The Tobacco Company Restaurant
First class from start to finish.
We had a great dinner at The Tobacco Company Restaurant! We were a group of 8. We were seated in our own "room". It was easy to talk with each other even though the restaurant was quite crowded. The food was excellent. The service was excellent.
I hadn't been to The Tobacco Company for more than 15 years. Its as great as ever. Loved the live music, the food and great service from our waiter Keith!
Overwhelmingly pleased by my experience here :D - Food was magnificent with minimal wait times between courses! The special was very reasonably priced and overall my party of 3 felt like we got away on the cheap end considering the quality.
Our waiter was super super. The food was superb.....a wonderful birthday dinner.
Phenomenal fold and atmosphere! 5 stars all around!
Great service and food was delicious with nice presentation
Keith did a GREAT job!! We were celebrating a special occasion, and he went out of his way to enhance anyway he could yet give us space
I enjoyed my visit and I enjoyed the food. My reservation was acknowledged on the spot, service was great. While waiting for all my guests to arrive, we had drinks in the lounge area where the bar was and drinks were very good as well. I only wish I could have gotten the dessert I wanted, butter creme cake, they were out of it. Otherwise everything was great! I'm looking forward to returning for dinner soon.
It was an Amazing experience with Awesome tasting food. The lobster bisque and prime steak were the best. The service was outstanding the whole night. The atmosphere was quite with great music from the Frank Sinatra era. Make your reservations today.
Everything was great but service was a bit disjointed from taking a while to take a drink order to taking plates away during our courses. I also suggest providing a steak knife for the wedge salad. It’s neither easy or as formal with a regular table knife. Otherwise highly recommend. Have been there 3 times in the past two weeks during my business travel
Great place for business dinners, I make sure to dine at TTC whenever I’m in Richmond.
Nice to have the Richmond tradition open again. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
The food was wonderful but the noise level was unacceptable. We were in a small room with a table for 6 but the music from the jazz band downstairs made it nearly impossible to talk when they were playing. Naturally the sound carries up three floors and we were seated on the second floor. The food was good as was the service but not a relaxing atmosphere for conversation.
While visiting Richmond we enjoyed our 1st experience so much,we went back the next night. Both crab cakes and company chicken were excellent and the lemon sorbet and butter crake were to die for. Excellent waiters Greg and Keith, looking forward to visiting again
This is one of my favorite restaurants! The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is outstanding! The historical building and the antique decor make for a perfect background. Highly recommended!
The service was not great. Our waiter seemed to be too busy for us and it was just not a great experience. Excepted so much more for the cost. And the prime rib was pushed as the specialty and nowhere near as good as the filet.
Visited on a Friday night. Seated on second floor which was much quieter than first floor. Tried the poki appetizer, sea bass special, and scallops, all of which were excellent as was the service. Will recommend to others
Awesome, awesome, awesome. It was real surprise in Richmond for such a fashionable restaurant with a modern feel with a fixed-up-warehouse look of brick, wood and wrought iron. It was a bit noisy in the lower level where the bar is but we were on the second floor and we weren't majorly distracted. Once we had our drinks and relaxed, we didn't even notice. We sat at table for two right on the railing overlooking the first floor and it was very attractive. Our waiter, Austin L, was terrific, quick, attentive, and totally enjoyable. A very interesting young man that treated us like we were his only table. We asked for Creme Brulee but they don't have that on the menu. But, Austin directed us to the Cheese Pie, which may be our new favorite dessert. We'll have to find the recipe and have our Country Club offer it. Yummy. We totally enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner at Tobacco Company, and will tell our friends.
Loved the food, the service, and the ambience. Will definitely go back!
It was our first visit to the restaurant since it was renovated after the fire. The restaurant is beautiful and the chef still has the gourmet touch. Our anniversary dinner was wonderful and the wait staff was attentive and outstanding.
