Farm-to-table
A casual dining experience that will infuse the cooking from the low country to the mountains of South Carolina. We try to source all of our food from local farmers. The Tulip Tree is also a firm believer in the arts as we have murals painted on our walls by local artist and we also have some 2-D art work hanging for sale from local art galleries and artist. Our restaurant is all about the Art, Cocktails, and Cuisine. We hope to have you join us very soon.

First time there and it was outstanding. The service (Joshua) was exquisite. He was attentive, but not overly so. It was Mother's Day, and I took my best friends Mom to the Tulip Tree. My buddy had passed away recently, and I just didn't want her to miss this day. We ordered a LOT of food, and shared and sampled. Joshua graciously provided extra small plates (Tapas style) and it was perfect. Two of our original group of 5 did not attend after all. But we enjoyed ourselves. We discovered we all love seafood, including oysters, so we started with the Oysters Rockefeller. They were just ok, in my opinion, but they had a pimento cheese sauce rather than a traditional Hollandaise sauce. No complaints, we ate them all, but we all agreed they could be called something else, just not Rockefeller. She Crab soup, everyone loved it. We each scooped up a healthy amount of crab onto our spoons, and the flavor was delightfull sherry or? but also very light. So enjoyable. We ordered these Sweet Potatoe with Rosemary, and it was so different and also dellicious. The sauteed Brussel sprouts, are truly some of the best I've ever tasted. The Watermelon Salad was beautifully presented on a bed of healthy spinach, but the watermelon flavor got lost somewhere, with several other ingredients. But forgiveable, certainly. We all thought it was such an interesting menu, which is why we chose so many things. Our entrees arrived; two of us had the Crab Cakes, and the other had the Crab Benedict with Hollandaise. She loved hers, and we enjoyed the Crab Cakes, highly recommended by our server, Joshua. He continued to keep our water glasses filled (they provide a chilled glass bottle full of water on the table-BRAVO for that fine touch. Two of us had a French Rose, that was somewhat dryer than we expected, but actually it was so delicious, we each had a second glass. Wish I could remember the proper name but it was something with a V and from France. I will return!!!

Attractive interior, good service. My husband and I and our granddaughter enjoyed our hamburgers. I ordered collard greens instead of the fries. The greens were too salty and the waitress kindly replaced them with asparagus. One granddaughter did not think the shrimp dish was that good, not flavorful. We all thought the prices were high.

I want to like The Tulip Tree. On this visit I went with my Mother In Law. We had two major bad happenings with the food. Her salad came with Blue Cheese dressing. She dipped her fork in it and almost gagged. So, I had to try it... lol. Whoa... it was the consistency of soured cream (soured not sour) and tasted like it. It was SO bad. The other thing was that I ordered the Ribeye as medium rare. It came out well done and was extremely dry. In addition, it was like it was cooked on a dirty grill. Some char is okay but this was so bad it just made the whole steak taste like char and only char. Because of time constraints I just lived with the steak. I ate about 30% of it. I love the idea of The Tulip Tree but have not had an above average experience yet.

Easter Sunday Brunch Mumbling waiter finally showed up at our table after 10 minutes to take drink order. We went ahead and ordered food too since we didn’t know when we would see him again. Ordered 2 poached eggs and bacon (supposedly served with potatoes), Wilkie Beef on Weck, and Broccoli Raub (yes that’s the spelling on the menu and it should be Rabe). This was brunch, and there was no option of any toast to accompany the eggs. In fact, the waiter didn’t even offer an English muffin (they did do Benedicts). He just informed us there was no option. The waiter came back and told us they were out of broccoli rabe. Eggs came sunny side up with no potatoes. Sent that back. Wilkie Beef on Weck was really Wilkie Beef on Brioche. Kept that order, but really ordered the dish for the Weck. Overall - service and food - were severely lacking. Especially for a holiday brunch. Will not return.

We enjoyed our Easter brunch! I gave the food a four-star rating because the potatoes were cold. It’s a little pricey, but great for those special occasions. You can eat more cheaply if you don’t order any sides, desserts or drinks. :-) A wonderful atmosphere!

Sat at an outdoor table for Music on Main. Service with Sam was great as always! Food was disappointing. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller and instead of coming out as described on the menu with spinach, they were made with collard greens and looked totally unappetizing. We sent them back and they were remade correctly. Taste on the second plate was fine but not great. Bone in chicken was overcooked.

Service was horrible it took 30 minutes for two sodas. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good. Everything else was not good at all. I took one bite of the crab cakes and it was all filler no crab at all. I was hoping for this place to be great as the menu looked really good. We were not impressed!

This was our first time dining at Tulip. Our server was very nice, however, he seemed overwhelmed with the number of tables he was waiting on. Our drink order took quite a bit of time due to the fact that they were out of one of the drinks. Our appetizers were OK… We had the okra and then the fried deviled egg. The okra had a great taste, however, it was very chewy and unable to be bitten through. Our lunch entrées took quite a while to be served. When they were presented, the presentation was done nicely however, the temperature was tepid. There was a scarce amount of hollandaise on the eggs Benedict. The shrimp and grits omelette had not a trace of a grit. I should’ve mentioned some thing while we are there, in the future, I will definitely do so. It was very nice that they were complementary birthday desserts. We may try them again.

The ambiance and service were great. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. I ordered the filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes. It was served in a massive plate, but the food was squeezed into the top corner of the plate. The rest was used as a canvas for balsamic glaze art. The steak was bland and overly charred, the potatoes were adequate, but polluted by the balsamic glaze. The asparagus was ok at best. Not worth the money at all.

We chose to venture to Spartanburg to try something new. The Tulp Tree was a great surprise and a wise choice. First, the restaurant was very relaxing and there was plenty of room between the tables, so it was easy to carry on a conversation with your table mates. Second, the drinks were spot on. The Limoncello Lemon Drop was incredible, so we had a few. Third, the food was so good. The Pork Chop was amazing, and the Fried Chicken was perfectly cooked. We had to drive 40 minutes to get there, and it was worth the drive. We talked about how good the food was and what a good time we had the whole ride home. We will definitely go back.

My ceaser salad had no dressing at all and skin from the fish in it. So I was a little disappointed by that. The entree with the red snapper was bland. The shrimp and grits were good but would have liked more grits and shrimp for the price. The cheesecake was hard and no cold. I enjoyed my mule and the service was good and everyone was friendly. Was hoping for a better taste.

Some really good items some mediocre items. Deviled eggs fried —interesting, Brussels sprouts charred very good. The butter that come with the bread — needs to go back to the drawing board. Shrimp and grits solid and different. Salmon needs something — Overall an uneven performance but willing to give it another chance

Our server didn’t come to check on us very much at all. Most of the food we had was absolutely delicious, especially the brussel sprouts. My main issue was that the steak (ribeye) I ordered to be cooked medium rare was medium well and well done in some places. Made it very dry and tough. I’ll definitely be back, but not to get the steak

There were 10 of us, spent almost $400, and the food was not worth the price. I am willing to pay the price for good food. Those who had fries, it looked like it was dehydrated and tasted like it was either reheated or cooked in old oil that needed to be changed. Whatever the case, those fries were not fresh. BBQ pull pork was dry. Salmon was okay. The best one was the pork chop. That was actually good and moist. I would not recommend this place to my friends. I would not go here again unless it’s someone’s birthday and they have their heart set for here. Atmosphere was good. Service was great. Food presentation was good. I just think it’s overpriced for what we got, especially when it can’t even get the fries right. The quality of the fries says to me they didn’t care, because how can you mess up fries?! They were definitely not fresh.
