   Honestly not great. First time visiting, seated quickly and first drinks round were quick which were good. Table was booked for 4 people for 6, restaurant was busy but not rammed. All 4 of us ordered roasts, potatoes were poor and everything else was adequate but considering the cost and value of other pub roasts (e.g. The Eagle) it wasn't great. Staff member we are assuming is the manager (was wearing a different colour shirt) cleared all plates apart from one and didn't return to the table, waited approx. 15 mins before someone else cleared and they did not ask about desserts/drinks/the bill. A wait to order and receive desserts, then after plates were cleared a very long wait for someone to ask if we wanted the bill. Tried to flag down several staff who either avoided eye contact or were huddled around the bar talking and sipping drinks. We had to approach the bar in the end to ask for the bill, it was placed on the table and we then paid at the bar about 20 mins after as no one came back with a card machine (unsure if we were meant to pay at bar or not, no instruction given). The only staff member who smiled, was polite and gave good service had glasses & was blonde- she was lovely. All of us attending have restaurant/hospitality management experience and we know what it can be like when it's busy and a long day, especially on a bank holiday weekend, but honestly the whole experience was underwhelming and potentially could have been rectified by an attempt at customer service from the team.

   A really great local pub with simple but well cooked food and a welcoming atmosphere. They had gf bread buns which was great. Service was delightfully positive and helpful.

   We celebrated our 40th Ruby Wedding Anniversary and had a lovely Sunday Lunch with our family and friends. The food and service we received was first class. We were upstairs which was the perfect place to be. An additional table was set up for our cakes and presents by the staff. We will definitely be going back again Thanks to the Team there for looking after us so well.

   Absolutely delicious meal - perfectly cooked duck and a wonderful prawn starter. The matcha dessert was also perfection. And all gluten free for a coeliac like me. Friendly, efficient service . I’ll be back!

   I love using The Unthank and will continue to use it. On this occasion (and I’m sorry to write something negative) I didn’t think my fish&chips were good. They were ok. I felt they were overcooked (batter seemed hard like it had bn cooked for a while and same with (far too many) chips. It was all a good temperature. The taste was ok, but it wasn’t as good as I hv had there many times. It was a shame although overall, our table had a great time spending lunch there. The service was good and Summer has come on in leaps&bounds, really happy to see her still being there. Thank you.
