The Tea House on Los Rios
It wasn’t our cup of tea, the service was amazing, the food was delicious but why I won’t be returning is the gawking from the other customers. I wasn’t aware it was dress your Sunday best. We had toured the mission and thought lunch at Los Rios would be fit. My son was uncomfortable because we were being stared at, at both ends behind us and in front of us. Thought the staff were amazing their customers made it clear that we’re not welcomed and so I won’t be returning. Thanks for the experience
My daughters 24th Birthday.
Was my 89 year old mom’s birthday and I know how she enjoys a chance to go there. We sat outside on the pavilion and it was just a perfect California fall afternoon. Not too hot or cold and no wind. Couldn’t have been a more perfect day for her!
Fun time with my family! Tea is excellent! Scones are amazing! Great vibes and spot for conversation and special moments!
Wonderful in every aspect!
We really had a great time. Our waitress was wonderful and made our day. We celebrated our friend’s birthday and it was a perfect setting. We sat in the back room and with us and other talkative group the noise level was pretty high. All else was wonderful.
They have the most delicious scones in the world! It’s a must try!!
We had a really nice time celebrating birthdays! The food was yummy, the service was so professional and friendly. The only issue we had wasn’t their fault... the parking in the area was over filled because of a harvest carnival happening the weekend before Halloween.
Love the Tea House!! Have been there many times with family and friends.
The scones were great. The food tasted good but wasn’t plentiful enough.
Spent a lovely afternoon over "High Tea" with an old friend. So nice to have tea made with loose tea and not tea bags. Quaint setting.
The sandwiches were not good at all, but the scone was delicious. Very over priced.
If you're looking for a magical tea house that knows how to treat a girl right on her birthday, this place is it. My daughter had the best 16th birthday tea party! Wonderful staff, beautiful setting and delicious food. I was overjoyed with my daughter's experience! I can't wait to come for Victorian tea with my friends!
Been coming here for years. Hands down the best tea house in Orange County. Service, ambiance, good and tea are always exceptional!
Lovely time. No one rushed us as my friend and I caught up.
Everything about our visit was just perfect. We had not been there for a long time and it was even better than we remembered. All the staff were pleasant as well as efficient and the choices of exotic teas was mind boggling! The best part were their own freshly baked scones ..... absolutely delicious.
We wanted to have the high tea experience and this didn't disappoint. There are several levels to choose from and we choose the mid-range Los Rios Tea for about $24 per person. I'm glad we didn't get more--couldn't have eaten another bite. It started with a huge heart shaped scone with raspberry jam and cream, and a personal pot of tea. Then a plate of delicious finger sandwiches and fresh fruit served with cream and brown sugar. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the presentation and outdoor ambience both very lovely. They were even able to serve one order gluten free for a small extra charge. The whole experience was absolutely delightful from start to finish and would not hesitate to go again.
This is our absolute favorite place for a get together with friends or our traditional family holiday teas. It’s worth the drive for us to go to this very special restaurant. We HIGHLY recommend The Teahouse On Los Rios.
The atmosphere, as always, was lovely. The scones are superb and the tea even more so. We had the Harvest Tea, which was very good, but I did think it was a bit over priced. No matter, it was a lovely and delicious way to spend the afternoon.
This place is so worth going to. It’s my favorite tea house. The food is delicious and it is fairly priced. The tea service sounds like a small amount of food, but it fills you up. Also if you don’t finish your pot of tea you can ask for it in a hot to go cup.
Fantastic place for tea! Great atmosphere and ambiance. Food was really good and very filling. I will definitely go again.
Such a special little place! Very quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. Service was top notch, salad and fruit were super fresh, and the decor is just lovely. Definitely a "special occasion" type place because it was a little pricey, but worth every penny.
I just love this place. Every time I go, it's wonderful!
Teas were delicious, food was outstanding, service was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. Would definitely return, especially to try the brunch menu.
