Our sever, I believe Karen, was wonderful. I had the only vegetarian option on the menu - when there’s only one, I never have high hopes - but it was DELICIOUS. I expressed envy over my husbands fries (he had the hamburger, which he said was quite good), so I was brought fresh warm bread!!! Everything was wonderful, and the view was fantastic.
Four of us met for dinner and we were all very happy. The dining room is casual with well spaced tables. Our corner table was near the fireplace that has comfortable chairs for people who were enjoying a cocktail as we were chatting. The chefs specials included an amazing heirloom tomato salad and a halibut entree that my friends loved. Our meals were off the menu and amazing!
Great food, comfortable atmosphere, pretty location overlooking the Atlantic, friendly and enthusiastic service- a really fun night out...go here during the off season, it’s a gem!
Karen is wonderful. We were in town staying at family home. As I said Karen is fantastic. She took care of us last year and she remembered us. Can’t wait to go back. Food wonderful, cocktails great.. Jack n Rich
Our server Karen was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all.
Loved the fireplace and cozy sofas in the restaurant. Lobster was amazing, and service was very good. It was great to have a quiet atmosphere in which to have a conversation. We will be back!
The Grille was awesome! Karen our server/bartender had some great suggestions. The food was delicious and the view of Short Sands Beach was beautiful!
Flavors are fine and ambiance was above average. Prices are too high, though, keeping quite a few customers away, obviously. Sorry.
Pleasantly surprised how great the food and service was here!booked here on a whim. Our meals were delicious and our waitress was adorable (first shift waitressing and she was amazing)! Would definitely return and recommend to others.
I had requested a table with a water view, when we arrived and were seated I was thrilled with the fantastic ocean view! Although it was a holiday weekend and the place was busy, it did not effect our service! The charcuterie board was delightful, but the steamed Lobster was divine! The place has a lovely bar which was busy and boisterous but fun! I would say if you're looking for quiet conversation perhaps you might not want to sit in the bar area, but there are sections of the dining room definitely a bit more quiet! I will be returning!
The food was very good along with the service. We had a 6 P.M. Reservation on a
Thursday so it wasn't particularly busy at that time....not sure that would have made a difference. We plan on returning in a few months.
I enjoyed my visit to Union Grill. The restaurant was decorated conservative but very nice. The view of the beach and the ocean was great. We had an early dinner and were lucky enough to be there for happy hour with half price oysters. The cocktails were good and my salad with pickled ramps and crab was really tasty. My fiancees kale salad had way too much dressing (just order it on the side next time). I'd definitely visit here again.
excellent. everything was great! Nice fire to sit by after dinner.
Fabulous meal. Perfectly prepared dishes.
A great place for a casual dinner with wonderful food and ambience.
We were on a short vacation in Maine and found the Union Grill near our motel was highly rated on Trip Advisor. Booking it on Open Table was a breeze and the food was great but the service was even better. I had haddock with a lobster sauce that was delicious and my wife had a great whole lobster. We shared a fantastic blueberry cobbler for dessert. When my wife spilled the remainder of her glass of Proseco our waitress came back with a free bottle to replace it. The prices were much more reasonable than our dining experiences in Portsmouth, NH on the same trip.
Highly recommend! We enjoyed the charcuterie, roasted brussel sprouts and seafood entrees, specifically the halibut. Oysters were excellent.
We dined at Union Grill while vacationing in York, Maine. There is a wait to go to the Pub but we made reservations for the grill with no problem and no wait.
The menu is very creative.
We ordered 6 oysters that we had never had before. We loved the Brown points and the Bagaduce.
My husband had the salmon with barilouse and fennel. Loved it. And I had the lobster BLT. It was very good but I took the bacon off because it over powered the lobster too much for me. but the bacon was very good.
Service was very good. And the location was very local to the town.
My husband and I had a wonderful relaxing meal and while we had a nice view of Short Sands I did feel a bit crammed into our space. Heard the entire conversation of nearby diners. Our food was delicious. We will be back.
