   My family enjoyed the steak and burgers. Brownie dessert wasn’t good but we enjoyed our time and service was friendly.

   The best part of dinner at The Tavern was that we we were meeting our granddaughter, who is a PSU student. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar as we waited for her. We did not find the bartender very friendly. We were seated at an outside table which was very nice, but we seemed to be an afterthought due to our outside location. My soup was good; my husband's burger was fine but not overly delicious; our granddaughter's salad with steak was ok--she ate the steak and did not finish most of the salad. For the price, I did not think anything was exceptional: food, service, restaurant. We would not go there again.

   The food was good, but the service was shockingly bad. I would still recommend the restaurant - but keep in mind that the restaurant is staffed by college kids just trying to make a few bucks... NOT by skilled or well trained service professionals. Had to ask for the same items repeatedly - used appetizer plates were left on the table for almost the entirety of the meal, even after asking for them to be removed, asked for bottled water but glasses of tap were just left on the table, silverware never exchanged despite multiple appetizers, salad, and entres, asked US when we thought the entres should be ordered with the kitchen (because we said that we didn't want all of our food at once), etc.. Non-attentive service reminiscent of a road side "greasy spoon" diner. Felt like we were inconveniencing our server.

    My daughter and I had an exhausting day touring Penn State. We had an early dinner at The Tavern. The atmosphere was fun, the decor lovely, the food delicious and the staff outstanding!