I enjoyed the Tobacco Company Restaurant beginning soon after its opening in the late 70s and over the intervening years. My wife and I dined there Sunday evening for our first time since the restoration. What to expect? Simply put, we were not disappointed in any aspect of our evening out. The decor was always remarkable but the updated furniture and wall hangings are even more stylish and comfortable. We rode the period elevator to the second floor, were greeted promptly, and escorted to a table for two overlooking the atrium. Our server Nick was enjoyable, informative, and attentive, without hovering. Our appetizers were a very fresh and tasty Hawaiian poke and large, luscious coconut shrimp. We both enjoyed the generous amounts of meat in the she-crab soup. Entrees were tasty crab cakes with truffle fries and succulent sautéd scallops over risotto with leeks. We shared a wonderful slice of key lime pie to complete our meal. Wines and water were replenished in timely fashion and without fanfare. To summarize, the environs are a joy to behold and added mightily to the dining experience. We were well satisfied and certainly will return.
The experience couldn’t have been nicer. Our server was kind and professional. It was a great evening out. The food was delicious.
This place doesn’t fail. We had the filet and ribeye which were super tasty! We’ll be back..
Service was spectacular; Chris was very attentive. Atmosphere, including the 8-piece band, was as always, wonderful. Food was good but seemed to be lacking the "excellent" from the past. Brussels Sprouts were missing the menu description of walnuts. Filet mignon appeared not be be a filet but a nice steak and while good, was not a filet.
Overall, still a great place. Maybe just check-up on the food side.
I took my wife to this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. It was our first time there, and it was OUTSTANDING! It is a great atmosphere, and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, the house salad, she crab soup, steaks and the scallops. All were very well done! We topped it off with the chocolate tort which was the best ever. I have been to many very good restaurants, many while living in Northern Virginia/DC area. This restaurant made the top five list for me, and is the best we have tried in the Richmond area. You will not be disappointed with The Tobacco Company.
Excellent! Our server gave us a history of the area and restaurant--very interesting! He was tremendous! Great food! We will be back!
The rolls were like out of a package, we had to send back the mahi mahi, and the steak had too much, over powering sauce. Too expensive for what we had. Two subpar dinners and no cocktails was over $110.
Gorgeous building. VERY loud; difficult to have a conversation, unless you are FAR away from the bar, or in one of the segregated rooms. Fried green tomatoes are sublime, as is the butternut squash. Cauliflower steak was not a steak, but large flowerets, which were undercooked and had no flavor. The Mediterranean salad was really tasty.
Everything was perfect, friendly, delicious, and our waitress gave us an excellent suggestion for wine! Food was spectacular. Extremely pleasurable experience.
Celebrating a college graduation
I had not been in over 30 years and was excited to go again. We had drinks in the bar downstairs and then ate upstairs where we found the food service and value to all be excellent. Great option if staying downtown Richmond!
We went for a Bachelorette weekend dinner. It was 7 of us and it went really well. The place iteself is beautiful. I didn't request this but they put us in a little room that felt so exclusive! The manager, Hunter also gave us a bottle of prosecco since we were celebrating and comp'ed us into the club downstairs. It was a wonderful time and delicious meal! Worth every penny.
Loved the decor of the building. Calamari was cooked perfectly. Service unfortunately was just mediocre
Loved everything about this restaurant! We will absolutely be back. The food was delcious, the drinks were great, and the service was awesome! Loved the vibe of the restaurant.
Perfect evening with family visiting from out of town . Great Richmond experience with knowledgeable and attentive waiter , David . Guests were impressed with the history , decor , and food was delicious. Glad the TC has re opened !
Great to see the interior after the fire, it seemed everything was the same, atmosphere was great, food, service outstanding.
So great to have The Tobacco Company open again! The food was excellent, as always, the drinks very flavorful, and the restaurant is still beautiful. Some minor quibbles: first, in an almost completely empty dining room, why seat everyone on top of each other? You could have put us one table away and we would have had room to pull out our chairs and at least not hear everything the other table was discussing (then the same was repeated with the next two tables to sit down--spread us out a little bit please). Second, server didn't go over specials. We later heard them after we ordered from the server at the next table--I would have gotten the sirloin, it sounded amazing. Overall, though, we really enjoyed being able to return to this RVA treasure and can't wait for a return visit.
Fantastic birthday dinner for my parent. Great food and a super waiter Keith!! Can’t wait to return.
Great service! The food is very good. I will definitely try to get back.
