The Union Grill - The Union Bluff Hotel Ratings and Reviews
I had requested a table with a water view, when we arrived and were seated I was thrilled with the fantastic ocean view! Although it was a holiday weekend and the place was busy, it did not effect our service! The charcuterie board was delightful, but the steamed Lobster was divine! The place has a lovely bar which was busy and boisterous but fun! I would say if you're looking for quiet conversation perhaps you might not want to sit in the bar area, but there are sections of the dining room definitely a bit more quiet! I will be returning!
I enjoyed my visit to Union Grill. The restaurant was decorated conservative but very nice. The view of the beach and the ocean was great. We had an early dinner and were lucky enough to be there for happy hour with half price oysters. The cocktails were good and my salad with pickled ramps and crab was really tasty. My fiancees kale salad had way too much dressing (just order it on the side next time). I'd definitely visit here again.
We were on a short vacation in Maine and found the Union Grill near our motel was highly rated on Trip Advisor. Booking it on Open Table was a breeze and the food was great but the service was even better. I had haddock with a lobster sauce that was delicious and my wife had a great whole lobster. We shared a fantastic blueberry cobbler for dessert. When my wife spilled the remainder of her glass of Proseco our waitress came back with a free bottle to replace it. The prices were much more reasonable than our dining experiences in Portsmouth, NH on the same trip.
We dined at Union Grill while vacationing in York, Maine. There is a wait to go to the Pub but we made reservations for the grill with no problem and no wait.
The menu is very creative.
We ordered 6 oysters that we had never had before. We loved the Brown points and the Bagaduce.
My husband had the salmon with barilouse and fennel. Loved it. And I had the lobster BLT. It was very good but I took the bacon off because it over powered the lobster too much for me. but the bacon was very good.
Service was very good. And the location was very local to the town.
We went off season (February) and we were very happy with The Union Grill & Pub. The food was wonderful! My husband had the duck and enjoyed every bite! I had the haddock and enjoyed every bite as well. It is small restaurant with a nice view and a fireplace. Be sure to make reservations due to the size. It will not disappoint!
Go here all the time and usually LOVE our experience. This time the food was outstanding as usual, the only problem was the service. We sat on the grill side and had the bartender as our waitress. The waitress took a very long time to greet us and had the worst attitude I have ever experienced. I believe after a while she realized we were not happy and decided to change her attitude before the bill game. We will definitely be back in hopes our experience will improve!
Union Bluff Grill was a wonderful dining experience. It was like walking into your a special home with fireplace burning, beautiful ocean view and perfect lighting. The presentation of the plates chosen were outstanding but the food was twice that in flavor. Service was excellent. A very nice evening. I would defintely recommend this restaurant and of course go there again.
We were married at this hotel and came back for a holiday/anniversary dinner. The food was wonderful and the chef was great with a few special requests we had. We were there on the early side (around 5:30 pm), but even once it filled up, the service was very prompt. A great way to end a day in the cold, sitting next to the fireplace with a delicious meal.
Our server was friendly and knowledgeable; the food and drink recommendations were awesome. I got the salmon which was cooked to perfection and the Ginger Martini was balanced: not too sweet or strong (alcohol-wise and ginger-wise). We were there for lunch the day before on the outdoor patio which looks out on Short Sands Beach, but the server wasn't as engaged; however, the food was still outstanding.
We love coming as frequently as possible. The atmosphere is warm and friendly; the staff is superb; and the food is memorable. Every effort is seen in the preparation and presentation of our meal and the result is a very satisfied and delighted customer. We take our dear family and friends at every opportunity we can.
We met friends at the Union Grill and they had never dined there. We see them once a year so we were looking for a quieter setting with good food. It was perfect!!! It was a foggy and cool evening so the fire was lit in the beautiful fieldstone fireplace and the corner table was cozy and quiet.
The food was excellent, everyone loved their meal and the service was terrific. I would highly recommend the Union Grill.
Two different restaurants..one is a semi formal style, the other is a pub style...and you cannot order anything off the pub menu in the semi formal side...that was a little weird, so we moved to the pub side because their menu was actually more extensive. (Actually the pub menu has most of the semi formal menu items on it). But the con part of the pub is it can get very loud and messy. But good if you have energetic kids. Pub side service wasn't very good, but food was pretty good for pub fare.
Our waitress was great, and the food was fresh and delicious. The chef was able to accommodate a slight modification to one of the dishes without any fuss. The dining room is small, but cozy. Not necessarily for small children, but the pub side (with a popcorn machine) lends itself to families with small children.
