   We had an excellent night. The food was delicious and the cocktails even better. We were a group of 9 and the service was top notch

   I have eaten in the universal in the past and had a lovely meal, unfortunately this time was a different experience. The service was very poor consistently throughout the meal. It wasn't that busy so there was no apparent reason for this. Had to ask for cutlery, extra drink, the bill etc multiple times from different staff before we got them. No one came to us during the dinner to ask if we needed anything. I had to go to the bar to ask for an extra glass of wine with dinner and I had to walk back up to the bar to get it as the server just left it there and did not bring it to the table. That's only just a few examples of things that happened. Food wise: The starter was not cooked properly, was a wedge of luke warm red cabbage. Main course and dessert were fine. Maybe it was just an off night for them, but it did effect the meal experience throughout.

   Food was tasty but over priced for portion size. First time I’ve eaten sole on the bone the size of two fish fingers

   Easily my favourite restaurant in Galway. Plates of elegant, delicious food and quiet, unassuming, friendly staff make The Universal a joy to dine in. I recommend this place to everyone who asks and will continue to do so.

   Food good but portion sizes too small and tables way too close together. Wine prices extortionate

   Incredibly tasty food, very attentive staff, all in a lovely and calm setting. Cocktails were amazing and Cian was very helpful with his knowledge of each one! Would highly recommend for a date night or even just for a few drinks with friends.
