About

The Torch Riviera is a historic dining establishment located at the south end of beautiful Torch Lake in Rapid City, MI. The building was constructed in 1936 and has borne a variety of identities, including a grocery store, gas station, dance hall, Chinese restaurant, local watering hole, upscale dining, and more. The thread that ties all of these incarnations together is the longstanding tradition of community throughout the building’s life. The Torch Riviera has long been a hub for social gatherings, reconnections, and community building. New local owners Ben and Chelsea Kline are committed to fostering community with their scratch menu, farm-to-table model, and passion for local history. Good food, great times, and excellent service are what really make The Riv shine. Our motto is Real Food for Real People served with Real Smiles, and we mean it. Let's Eat!

Made my reservation for 9/2/19 for 6:30 p.m. for 3. When I got to the Torch Riviera it was closed.

I have like the food in the past. That is why I tried to dine there again. No notification of the closure.

Disappointed.

Had read a lot about the changes since the new owners took over and went with high expectations, but left disappointed. Food was mediocre. Gluten free pizza crust was the worse I’ve ever had. Service was slow. Chairs felt like they were going to break

Took over an hour to get our food! And it wasn’t that busy!

We were seated in the very back of the restaurant where there were no other diners. The place looked very dated and dingy. We waited 7-10 minutes, were never greeted and left.

Probably the 2nd toughest steak I ever ate in my life? I waited an hour for it and after having to spit out 6 successive bites I asked for a box , maybe the dog can chew it?
Pizza is supposed to be good but I dropped enough money on 4 dinners I won’t bother going back

Got a 6pm reservation on a Saturday night at the lake, figured it would be packed, not the case. Service was pretty slow for such a light seating. Food was good up until the prime rib came. It was cold, as were the smash potatoes. Only hot thing on plate was the asparagus, which was phenomenal. I sent the prime rib back to throw on the grill to heat it up. Came back fine but when I put the Aus jus on it I ruined it. I had no idea they made an Aus jus that was a red wine reduction. It completely destroyed the prime rib flavor. I’m not blaming the chef, just if I would have know the Aus jus was a red wine reduction I would have skipped it. Only fear is the service being that slow on a not busy evening, how is it going to be when full summer crowds hit?

Our server Bridget was very attentive along with help of the busboy !! Very apparent that the salmon and Kobi steak were quality fresh and prepared very well
