The Tiller Restaurant at Cliff House
We had a lovely time at the Cliff House. The food was exquisite, the service was stellar and views were breathtaking.
Our waitress Kayla was excellent and very informative!
Beautiful setting, delicious food. Reservations don’t actually get you precedence for seating, which was disappointing.
You just can't beat the atmosphere at this place. You don't have to sit by the window to enjoy a fabulous view of the ocean. We went for Sunday breakfast and both of us had Eggs Benedict and shared a fruit dish. The food was good, but not outstanding, so you are basically paying for the ambience, which, I must say, makes it worth it.
My boyfriend and I went to The Tiller Restaurant for our anniversary dinner on our trip to Maine and it was fantastic! The cocktails were tasty and strong. My boyfriend had the scallops with lobster fried rice and he loved it. I had the strip and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Our waitress, Susan, made our night very special when we ordered the ice cream sandwich with blueberry ice cream (amazing!!) and lit a candle on top. Besides the delicious food, the view of the cliff was incredible. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town!
Overall it was a lovely experience. We had a perfect seat facing the ocean. I had asked if there was an alternative salad dressing and was told "no, only what is on the menu, no variations". I was a little taken aback by that response, thought it unfortunate and made a second choice. Our bill, with tip was approximately $80. That included french toast, waffles with lobster, sangria & a cocktail from the menu. I thought that was pricey for two people at brunch. The hostess was warm, welcoming and delightful. The waiter very business like, not very friendly.
Food was cold and overpriced. Wine served warm and ran out , only one glass was available. Very loud party there , hard to have a conversation.
This is just one of those great places where the food isn’t the primary reason for going there. The views are just spectacular.
This is a beautiful space with a spectacular view and outstanding food to match -- a rare combination.
Wonderful food and ambiance. Our server, Brigetta was warm and welcoming. She made our 30th Anniversary extra special. Will definitely go back again.
I would certainly recommend the Cliff House and Tiller to friends. The view is spectacular, the ambiance is relaxed and the service is overall very good. The food, for the price, was a little underwhelming. The ingredients were fresh, but more could have been done to enhance the flavor. The first night both of our dishes arrived and were cool (temperature wise), we commented and the waitress was fully understanding and promptly returned the dishes to the kitchen and the plates were remade. This was appreciated. However, the steak was not that flavorful and the gnocchi was a bit dense, rather than light and fluffy. We returned the next day for lunch, which was fabulous. The lobster bisque included beautiful lush pieces of lobster. The burger was good. For dinner the second night, we had the lamb special and the salmon and again, while fresh ingredients, the dishes themselves were okay in terms of flavor and preparation. All this said, we would still return and recommend staying at the Cliff House because it is a special place.
Wonderful meal while staying at the Cliff House. Staff was kind and attentive without being overbearing. Made the meal special for the family. Food was tasty and view made the day great.
Beautiful location, well decorated space. Was expecting better quality of food based on price. Overall lovely breakfast if you don't mind spending $80 on breakfast for 2.
Our server Bergette (sp?) was amazing, the food was very good and the view spectacular!
Laura and Paul
My son went there with his wife for his 50th Birthday. He had a table by the window. The view was spectacular. Good food, great service, and reasonable prices.
Delicious brunch! We will definitely return!
This place is simply fabulous don’t waste anymore time reading reviews just book your stay… I live 45 minutes away and thought I was in another part of the country can’t wait to go back !
Worth every penny!
the restaurant is tucked inside a beautiful resort... it was so worth it! water views, excellent food and great service. prices reflect a resort restaurant, but not terrible if you're willing to spend a little more than usual for a brunch. bf and i had the banana bread french toast & the lobster & waffles - highly recommend. a really lovely afternoon in all
I love this place, it is breathtaking! I was bummed when I visited the other day because I had first made an open table reservation, received the confirmation email but when I had called to make sure and request oceanfront seating, the waitress said they never received it. So on the phone I made another reservation requesting oceanfront, it was a special occasion, and when we got there they said they did not have it! After telling them that I had now made two reservations, the hostess was not able to reciprocate my frustrations, with the reservation service. I have been to Tillers before and the gentleman that served us for brunch was amazing and had great service. This time not so fortunate, the waitress was slow on everything from first cup of coffee to cocktails, to refill coffee and water. I would still highly recommend going as the food and the overall experience of being there is divine. Just felt bad that the first time I brought people that the service was not as great in the past and that we waited longer than usual.
