Elevated southern style cuisine. Unique drinks and appetizers that perfectly compliment the main course and don’t forget to save room for dessert. It’s a must! The chef came out and chatted with us as well as the GM. Everyone bent over backwards to provide 10/10 service. We will definitely be back- it’s our new go to date night spot.
The food was prepared well the service was okay not worth the white cloth prices...
The food was excellent. The dishes are reasonably priced, particularly for the amount of food you receive. The ambiance (decor, lighting, music) doesn’t quite fit with the menu, but this establishment is newer, and those details will most likely be worked out in time. I would return.
Beautiful decor! Very creative: matches the menu: staff was very attentive and charming.
Food and service was excellent! The vibe for brunch was a bit more suited for a dinner crowd (lighting and music) but am definitely coming back to try the dinner options. I just prefer a more airy and light ambience for lunch time frame.
Easter lunch- wonderful!
Great food, great service and great ambiance. Really appreciated direct interaction with management!
Such a great addition to the downtown area! Such nice staff, great service and delicious food!
Always a great experience!! The food is always wonderful!!
We recommend going!!!
We made reservations for brunch as we weren't sure the crowd would be like on a Sunday morning. Food was great, service wonderful, and the chef came and spoke to us. We would definitely go back if we are in Spartansburg for travel again.
We had a great time Saturday night. My wife and met a couple of friends there for dinner. The food was excellent. I am so glad that there is a good restaurant in the neighborhood now. I will recommend this place to all my friends.
Excellent and attentive service, but the food was a disappointment in general.
The hush puppies had a burnt taste to the exterior crust, though the inside was good.
The age crab soup was delicious.
The paella-style rice was a mixed bag, with the seafood items mostly good but the spice level far too heavy handed.
The pork special was better, with tender and tasty pork belly plus a pork shank I liked (but the wife thought again too heavily seasoned).
The bread pudding came out cold on the first attempt at dessert but the redo was good.
Potential is there, but execution failed on this occasion.
The food was fabulous! My wife and I enjoyed date night and we always look for a fine dining experience that isn't a franchise or BIG-FOOD corporately-owned establishment. The Tulip Tree will go on the date night list.
Great brunch. Can’t wait to try dinner.
Chorizo hash with poached eggs was amazing.
Different take on shrimp and grits that are definitely worth it. Will go back again soon.
Hope Spartanburg will continue to support this gem.
I wanted to like this hyper local restaurant. Good service. Varied selection of drinks. The room was too warm; another table was fanning themselves with their menus. The music was a bit whine-y. The food was hit or miss. The Bibb lettuce salad with truffle oil had way too many flavors going on: truffle oil, pimento cheese, poached pear, pickles, pickled vegetables, smoked shrimp, and so on. (The smoked shrimp were great.). It just didn’t work all together. The pork chop was wonderful, seasoned with a great rub and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a great Apple compote, and a too-strong rabbit sausage. But The blue crab cannelloni was the biggest disappointment: lots of butter and cream and cheese, some pecans on top, but hardly any crab and hardly any taste; way too bland and rich. Advice: order simple dishes, and the pork.
We had a great waiter and we liked that the chef came out to ask how was our food
Excellent newer option for dining in downtown Spartanburg, SC. Menu (Food & Cocktails) is inclusive of favorites with unique twists too. I shall return often in supporting "The Tulip Tree".
Excellent food and service. They have re-done the space from a prior restaurant and it was delightful!
Great food and atmosphere. Will go back soon.
My husband and I had an absolutely fantastic brunch with The Tulip Tree. I can't think of a single time that we have loved everything from appetizer to dessert! Definitely will return.
This is a great restaurant! Food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch. I had the pork special which was tender and full of flavor. Can't recommend it enough
Both interesting and different food, well cooked and nicely presented. The rabbit sausage was outstanding. And the pork ribeye was excellent. Drinks were excellent, be sure to try the Smoking Manhattan. Very good service and a pleasant ambience. We will return. Sunday brunch menu looks very interesting.
Very friendly waitstaff! Excellent food! The executive chef, manager, and one of the owners all stopped by our table and made us feel welcome! Will definitely be back!

Valentines
We appreciate you taking your time to leave a review! Thank you!!
Attended the Valentines special dinner. It was a wonderful experience and the food was one of the best meals I have experienced anywhere. This restaurant is new to Spartanburg in the last 10 weeks, and should be a huge success. We will definitely return soon.
Thank you so much for taking your time to leave a 5 star review! We hope we continue to impress. Hopefully we'll see you for St. Patrick's Day!
We enjoyed the Valentines special. Food, wine, service... all were very good. We would go back again.
Thank you, Darlene! We can't wait to see you again. If you liked the Valentine's Day menu, make sure to check out our offerings for St. Patrick's Day. Hope to see you there!
