The Union Kitchen (Katy)
Food and service was great, will definitely be going back.
Casual restaurant with very nice food and a good cocktail menu. Seems for the price you'd at least get a nice tablecloth for dinner service...
Excellent food and service. We will definitely return to try more of their menu items. Quite a few unique choices in addition to traditional fare.
Easter brunch with family . The singer entertainer was so good
Food was great. Service was excellent. Will definitely be returning.
Service was ok but could have paid more attention to details. Wet app plates handed out before out appetizers were served. How can you use a soaking wet plate full of water?
We went on Easter Sunday. First, they provided one set of the Easter brunch menu and told us we should use our phones to see the full menus. We scan the code and it pulls up a listing of 14 menus. FOURTEEN. Our mothers are in their 70s and they are trying to figure out what to look at and one of us doesn’t get good reception in their establishment. After connecting to their WiFi and downloading an app we are finally looking at their menus. Fun. Note: we asked for hard copies of the menu and were provided one additional. The restaurant had opted for live music (a singer with a fabulous voice) which made it almost impossible to carry on a conversation. The server was clearly new and was trying hard but made so many mistakes (I.e. brought coffee with no sweetener, then brought sugar but no spoon to stir, etc). Some of the food was great, some was not (Easter lamb offering very over salted, my order came out wrong). We saw a fresh food of plate being delivered that had old food stuck all over the bottom of the plate. The ambience is like a diner but the prices are like a steakhouse. Overall: Not impressed.
Quick seating and service. Friendly staff and wonderful food.
We had a wonderful dinner at Union Kitchen. Service was exceptional and the food was very good.
Service was subpar and the expectations we had for Union kitchen meals were not met.
Fried calamari was more fried crumbles than calamari.
I can say the manager(I think) came over after hearing I had a shellfish allergy and did offer to cook the calamari in separate oil, which was nice, but never came back again.
Went on a Sunday evening at 7:15 after booking via OpenTable which claimed “Hurry, only 3 spots left” while making the reservation. Arrived and the restaurant was basically empty with only 4 tables sat. We sat in the bar and although our waitress was responsive, our experience was essentially one of being along for the ride as they cleaned up and prepared to close. Not what I’m looking for at this price point during prime dinner time. I ordered the short rib and was told they were out. I opted for the filet medallions, cooked medium, which were excellent the one other time I had them. Unfortunately that was a bad decision. Three medallions came out on a messy plate of risotto which was clearly an afterthought and rushed, each cooked to a different temperature (well done, medium, and so rare I didn’t eat the last one). My wife had the Salmon which was fine. We also ordered the calamari appetizer which was hit and miss depending on the piece you picked from the plate. A few were very “fishy” tasting which made you wonder about the quality and freshness of the food. You won’t last in the restaurant business if you are going to “mail it in” during prime time service even if it is on a Sunday. It’s spring break so people are out and about. I was very disappointed and will think twice before going back. Just when I was starting to think this place could be a reliable higher quality dining experience unfortunately that went out the window.
Awesome service and great food as always! Love the Texas Cobb Salad with shrimp and the calamari is so good. My son and husband love the Lobster Grilled Cheese. My daughter loves Tyler's chicken and Pasta.
Nice location, good food, and nice atmosphere. There were too many kids running around unattended, but I would still go back.
Our waiter, Christian, was amazing and very helpful. I asked him to recommend a Cabernet and his recommendation was spot on. He suggested a medium priced bottle and it was delicious and went well with our meals. The food was plated beautifully and made us anxious to taste the food. Let me say everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. What a nice, relaxing and tasty meal with good friends being served by a wonderful and helpful waiter. We will definitely back very soon!
Food was delicious. Service very slow. Drinks took too long to come out. Server needed to check back more offer
great food and great service
Two stars feels too low for us, but using the Open Table rating system.
Everyone was very polite. We were seated immediately but not given menus or QR Code for covid era menus.
Our server came by quickly to get a drink order. She noticed we didn’t have menus when she came back and got us the code.
We were extremely cold having been seated next to the patio door which kept getting opened because a party had apparently requested to sit out there (in 55*? Weirdos). The heat was turned up when we asked to be moved or have the temperature raised.