Waitress and chef were not attentive to a restricted diet order at our dinner. Other meals and waitresses were fine.
Even though we didn't get to sit by the window, the view is still exceptional. Beautiful place, excellent food (we were there for brunch) with a nice farm-to-table perspective, excellent service and very comfortable seating. We shall return! (Check out the spa, too. It's terrific.)
We had a good meal in a beautiful setting with a terrific waitress.
We celebrated our birthday's at the Tiller Restaurant at the Cliff House in Maine, and it was perfect!
We had requested a window table with a view of the ocean, and the hostess was able to provide that for us. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our meals immensely. I had the scallops dinner, and my husband had the Hanger Steak dinner. Both were delicious and the portions were great! It was a very enjoyable dining experience, and we were both treated to our own choice of birthday desserts! It was a great night!
Menu items were not consistent with descriptions. The food tasted ok but was not worth 45 per person.
Lovely restaurant for a special dinner. Charcuterie board is a must to enjoy! Wished that we had skipped the organic baby romaine salad as it had no taste ( should have been garlic confit-lemon dressing). We had the strip steak that was unbelievable! ( no foraged mushrooms on the plate as described on the menu though) and the day boat scallop dinner that was almost inedible as the scallops were over seasoned with salt. The spiced honey cauliflower was wonderful as well as the truffle fries. To finish, we had the lemon/blueberry cheesecake- we were glad that we decided on dessert as it would have been a sin to miss this treat.
Everything was fabulous! From the food down to the server - and you cannot beat the view!
The food was excellent. Our waitress, Susan Wass wonderful. We had a very enjoyable evening.
Great experience! We sat right by the window overlooking the cliffs that were beautiful. Great food!
The Tiller Restaurant is a wonderful dining experience. This was my second time there amd highly recommend it. I look forward to my next visit!
Very pretty decor
Food delicious and interesting
The hotel needs to heat the dining room and other open spaces or people could freeze to death.. ok that’s a little exaggeration but they have several fireplaces in the hotel and dining room and most of the time for 3 days we were there one or two or all were never lit
Our waitress was a touch strange but I can overlook that.. haha!
The food is good. Service is impeccable. But of course it's all about the view!
We had lunch on this beautiful sunny winter day in Maine. Had a table right by the windows and enjoyed watching the waves hit the rocky coast. Our cocktails were perfect. Our meals were OK.
Two things I'd like to bring to the restaurants attention. When I booked this reservation I specifically asked for a table by the windows. When we arrived we were escorted to a table no where near the windows. We then stood around waiting for a table to be cleared and setup. So, I'm assuming that someone is not reading the requests made in OpenTable reservations.
Also, we asked to split the lobster chowder as a starter. The waiter informed us that the Chef does not split the chowder. So, we had to push the bowl back and forth as we ate. Someone needs to tell the Chef 'it is all about the customer and all reasonable requests ought to be satisfied.'
Anyway, we will return but maybe just to enjoy a cocktail at the bar and the wonderful view.
Great atmosphere and location food wasn’t up to par with pricing and overall feel of business. Good menu but the quality wasn’t there.
WOW...this is a wonderful restaurant with the most amazing view. Great food, service and ambience. Not to be missed if you are visiting the coast of Maine.
Absoulutely spectacular views, good food, good service.
The service and ambiance was really wonderful. Wine options were great as well. We did expect to be blown away by the food and just weren't except for the meatballs, those were delicious! Everything else including butternut squash soup, the hanger steak and the scallops were just ok, not overly flavorful or something we would have again.
Loved it! Can’t wait to go back!
Everything was delicious!!!
