Portions were a bit small for the cost but beautiful location, ambiance, and great service.
Scallop entree simply awesome!
We were very disappointed in our meal. The tuna was coated in breading which I cannot imagine a trained chef choosing for fresh fish, especially tuna. The waitress seemed to be at the end of her rope and kept making personal comments about what we were ordering. She looked worn out and ready to walk out. We were hesitant to eat at a large resort restaurant and regretted choosing convenience, over driving a bit and getting quality food in town. This resort's biggest problem seems to be finding proper employees to do the jobs needed.
Signature cocktails by Tommy delicious; dinner divine; our server Sarah was very personable and attended to every detail. Highly recommend any season of the year.
We choose Cliff House to celebrate our 35 Anniversary. We had bright sunshine for a while and then a storm rolled in and quickly treated us to a beautiful rainbow. We felt like we couldn't have had a better place to view God's creation. The service was prompt and very knowledgeable. We started with lobster corn chowder and a wedge salad. Both were great. Our beef dishes were fabulous and cooked just how we asked. I have been raving about our evening to all my friends and patients. You won't be disappointed if you decide to choose Cliff House for your next getaway destination.
Excellent service , food and view! Sara was our server and she’s was amazing . Very attentive and friendly . Food was very good . We will be back :)
Birthday lunch- great service and wonderful food.
Beautiful day- a stroll out by the cliffs and some wonderful photos.
If the service was better I may have ranked it higher. I made a reservation in advance and requested a window seat. They didn’t accommodate. Waitress clearly wanted to be doing anything other than wait tables. The music was loud and the food a bit overpriced for what you are getting.
The Cliff House is amazing, the most lovely location to have a special celebration. The views are breathtaking and the grounds are special. We enjoyed a family 60th birthday dinner and is was memorable. The server was lovely and tried hard to please but seevice was slow. Reviews were accurate in that area but the manager was more than helpful when she recognized a delay. We will return without hesitation and actually hope to stay overnight, it was just something to see and we will remember our special night there forever.
The food was incredible and the location was breathtaking!!!
View is spectacular. Food quality was ok- fish sandwich was very salty. Service was ok- young woman nice enough, but not very well trained. Left water glasses empty on table after we said we didn’t need water. Seafood Cobb salad was large, but overall bland. Had to ask for rolls and got one semi hard stale roll. Gave us check as we finished and never asked if we wanted dessert. Young woman was polite and nice, but just hadn’t been well trained. Restaurant was not busy. Room and view is amazing.
Children everywhere. My wife’s dinner took 15 longer to come than mine. But we liked our nice waiter.
I was a little apprehensive about coming here due to the reviews about poor service here. Our experience was great - server was young but very attentive. We both had the Black Cod over forbidden rice - a special item for the night - was outstanding. Had the blueberry cheesecake for dessert - very good, but still a little frozen. The view here is incredible - probably best in southern ME. I would definitely go back again.
Our overall experience was great. We initially were seated at a table far from the window with the beautiful view of the water, so we asked to switch tables. The hostesses were accommodating. The difference between a table by the window and a table in the back is exponential. We enjoyed ourselves at this restaurant more because of the water view and bottle of wine than the food. The rare tuna was divine and fresh but came with flavorless bok choy and cold wild rice. Needed soy sauce. The lobster fried rice was clearly made hours before it was served to us and was barely heated back up. The corn dish was the highlight. Our waitress forgot to bring the bread to us when we asked for it so when it arrived it was cold. Food was good enough and views outstanding so I would recommend eating here to those reasons. But I hope the chef sees this because with some tweaks this restaurant could go from convienent hotel restaurant in gorgoeus resort to exquisite restaurant food experience.
We felt like we were on a cruise ship. The view from the restaurant was spectacular. I loved the menu and the food was so so so yummy. Our waiter was a wealth of knowledge and so sweet. We had such a delightful lunch. We could have sat there all day.
We were on vacation. Food was “just good” for a total bill of $215. Otherwise, beautifully decorated, service was better than good.
Great view of the Ocean from almost every table. Selection is good, but could be more geared to more seafood selections. Service was great. The bench seat at the table we had was a bit high and my feet did not touch the floor making it a bit awkward - my shoes fell off. Overall dinner was a nice experience.
The restaurant sits on the waterfront and makes for a stunning view. The food is good, but the view is definitely better. They really don’t skimp with the lobster in any dish that has lobster, which is a plus! The service was decent, but nothing remarkable.
The atmosphere is wonderful and wait staff is very good and accommodating - the food left much to be desired. Two of us had ordered the scallops served on lobster rice with a lemon aioli, which sounds delicious. The lobster was NOT fresh and the rice was cold and had the consistency of wall paper paste. The scallops would have been tasty but were not thoroughly cleaned so we would experience bits of sand or shell after every few bites. When I had checked in earlier in the day I was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. I informed the hostess that it was my husband’s 72nd birthday and she told me she would make a note of it in the reservation. There was no acknowledgement and when I checked with the hostess at the end of the meal, she explained that it was an oversight. My husband ordered shrimp and it was not cooked thoroughly. We were with our daughter and our two granddaughters so we didn’t want to spoil the night by complaining and returning our meals. We dined at That Place a few nights earlier and the food was fantastic and priced much better. We were very disappointed in the Tiller Restaurant and have decided that we will not return.
Delicious! They helped us to celebrate our 20th anniversary in style!
Dinner menu is delicious.
We came after a matinee at the Ogunquit Playhouse....wonderful meal and experience after a most enjoyable play.
The view of the ocean was incredible, and from any table at the place including the bar. Not a bad seat in the place. I ordered the scallops which were huge, moist and delicious. Wait staff was experienced and attentive.