The crab tower appetizer was out quickly and tasted fine, but we had to go ask for silverware to eat it with. Nothing to write home about. The voodoo balls were ok as well.
The kids pizza and grilled cheese looked good and the kids ate it. The honey salmon was good but the eater dubbed it “probably overpriced for what it is”. The chimichurri steak was sent back. Husband is not a typical food sender backer and kept apologizing. The manager was extremely polite and calmed him down. The replacement burger was fine. The short rib meat was pretty good, but I did not care for the side at all. I will say the beignets were the highlight for us. Brownie was also good.
Perhaps we just hit an off night, but the food did not live up to our expectations based on reviews. The ambience is more like a diner than we had expected. Not a terrible experience but not more than “fair” for us.
Had a reservation, we were seated right away. Service was awesome. I had the Cobb Salad with grilled shrimp added, it was sooo yummy. It was packed with avocado, bacon, egg and grilled shrimp! My husband had the fish and chips and said it was really good. This was not our fist time eating here, we have never been disappointed.
Thank you for your feedback! We are excited to serve you again!
The server was extremely attentive, and the food was excellent, as always!
Great service and our waitress Faith was so accommodating she even helped my wife customize her food for her dietary needs without any issues.
I loved the live performer, she was great and the volume was perfect. The food was delicious!
Great food and service! I will definitely be returning.
Great fresh food and wonderful service ❣️
We were a party of 5 celebrating a family birthday. The service was awesome and the food was great! We had the Lobster potstickers and the Calamari for appetizers, and everyone loved them. We all had different entrees - honey glazed salmon, fish and chips, crab tower, lobster and grilled cheese sandwich, Asia salad with ahi tuna - and everyone loved their choices. Great restaurant!!
Food was good but only warm not hot as expected with egg dish. Donuts were very tasty but could have used a little more cooking, still a little doughy. Waitress was attentive but didn’t ask to take drink orders or if we wanted additional drinks. I was going to order a cocktail but wasn’t asked after first service of water and tea at table. We will definitely go back and try again since we heard great reviews from others but nothing special on our visit.
We finally decided to go to Union Kitchen near our home in Katy during prime time and it didn’t disappoint. We have been a few times before during the week at off peak times, loved the food and service, but didn’t love the quiet atmosphere due to few customers dining out. The pandemic most certainly is continuing to pose challenges there. This time around the atmosphere was vibrant and fun, with a lot of families and couples out enjoying their Friday night meals together. The food was excellent. I had the pork chop which is prepared via Sous vide and served with parmesan risotto and green beans, and my wife had the lobster grilled cheese. Both were delicious. Our waiter Alex was attentive and knowledgeable, social but not overly chatty and contributed to our enjoyment of the evening. We will definitely be back again soon.
This was our first meal out in a while. It was pretty busy yet we felt safe for the most part. The food was great and the service was nice. There were times we didnt see anyone for a while yet it looked like they were all helping eachother the best they could. My wife had chicken parm and the only concern was it was a bit over cooked, other than that the meal we had was lovely. From apps to desert we will be back. Great flavor and ambiance. Great for families or date night. They do have outdoor seating with heaters if you need that and they offer nice adult beverages from the bar.
Went for New Year’s brunch. Everything was fabulous! We will be back!
Delicious food and attentive service, definitely recommend it.
Great food and service for Christmas Eve!
Nice evening with friends. Flavorful meals, attentive service, reasonable pricing.
Great service, good was good
Everything was great!
The menu didn’t have a big selection for brunch. Food was ok service was just ok
Tasty lunch. Hummus was delicious!
Everything was great. Our server Holly was fabulous. Our entrees were delicious and we can't wait to go back.
Brunch was amazing! Outside music was a bit too loud- we moved inside and it was fantastic! Food was great and so was the staff. Will definitely come back!
Service was great and food was wonderful.
Price of food for the setting was a bit high but the quality of food makes up for it.
Just an observation: the hostess is the first impression inside the restaurant. 2 of 3 appeared sloppy and acted like they didn’t want to be there. One of them was fantastic and polite.
Excellent customer service and the food was amazing.
Wonderful food, great staff!