We celebrated July 4th in the Grill and had reserved a window table. The food and service were
very good and the wait staff extremely accommodating considering the busy nite. The
valet service is definitely a plus. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Staying at the Hotel so no more convenient place to eat and it being such a quality places is a double bonus. Best restaurant in York by far.
I love to people watch. This was perfect for watching people all with a fantastic view of the bay. The service and food were incredible. Honestly I could have stayed there all night just sipping my wine. I will definitely return.
This breakfast is also fab-with wonderful omelletes-beyond any expectation.
We went off season (February) and we were very happy with The Union Grill & Pub. The food was wonderful! My husband had the duck and enjoyed every bite! I had the haddock and enjoyed every bite as well. It is small restaurant with a nice view and a fireplace. Be sure to make reservations due to the size. It will not disappoint!
Nice place to go in the off season when everything else is closed up. Very friendly people - a lot of locals
Service was a bit challenging Food was great First time service was an issue we have been going there for years
That view! Can't beat that view. Great ambiance, free valet parking, and walking distance to Main St. Try the Lobster BLT! There are two sides - the pub or the grill. The grill is better for a quiet meal, the pub is a more casual place.
The food was terific and had a great view as we sat at a window table.
We are on vacation every year in York and we wanted to try something new. This something new was not what I was looking for. Very stuffy for a beach environment. Wish I had waited for a seat in the pub next door. 😕
Go here all the time and usually LOVE our experience. This time the food was outstanding as usual, the only problem was the service. We sat on the grill side and had the bartender as our waitress. The waitress took a very long time to greet us and had the worst attitude I have ever experienced. I believe after a while she realized we were not happy and decided to change her attitude before the bill game. We will definitely be back in hopes our experience will improve!
Husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal with a great view last Saturday night. Waitress was great - checking on us without being intrusive and the timing of the different courses was perfect. Would definitely go back.
Overpriced for little, slightly better than average food. Waitstaff weak. No kids menu in an area that is full of families. We would not go back to restaurant.
We celebrated our anniversary and even though last minute the presentation, preparation of food and warm welcome were the pinnacle of our day.
Thank you for making it so memorable on such a wonderful occasion!
Food is fresh and well prepared..... Presentations just OK. But it is still a local place, run by locals....can't hit the curve ball or think outside the box. If you stay between the lines the experience should be OK.
We had a very nice dinner at Union Grill. Overlooking the ocean, food nicely done, waitstaff helpful.
Union Bluff Grill was a wonderful dining experience. It was like walking into your a special home with fireplace burning, beautiful ocean view and perfect lighting. The presentation of the plates chosen were outstanding but the food was twice that in flavor. Service was excellent. A very nice evening. I would defintely recommend this restaurant and of course go there again.
We went to Union Bluff as a party of 6 and all of us enjoyed our meals! This is my fourth visit to the restaurant and every time my meal was excellent.
We were married at this hotel and came back for a holiday/anniversary dinner. The food was wonderful and the chef was great with a few special requests we had. We were there on the early side (around 5:30 pm), but even once it filled up, the service was very prompt. A great way to end a day in the cold, sitting next to the fireplace with a delicious meal.
Don't make the mistake of going non-seafood here... while the steak is great, as is the pork... you MUST go with the Lobster Ravioli dish. I command you.
P.S. The cookie and caramel puff desserts are remarkable, too!
Our server was friendly and knowledgeable; the food and drink recommendations were awesome. I got the salmon which was cooked to perfection and the Ginger Martini was balanced: not too sweet or strong (alcohol-wise and ginger-wise). We were there for lunch the day before on the outdoor patio which looks out on Short Sands Beach, but the server wasn't as engaged; however, the food was still outstanding.
Seared Haddock was one of the best dishes we ever had! 5 Stars. Sherry Cream Sauce with Lobster accompaniment was fabulous. Beautiful decor and view. Highly recommended by the Wealthy Waiter!
