About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Permanently Closed - We do not accept reservations for outside dining.

The atmosphere is casual and fun, with colorful graphics enlivening the walls and menus. Seating is ample for families; and the whimsical tomato chairs by furniture maker Peter Danko are always a favorite. In warm weather there are 50 seats beneath the arbor for outdoor dining by the lake.

Service very slow even though not many customers. They ran out of glasses so I had to wait to get a refill. Total different experience than clydes next door.

Great food and a great value. I hope that this place never closes down since we have taken our family there since it opened. It has really become a staple of the Columbia community.

The Tomato Palace is a local gem. The pizza is excellent and very reasonable as are all their entrees. The 3 Italian wines they have for $10 a bottle are the best deal in Columbia.

Isaac, our server, could not have been more pleasant.
The kitchen was backed up and he apologized for the long wait for our dinner.
Outstanding young man!!
Our group loved their meals and wine.
However the muffuletta, which I ordered, was more than disappointing. I should have stuck with an Italian dish. I won't let my poor choice stop me from returning!

We were sitting for around 10 or 15 minutes and not a single waiter. A few min more someone came to give water and we started joking that it's a bad wait to get our order. He said he's not the waiter. How much longer do we have to wait? We finally stood up and went to another restaurant. The place is so undermanned and cannot carry their customers. Sad... It was our favorite place.

The Tomato Palace was the unanimous pick of all four of us since we have been there many times before. We enjoy the fresh ingredients and the service. I have difficulty deciding between the Seafood Linguini, Sausage Rigatoni sub Chicken & the Seafood Pizza. My wife's favorite is the Salmon. Don't forget the $10 bottles of wine, especially the Montipulciano. Our service Patrick was friendly & very professional. We'll be back!

We come here almost every weekend for years. It's one of our favorite restaurants. We love coming here since it has a very friendly atmosphere, good food and very good service.
The manager is also very accommodating, caring and friendly. He makes sure everyone is okay.

Whenever we ask each other where we are going to eat for our Friday night dinner, my hubby always responds, Tomato Palace!

We waited for 15 minutes to be greeted by our server. Not even a glance. Multiple servers walked by us like we were invisible. I would be more sympathetic if they were busy but they weren't. Would definitely go back but not if this is a pattern.

Had an early lunch - 4 adults & 2 children. Restaurant had just opened for business but they welcomed us. Terrific, friendly service, very good food selection, and all reasonably priced. Extra special treatment for the kids (2 & 5), managers stopped by to ensure all was good and we had a fantastic experience. We'll be back and would gladly recommend to others.

The wait staff was very knowledgeable of the entrees. Love the fact that you can get a $10.00 bottle of wine and if you it is not totally consumed you can take it home. Also $ 5.00 glass of wine. Love the location.

We dine at the Tomato Palace frequently. We love the fresh food, always presented beautifully, and the terrific wait staff. Our favorites are the crab cakes (best anywhere) and the salads, but all the food is good. We also enjoy the $10 bottle of wine specials!

Our server was not quite rude, but one micro step above it. He rushed us through our meal and missed out on an opportunity for us to buy more drinks. There was no reason for his behavior as it was half empty. The food was excellent and everyone liked it.

Had high expectations once we realized it was part of clydes. Bread was delicious and excellent wine selection and value. Food was disappointing (given expectations of clydes). Service was great. Next time would try pizza and avoid pasta dishes.

Had not visited in several years. Used to be one of our favorite nights out with the kids. Sadly it has gone down hill., at least the night we went. The room still looks nice but food was average at best. Fortunately the entrees are relatively inexpensive. The service was the major issue. The waiter was nice but our dishes were not cleared between courses. He forgot to bring us several requested items (eg Parmesan cheese). Did not know how to pour wine correctly. Just a lack of detail. Only 1/5 full at 8 PM on a Saturday so others must have figured this out too. Hope that it improves!

Enjoyed a casual meal with another couple who are old friends. Service was quick and the food was excellent, as usual, and a great value as well. As usual the fresh baked bread was warm and delicious, and we enjoyed a very good red from the $10 wine list, a Promiso Sangiovese. Highly recommend Tomato Palace for quality food at very reasonable prices.

We keep coming back because we like the food and value. The service was very good the first time we went as well. However, the service has declined the last few times. We have continued to return because we are hopeful the service component will be fixed soon.

We spoke to the manager in late September. He was quite apologetic, attributing it to churn. He did discount our meal.

They need waiters with experience. The waiter we had was terrible emptying the un-eaten food onto one plate right at our table(something you would do at home). He passed plates in front of another diner. Very late with the bread coming which was skimpy for 4 people. When we asked for more, finally the hostess brought 3 slices from somewhere?

The Tomato Palace has been a restaurant we have known since 1993 when it opened in Columbia. It used to be an excellent dining experience. The food was so-so, don't get the crab cake, it is more of a fish cake. The only salvation is the splendid bottle of wine at an everyday price of 10 dollars, you can take the rest home with you.

Sorry to write negative remarks about what used to be a fine place to dine. We won't go back DanB
