The Thracian Mediterranean Grill
Absolutely fantastic food, can't believe I haven't been here until now. Chef does an amazing job, very fresh, high quality ingredients at a very affordable price. Outside and inside seating provide options, can be a bit noisy outside due to proximity to main road, yet still a pleasant environment overall. We had an appetizer platter (very generous in size), beef and lamb kebabs, and Armenian salad with gyro meat. Shared three desserts, and most notable was the baklava cheesecake, an absolute delight. A wonderful experience, can't wait to go back.
Not a huge menu (maybe due to Covid?), but everything we tried was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!!
One of the best meals ever! Best choice is to take the chef’s suggestion - he knows what he’s doing! And I recommend the Greek red wine for an authentic experience A wonderful place for a special, relaxed, and excellent meal❤️🧡💛
The food was excellent. It's a small restaurant and we weren't in a hurry. The service was as expected, personable and fun. We put this restaurant on our top 3 places we like to eat for a casual homey dinner.
The food is very good. Much quieter eating inside than outside. Service very good. The Greek salad with grilled chicken very good as is the chicken kabob. A place to return to.
Great food, great experience!
My husband describes this as “the best Mediterranean food he has ever had”
We started with Baba Gnoush appetizer. WOW!
He had the gyro platter and I had the lamb shish kabob. Both were very good.
The owner came out of the kitchen and spoke with the people at each table. He is very friendly and takes a lot of pride in the quality of his food.
This is a small place on a busy street so it may not be for everyone but we will definitely return when we visit the area again. They also have some patio seating.
Give this spot in Venice a try! Excellent service and it was nice to meet the very friendly owner, Dylan. Calamari appetizer was delicious! So was the spanakopita and gyro pita. We’ll be back!
The food is tasty and plentiful. I had the gyro platter which is a deconstructed gyro sandwich. My husband had the lamb shish-ka-bob. We each had a drink. The prices are reasonable, the service is good. We felt safe eating there as the tables were spaced well and there were few diners. The restaurant does do a steady carry-out business which speaks well for it's following. This is a good local choice for Greed food.
The food is to die for! They make everything to order and use fresh ingredients. Definitely recommend dining here.
Very nice setting and the service was outstanding.
Fabulous restaurant! We are never disappointed it is one of our favorite Mediterranean restaurants. A true gem in Nokomis, the owner is wonderful and very charismatic!! You will not be disappointed!
Waitress was less than satisfactory. She had very few skills in meeting and greeting patrons and unfortunately was tasked to train a new hire.
We all felt concern for the new hire and her opportunity to learn how to meet and greet and serve patrons.
Food was good. Hummus was not..very soupy. Greek salad very good.
Great food, great owner! The Armenian salad with extra gyro meat is superb.
Our waitress was the worst! We felt like she was aggravated that we were there! So uncomfortable! The lights dimmed on and off and the decor seemed dingy. Too bad because the food seemed to have potential. Will not return!
This was the second time we ate here. We enjoyed the shish kebabs both times, served with couscous and yummy vegetables. We were served good strong coffee during our first visit, but were told on our 2nd visit that there was no coffee. Our server was kind of abrupt about this, and we found it confusing. Dylan treated us in a very polite and personable manner, and we missed his attention when we went a couple of nights ago. Anyway, the food is good, and we will probably return!
Waitress ignored us and another tables request for lemons for lousy tasting water.
So we each got a can of Diet Coke which cost $3.00 a can then asked for straws and told they don’t any.
Wife got pasticisio and she said it was dry as dust.
And we don’t plan to return there.
We were a party of 5. Four of us had the kebabs - lamb for some, chicken for others. While the lamb was more well-done than requested, it was exceptionally tender and tasty. The chicken was very well done. One member has the gyro and found it somewhat dry and not very tender. The sides were fine but the amount of cous cous was rather small. It is not an expensive side and a larger portion would appropriate. In all it was a reasonable meal for a very reasonable price. The decor is simple and the night we were there the staff seemed somewhat rushed. Two waitresses taking orders, serving and bussing. This is a full house. More staff would be helpful.
Excellent food and service. We’ll defenantly go Bach again.
The service was slow & not friendly. The owner was just rude! I understand it was busy but food was over done, waitress never checked in with us after meal was served & then the owner would not give us extra sauce unless we paid another dollar. He then chided us for wanting something for nothing & then questioned if we worked. Then asked if we had ever owned a restaurant! Unbelievable!!
Had a fantastic dinner at this small family run restaurant. The outstanding, caring service was only exceeded by the quality of the meal. The food was delicious and the presentation first class.
Restaurant was uncomfortably cold.
The food is very good. The Decor with white cloth table linens and fresh flowers on every table is a nice touch and a sign that the owner is detailed. His walk throughout the dining room is also very nice making sure every customer is pleased. More than likely he probably rents the building and parking lot which is in need of repairs and a fresher look. That could be a deterrent to some. I would recommend this restaurant for the food.
Very nice local restaurant. Friendly staff with good food.. Would definitely go back again.
We enjoy Meditteranean/Greek dishes very much and all over the USA. The food choices and preparation were as good or better than any other MG that we've had on the Suncoast. It's a family operation and the service was outstanding even though every table was occupied. Look forward to returning.
The food was very tasty, especially kebab, the service was quick and very friendly
Love that we finally have a good quality restaurant in Venice with GreekMediterranean food. The gyros are excellent as is the pita bread. Friends enjoyed the stuffed red peppers as an appetizer and we loved our baba ganoush. Wish we could comment on more items, but we had the same meal our second time there as we did the first. Liked everything so much we ordered it again. Will try something different next time. Be sure and talk to the owner if you have time. He's a hoot!