Our server was amazing!!!!!
Our waitress Cindy was the best waitress I've ever had anywhere! They have hats you can choose to wear and feel extra English! Our food was amazing, a really good selection. We tried all the teas we wanted to and had such a great time. Only thing I wish was different was having tea included in the entree. Over all I would definitely recommend this place for a girls day Thank you so much Cindy!!!
Lovely tea! Only problem was the very loud girl party in the next room! Food was delicious, service was fantastic!
Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food.
I went with my daughter for the first time and we were very happy with pretty the surrounding and the delicious black currant jam and sconce and the tea sandwiches. There is plenty of parking space on site and is close to the public parking structure as well, just cross the train tracks.
The Tea House is a wonderful place to go for many reasons, and not just for amazing food, outstanding service, and the beautiful ambiance of an old home with porches and rooms welcoming a places to dine and views of Old Town Los Rios. But also, to me, it captures a feeling of yesteryear where life slows to enjoy the ritual of Tea, food, and conversation with friends in a place reminesiant of years gone by. Even when you go home the feeling of joy and happiness lingers. It is a happy experience on many levels, and a place one will keep going to, I promise!
The Tea House was even better than what I expected! It was everything and more, the ambience and sweet location on a small narrow street, with other tiny houses and a couple of shops, the flowers and mature foliage added to a sense of going back in time! Inside members of the staff greeting you as if they've known you; our reservation was for 11 on a Sunday, we were shown the ‘music room’ , decorated appropriately with antiques of another time..... Keep in mind this in a small home like venue, but it never felt crowded, it’s laid out so well. We were a party of two, in the room next to us there was a birthday party os 8, having a great time!
We had the Farm House Scramble, absolutely perfect! Proportions perfectly sized, bacon and fruit, perfect! Totally recommend! Freshly backed crumpet and scone! Order the luscious bread pudding to go and a sample of the salsa served with the eggs! Just a wonderful experience overall! Our server, apologize, started with a V, she was perfect, knew ALL the teas, spot on with her recommendations, after knowing what we wanted! I’m from Northern California, but will be on my bucket list to return!!!
Dry over baked scones and the cream served with them not a clotted cream. Everything brought
On one plate which made in very difficult to cut open scone and the table was so crowded that
You could not fit extra plates. Trifle dessert very runny and had alcohol in it which was not mentioned
When ordered. Great reviews on yelp which is why this place was chose. Very disappointed.
It's such a wonderful setting to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch. Service is perfectly good and food is very tasty.
Our server Rachel was phenominal and the location was fantastic. Cant wait to return!
Wonderful place to visit and enjoy a special occasion with a loved one.
My friend and I ordered the chicken curry. The curry was like a thick congealed gravy. It was not hot and the chicken was not tender. We ended up sending it back. weirder vegetable soup instead and it was very good.
Our server was very nice and couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating.
We have Ben to the restaurant many times and have always had a great experience.Hopefully this was just a bad day.
Beautiful service as always. Wonderful for our little girl’s birthday gift.
This is a very charming old house, converted to a tea house. Nice ambiance, tho a little crowded especially near the welcome desk. The welcome staff and the wait staff are wonderful, helpful. We arrived early, but were seated fairly quickly, given the method of seating every 15 minutes or so. A big plus is that their menu offers different levels of high tea to suit your taste and budget. They also offer lunch items that are quite enticing. My wife chose the Cottage Tea, and I chose the Mediteranean Salad, adding grilled Salmon. Both were excellent. Teas are offered, of course, as well as beer and wine. Situated near the SIG train station and old town, the Mission, etc. A great experience in the early afternoon.
I notified on line and the host it was my granddaughters birthdays nothing was done, no happy birthday. I even did their baby showers there, so have been a $$$ patron. Disappointed
The food was delicious. Our server was so helpful and gracious. We loved sitting on the back porch in the cool breeze. Very relaxing. Definitely will come again.
