The best food Ive ever eaten in Maidstone! Very often its not worth the effoert to go out for a meal as so often the food is poorm quality, poorly cooked or just ordinary. The Townhouse has special food, beautifully prepared and imaginative. It's such a pity that the management have not invested in training the very willing waiters. They seem to know very little about the food they are serving and don't seem to have any concept of how to help the diner choose! In fact the management are missing business opportunities for increasing diner spend. Many reviewers claim The Townhouse is expensive - it is but for a special occasion it's worth it. As the restaurant was only about one third full on Saturday night I suggest that the prices could be dropped by 10 - 15% and the business would more than double as word gets around also wind prices that are three times ths cost from Waitrose are also a little hefty and are likely to put people off.

First time visit to this local restaurant with my wife and cant recommend it highly enough. It's relatively small but not cramped, more intimate and allowing for great service . The menu was excellent, all the "masterchef" touches but all the dishes I had worked really well ( who knew Charred watermellon goes with steak!!) . The bar service and range of cocktals again were top notch with knowledgable and helpful staff .

Finally, a place in Maidstone that is not a franchise chain serving food with no character. This is the place to go if you want a nice meal, cooked there and then, quickly but not rushed. The staff are helpful, good suggestions of wines that compliment the food. They are young but good at their job, even when the restaurant was almost full. If you a meal deal for two, don't go here, spend a little more and the quality is there to be seen. We will be going back soon.

Excellent evening: food delicious, really nice and reasonable Sauvignon blanc, friendly service. Definitely best restaurant in area and will back again.

I was nervous when the waiter said the chef had changed and the food style with it, however the new chef didn't disappoint. Lovely food, beautifully presented as always, with wonderful service (they can't do enough for you). The lunch deal at £12 for 2 courses is a bargain, although watch the drink prices.

Excellent food in delightful Georgian rooms. The service was very attentive without being fussy, and the courses followed without any great delay. I have had better food but not at these prices, so will happily return

What a great find! I took my Mum for a pre-Mother's Day lunch. I was looking for something a bit more special than a pub lunch that we usually have when we meet up. The service in particular was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu, as well as being able to explain the history of the establishment. The food and drink menu was varied and interesting and certainly enjoyable. Will definitely return in the future.

Warm welcome at the door and attentive service. Great menu and a nice wine selection made for a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday lunch. Haunch of Venison with an Australian shiraz was promptly served and just as promptly despatched. Recommended.

The food here is good but not as good as the price suggests. There's some nice ideas on the menu but it just needs perfecting. Other than that, the service is very good and waiters attentive. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed.
