The Union Kitchen (Washington)
At the union Kitchen outdoor dining is a year-round event with ceiling fans and air coolers for hotter days and heat lamps for cooler nights. Just perfect for enjoying an wonderful meal outdoor.
The Union Kitchen offers ice cold draft beers and a huge selection of American and International wines. Imagine a place where while enjoying some Mimosas you can order eggs Benedict and watch your favorite sporting events; and all in company of friends and family.
I had the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. My daughter had the ribeye. Both were amazing and worth the price.
Wonderful experience for my birthday. Generous portions! Will be coming back! Kudos to the quick thinking server who saved my Grandpa from a spilled drink!
Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning about 1130.
To avoid: peach Bellinis are a hard pass. Although unlimited, could not even finish one.
Elvis waffle is incredibly sweet and should not be an entree.
The omelette is what you’d expect. The eggs should have more volume. For $16, I compare this to other similarly priced items and it’s ok.
The Bloody Mary is a hit.
All in all, what you’d expect for a $55 brunch. Not great, just meh.
This is our new "go to" stop for brunch. Food is fantastic and service is great!
We have always loved Union Kitchen and now I love this location! My chicken was just ok but my husband’s ribeye was really nice!
Excellent neighborhood restaurant! It is my to go place for good food and service!
Place was empty and the food was just ok.
The steak as imperfect but that can happen anywhere. It was such a nice place and the Server, Christine, was superb so I will return.
The food was wonderful. Each of our party tried something different and all were very happy. The presentation of the food was stunning and the flavors did not disappoint.
Really enjoyed the crab egg roll appetizer.
The level of the music was quite loud but a quick inquiry to our server and the level was reduced. Very pleased with his service on all levels. Just a truly lovely evening in every way.
Came here for a date night with the hubs. The food suggestions were good and honest by the waitress. Gave nice disclosures in case there were items we didn’t prefer to eat. The Brussel sprouts app were surprisingly delicious, I’d say a slight heaviness on salt, but nonetheless still tasty. The crust on the pizza was spot on- crispy but not overcooked. Had the beignets and coffee after the meal and they were a tad bit harder than I prefer mine, but it’s not a complaint in the least bit. Overall a good dining experience.
It was my first time here but my date enjoyed it so that’s all that matters. So I will return as will she with her out of town guest
Great. Tasty food.
Wonderful service, great food and great wine! Delightful evening!
The atmosphere was elegant but modern. The food was good. Server was attentive.
Food was good, service was not. We arrived at 9pm and only one table was occupied. The wait staff, kitchen staff and even the valet worker was wondering around the dining room talking loud and telling jokes. They were cleaning all around us, banging dishes/glasses/silverware will doing make ready for the next day. Just not a pleasant atmosphere although the food was good and the look of the restaurant was very hip. I am willing to try again on a busy night. Granted it was a Monday, but the meal was the same price as Friday night.
Newish restaurant on Washington. White tablecloths really dress up this upscale comfort food establishment. Great service, great food, not one bad item. Good beverage selection. Try the carnitas potstickers. Burger won rave reviews.
The food and service here is consistently good. I’ve never had a meal at Union Kitchen that I didn’t enjoy. This was my first time at the Washington location and it was as good as my previous experiences at the Memorial location. The Groupon deal made it even better!
Consistently high quality service, food and ambiance.
It was great! I enjoyed my afternoon on the patio. There was a large group that took over the patio area and that were quite loud, but they left after about an hour or so. Other than that, everything was great! Will be back on a Sunday afternoon!
This place never disappoints! I love the food and the service!
Awesome. Very pretty and chill atmosphere.
Consistently good food and service.
Food was just ordinary, service was good. Almost no parking available so had to valet which is a problem because I don't like to give my keys or access to my car to anyone.
We always enjoy meals at The Union Kitchen and usually visit the Washington location. I love sitting in the bar area during Happy Hour. The senior bartender is EXCELLENT and knows the menu very well. The food is superb - you'll have a hard time picking ONE favorite thing! Can't wait to eat here again.
Overall good spot for Brunch. My one suggestion was the wait staff could have been more prompt. At the time we arrived for our reservation and was seated, I think roughly 10 minutes had gone by before a waiter came by our table and the restaurant was not even busy during the time we were there
Union Kitchen on Washington is consistently excellent in both service and food.
Really lovely restaurant, wonderful food (grilled salmon was outstanding), attentive and friendly waiter, everything was really great ... but low ceilings and a very loud party of 8 next to a fairly loud party of 4 meant that the two of us at our table, who tried to engage in conversation, had a hard time hearing each other. I would absolutely go again to the Union Kitchen, but will hope that the people dining are more attune to the fact that there are diners all around them who might actually want to have a conversation.
We have never been disappointed at the Union Kitchen. The brunch is very good!
The food and service were at best mediocre. Specifically, I ordered the salmon sandwich, from the Restaurant Week menu, that was very bland and all of the ingredients made the roll extremely soggy. The calamari tasted fine but was served in large pieces and extremely chewy. The waiter, though very nice, waited long periods to refill water and after we got our meal we had to flag him down to bring us the check because he just never came back to our table.
It was wonderful. From the appetizer, to the drinks, to the meal and the dessert. Will definitely return.
Excellent service and delicious food
Keep doing what you are doing. There were no left overs - the children's menu is great!
Chose Union Kitchen from the Houston restaurant week list. SO glad we did. We had a wonderful meal!! Food was delicious, service was excellent. The lemon blueberry cheesecake was to DIE FOR!! My only negative may have been that it was a little more than warm in the restaurant. I realize Houston was in the grips of a heat wave, but it was really, really warm. I would definitely go back and will not hesitate to recommend to friends. Overall a great dining experience and only mention the temperature to alert the establishment and not so much as a complaint or poor review.
I eat her fairly often since the food is consistently good, the atmosphere positive and the prices decent. This last visit was no exception--except our server...his shirt, pants and apron were filthy, I mean really filthy. He disappeared for long stretches of time and and when after an hour, we got our food it was room temperature -- obviously it had been sitting waiting pickup. We'll be back but once more is it.
The restaurant was about 1/3 full with what looked like to be only 2 waiters and 1 bartender. Even with the 10 tables occupied (half were finished when we arrived) the waiter took 15 minutes before asking us if we would care for a drink. Then it was another 15 before they arrived. Two of the entrees’ arrived 5-10 minutes before my pizza came out of the kitchen
Our waiter was rude and brought us the wrong entree after he took it upon himself to switch after my gf had just inquired about the other dish. Then, he acted like we were ridiculous for asking for a to go plate for our leftovers. I think he was trying to be funny, but completely missed the mark.
Tasty food, buzzy atmosphere and affordable.