My friend and I brought his son here for a second Birthday meal. 22 years old young. Anyway, it was clear that the waitress was not familiar with English as a first language. After perusing the menu, my friend asked, how about a plain old BLT? After all, there was bread, bacon and lettuce on the menu. And what chef turns down a customer, right? Well this waitress promptly told us after being quizzed, she was from Montenegro, and told us, no BLT. She made my friend choose something else, a crab sandwich, which he did. Ten minutes went by, then my lobster chowder, which was my entire mea , appeared. Nothing else. So I asked the waitress, where are the other meals, to which she said, they are not ready; so I said put mine in the oven till all the meals come out. Ten minutes go by again. And three meals appear, but no crab sandwich, rather, aha, a BLT!
And this after my friend decided you know, here we are in Ogunquit, I will have a crab sandwich instead of my BLT. When the waitress put down his BLT in front of my friend, she said, here is your BLT. No crab he asked? She looked slightly bemused and disappeared, instead of saying, I am sorry, you really want the crab sandwich?
All over New England this time off year, seasonal places like the Cliff House hire foreign staff to meet demand. From Maine to Nantucket. It is not a good idea. The food at the Cliff House was good, but I will never go back.
The place was wonderful, great view, the food was excellent but the service was horrendous. The waitress was apparently used to serving for banquets (they appeared short staffed - even though the place wasn’t full - it was doing a brisk business.) Out of 6 of us - one meal came after about 20 minutes. The rest waited close to 1/2 hour more to get their food (almost a full hour.) Drinks took even longer to get and we were without even water for the table for yet another 30 mins. When we did get our food it was excellent - except for tuna that one in the party had which was just meh. Day scallops and lobster fried rice was good; strip steak was cooked perfectly; good burger & the truffle fries were delicious as was the cod (deconstructed clam chowder.)
The manager came and apologized for the service and comp’ed our second round of drinks - which was a nice gesture. Any other day I’m sure the place is great.
I thought our server needed more knowledge of the menu
The bar was very limited in certain selections...ie no lemoncello or 20 year old tawny port
When the food was brought to the table they did not get one meal right as to who ordered what..even at the end they had a 50/50 chance and got it wrong
Great view !!!!!....had the best table in the house
We were seated at a table facing the ocean and the view was fabulous. Unique cocktails and decent wine list. Our meals were presented beautifully - scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious and the cod was succulent and very tasty. We opted for a side of the street corn and it was fantastic. Instead of dessert we opted for the Jubilee -- a blend of maraschino liquor, lemon and sparkling wine. Fantastic! Our only disappointment was that we were seated for at least 15 minutes and had to ask for our server to be sent over. Once she arrived, everything went smoothly. She was attentive and very pleasant. Finally, because it was a resort there were families, some with several young children, dining at the same time. It did not pose a problem for us, but we thought other diners might want to know.
Really excellent food. Killer views. Lovely setting. A most enjoyable experience. First time visitor. Will return frequently.
this is a real gem. the views are great of the ocean, the food was spectacular, the service
is wonderful, located in the Cliff House Resort which is just amazing.
Service was exceptionally poor and the food wasn’t much better. Unfortunately the soup was the best part of the meal. The server was inattentive and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. Plates sat stacked up on the table and wouldn’t be removed unless we said something. When speaking to the manager it was nothing but excuses. She stated it is a “family restaurant” not fine dining (entrees are in the $35+ range), I wasn’t aware family restaurants don’t have good service? She continued on to say it was new staff and they were fully booked etc etc. Wanted us to come back on the restaurant we declined. The tuna loin I had was flavorless and didn’t look all that appealing. Check out the restaurant for breakfast if you are staying at Cliff House otherwise Tiller is a pass.
Our server was good as was the food. The hostess stand could use some work... we weren’t seated until 8.45ish when our reservation was for 8.15. He kept saying we were waiting on a window seat, even thought we didn’t request a window seat and there were lots of open tables. Our server was good but the bussing of the tables, cleaning around tables, repleahment of water and utensils, etc was not good. The food was good but not good enough that I would have to go back. Overall it was good, not great.
We went to The Tiller for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It has a beautiful view. The food was excellent and came out in a timely manner. The server was adequate—it appeared as if she was new to the job. I would recommend The Tiller to a friend and would return if I were in the area again.
View is awesome, food is great, service is slow...
We had an early reservation and the rug underneath the table was full of crumbs and other dirt. The view was great and the waitress was very friendly and efficient. Why they wear jeans is my question. It is such a fancy and upper class restaurant and, we think, black pants or just nice pants would look better. I would never eat at a restaurant like that with jeans on!
The food was good but small quantity and overpriced.
I think that was our first and last time to eat there.
One of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had. I made reservations asking for a window seat as it was our anniversary but when we got there, were seated as far away from that as possible. When I asked about the window seats the hostess said they were all designated. I did not expect or appreciate the bench seating as my feet did not touch the floor. All the time staring at the EMPTY tables by the windows. Very very disappointed as we have waited years to dine at the Cliff House.
The views are amazing and the waiters are warm and friendly. You will love your dining experience
We went to Cliff House for our honeymoon and the first night we stayed we went to Tiller House. The view was beautiful! Food was good, a little pricey but that was expected. Service was great! Although the food was delicious we both didn’t feel well later that night. We shared Lobster fried rice. I had lobster chowder as well. My fiancé had the tuna steaks.
Really awesome spot! Friendly bartenders who know how to craft a cocktail, excellent food and service all around. The view is absolutely unbeatable, not a bad seat in the house.
Breathtaking views. Get the Lobster Chowder and Strip Steak. Amazing....