Pleasantly surprised by this gem of a restaurant in Spartanburg! First time here but definitely NOT our last!
My wife and I have traveled in the US and over seas. The Tulip Tree is right up there with the best of them of any restaurant in NY City We have eaten. The brunch is absolutely amazing. You can't go wrong with anything on the dinner menu.
We appreciate you taking your time to leave a review! We will humbly accept your compliments. We try hard to impress. Hopefully we'll see you again soon!
This was our first visit to the Tulip Tree. I had the braised beef which had a wonderful flavor and melted in my mouth. It was complimented with a side of grits and a side of collard greens, both being some of the best I've eaten anywhere.
My bride had the salmon with sides of braised vegetables and roasted mushrooms. Everything was a 10! Our waitress was friendly and checked on us frequently during our meal. The dessert menu looked interesting but we were too full to partake. When we left the restaurant, we both said we will return in the near future. I'm looking forward to our next visit.
We appreciate your kind words! We always strive to be our best and hope we continue to impress. We'll see you again soon!
An excellent restaurant that rounds out the top end of Spartanburg’s dining choices.
The bar service was extraordinary as was our server Courtney.
I would suggest that the menu choices in relation to what sides are included be more descriptive. Also, a better description of what each entree actually IS might be more helpful.
Overall a dining experience not to be missed.
Thank you for your 5 star review, Jonathan! We'll be working on the menu layout when we premier our Spring menu. We appreciate it being brought to our attention so we know where we need to improve. Other than that, we're happy you had a great experience! Can't wait to see you again!
Enjoyed my visit to the Tulip Tree for a baby shower that I was hosting. Our server, Sam, was phenomenal! She catered to our very need, friendly personality, very knowledgeable of the menu and alternatives for our vegetarian guests. You can tell none of this delicious food comes from a box or can, as every dish looked fresh and the meat is prepared/ cured in house! Super satisfied with our visit and we plan to return again!
Thank you so much! We're so thankful you chose us to host your baby shower.
Someone once told me that Spartanburg doesn't like good food, they like restaurants; the Tulip Tree epitomizes that sentiment. It's a well decorated place with interesting touches from the selection of art to the dishes. The wait staff was friendly, but the food and drinks were just not good.
My friend and I went for brunch and nothing we ordered was that tasty. The sangria tasted like cheap wine poured over ice and fruit (at $8/glass, I expected something better, something akin to true sangria with brandy etc). The biscuits had the quality of being both doughy and like sand at the same time. If I hadn't had a glass of water while eating them, I probably would have choked. The rest of the food was equally bad. I got the skillet that was promised to have a "kick" with Nashville hot chicken being the inspiration. None of that was true, it was neither spicy nor tasty and the chicken itself was dry. My friend got the Cinnamon French Toast and it was just burnt on the bottom. At $17 a plate, I expected a lot more.
We were hungry when we got there, but after trying a few bites of everything, we just decided to give up.
The waitress was nice enough to give us a discount when we left because we did let her know that we weren't satisfied with the meal. I hope they get it together, Spartanburg has been doing well in some areas of dining, but this experience makes me wonder if good brunch can be had in Spartanburg.
From the moment we walked in I felt as though I had stepped out of Spartanburg into downtown Greenville. Food and staff were amazing! Our waitress was super helpful with recommendations, and we always love when the chef visits the table for a chat. Was there with my husband and MIL for Saturday brunch. We each got a different dish, and my husband commented that it was one of the few places he’d trade with any of us or keep his dish because all were delish! Definitely will be back. Everything on the menu was so tasty!
Thank you for your kind words! We always aim to impress and are so happy we didn't fall short. We'll see you again soon!
Great ambience! Beautiful artwork everywhere! Food was delicious!
Stopped in on our way through town. We got the sampler for the appetizer. We enjoyed all 3 selections. My wife got the shrimp and grits and really enjoyed trying the chefs different take on the dish. Overall we really enjoyed the food. We stopped on Saturday night and was a little surprised at the lack of crowd, but we would go back.
The presentation and taste of the meal were both perfect. The cocktails and service were excellent. This was our first visit but definitely will not be our last.
Fantastic restaurant! Great ambiance, amazing food, and super friendly and attentive staff. Plenty of COVID precautions in place, and lots of distance between tables. I had the omelet with veggies and a biscuit, both were incredible. Would love to go here again, too bad it's in Spartanburg instead of Columbia where I live!
The food was phenomenal and we were greeted by the chef and owner and later checked on by them as well. Service by our waitress was also top notch--she made some good recommendations and we were well attended to. Love the decor and ambience and that you are not rushed out. Prices are very reasonable, especially since most items are locally farmed and fresh. The menu changes seasonally which give you a chance to try what you like and then experience different flavors and items. This place is truly a gem and the one of the best downtown Spartanburg restaurants!
