergy and served a corn soup to our corn allergy person. Overall, only a bit less expensive than some of the fancier places in Ottawa for high tea.
Very nice place to have breakfast
Went with a girlfriend for their brunch - we both got the tea sampler, and it was delicious! Lots of food (come hungry or be prepared to take a doggy bag) or you could share. The french toast was unreal and the eggs benedict were perfect. Would definitely return!
We had an amazing experience during our meal at VaniTea. The server was friendly and funny, and took the time to ensure that one of our guests meals were strawberry free and gave delicious alternatives. With that being said, all the food was delicious and presented in a traditional way with a modern flavour and selection. The space itself was well decorated but not overwhelming. We will be returning to try the next season’s selection.
I love going to the Vanitea room because the food is always amazing. There are so many unique tastes in their dishes and the beverages are always yummy. The service is amazing. Although the space is smaller they worked with me to accommodate my reservation of 12. And while my big party was there the server (who I believe was the only one waiting on tables) was attentive and on top of things. Thanks Vanitea!
The staff at vanitea are wonderful, great service as always. Its one of our favorite tea place.
It was a fun one time experience. Food was over priced, drinks were over priced. Serving staff was unfriendly and very basic.
The food and tea selection was excellent! The portion sizes we're perfect and the wait staff was very kind and accommodating.
The food is excellent, music isn't too loud just a swell good place for brunch. I ordered the Tea sampler and I got A LOT of food for the amount I payed. Hella Delicious. I could have shared it with my teen sister. My mom had the Benny Brisket and my mother is a cook and is VERY picky and SHE had nothing bad to say. only compliments.
We wanted to go to Vanitea for the Vegan options on the menu.
The food was good, but not great. The place is nice, but the music was way too loud to enjoy ourselves.
Overall there was nothing wrong, the service was great, but for the price, I would have expected better food and a more relaxed atmosphere. The noise level made us feel rushed and uncomfortable.
We enjoyed our visit. The food choices were out of the ordinary, and a nice change from standard brunch items. The servers were pleasant and helpful, and overall it was a good choice for someone looking for a different type of Sunday brunch.
Great food and ambience.
It was a nice experience. The decoration is very special and unique, the food different and delicious, and the service and staff are excellant.
Food & service were terrific as usual!
Always great value for what you pay! Bottomless mimosas are a must as well!
Decent vegan brunch options, Benny had almost no Hollandaise sauce they charge 4$ for more (ridiculous), food was decent semi cold and expect a long wait. Overall the place is definitely worth checking out but the food is not worth the cost, and to charge per cup of coffee and not tell your table is silly ( a fellow server). If you are gonna charge such high prices the service should match that.
Thr brunch was presented with no fuss and the server checked with us later. The tea was selected from a tea chest. The room is attractively decorated. We have been to the Tearoom on several occasions and have enjoyed the ambience.
Wonderful place! Would absolutely go back!
Try the indulgent breakfast.
Nothing fancy. Extra long sausages that I didn’t like the taste of. Dry toast and carrots that seemed a touch rubbery.
Not worth the cost.
Accommodated our extra guest perfectly :) thank you
Probably wouldn't go back for a special event like the Kate Spade one, the flier specified that every person go their own pot of tea, their own plate of food, and their own Kate Spade gift. At the end of the experience, after the bill had been paid, they tried to give the gift only to my mother. If you are paying $65 per person, and the event says we should all get the gift, I don't think it's appropriate to try to withhold that from the other guests. We got the gifts, and they were quite lovely, but it felt a little uncomfortable to have to say something about the false advertising. If it had been advertised that only mothers got the present that would have been different.
I was slightly shocked that they would try to deceive the customers, but no fight was put up when I asked for clarification.
Lovely tea and delicious food otherwise. Like I said, I wouldn't come back for an event, but definitely on a regular day.
The music was too loud and unsuitable for a Mother’s Day breakfast. We arrived and were seated for a 10am reservation, by 11 we had to ask the server when our breakfast was coming. While everyone else had been served. The value of food was nothing to rave about. we were told by phone there were several gluten free options on the menu. Only to be offered gluten free toast. I won’t be returning.
Lovely service and beautiful aesthetic. The music at first was very "pump up", which didn't suit the vibe and made it feel less relaxing. This eventually changed, which was great. We preferred our first visit when it was acoustic covers of popular songs --- both relaxing and fun! The food was wonderful. My only complaint is I called ahead of time to see if they would have dairy free scones available, to which they said they would. On the day though, all four scone options had dairy. With a rise in these kinds of dietary issues, it would be nice to have at least one non-dairy alternative.
Overall, great service and I will most likely go again.
Loved the ambiance and decor! Also played great music
I liked the Vanitea room experience! The food was delicious, the servers were friendly, and the restaurant is lovely inside. The service was a bit slow, but if you are going for a classy brunch, the point isn't to rush through it anyway. I originally planned to get bottomless mimosa option, but after browsing some posts, I saw the mimosas had mixed reviews. We bought bottles instead, which were excellent value at $24, and tasted quite nice. Would recommend for a special occasion/celebration!
Unique experience with some fabulous food. Great for special occasions or brunch. If you need glasses to read, bring them as the menu is hard to read, due to the font and colour. Would definitely return.
Everything was wonderful however there was a Bridal Shower also taking place at the same time. As the restaurant itself is quite small the noise level was way too loud. We were given a discount to accommodate which was appreciated but recommendation for the restaurant to hold private parties without being open to the public.
