Reservations are for the Formal Steakhouse Dining (upstairs), the Cocktail lounge is first-come, first-served.

From hanging glass beads to architectural artifacts and an original Brunswick bar painted in gold and turquoise, this is clearly not your father's steakhouse. The Tavern's menu features USDA prime beef, Australian Wagyu, organically raised Uruguayan beef, and organic free-range chicken, diver-caught Maine sea scallops, assorted fresh fish, cold water Rock Lobster Tails, and in season: oysters from both coasts, the Alaskan king salmon run, live Maryland soft shell crabs, morels, chanterelles, and porcini from hunters in Oregon and Washington, and fresh produce from local county farms. An award-winning wine list featuring over 1,200 selections, a great wine by the glass assortment, and an unusually well-stocked bar round out the Tavern's beverage program.

Been here may time and had great food and service. Not this time.

1) Ordered a 12 year old whiskey, and asked for another, sorry we are out. Nice warning. Could have offered a 15.

2) We all ordered porterhouse, medium rare. Arrived well done. Server did not come back to ask until we decided we had better eat before they got cold.

Love the restaurant. Food and ambiance was great. Wine is pricey for the amount you get. Either offer a more generous pour or lower your prices.

The service was excellent. Our party selected 4 different entrees and each excellent. Nice touch with a candle in one of the desserts since our dinner was a celebration.

My husband and I have been here many times with our parents for Tapas but this time we decided to do a date night and make reservations for upstairs seating. We had a great time and couldn't make a decision about what wine to choose, they sent someone over and explained the differences between them in order to make sure we got what we wanted! It was delicious!

We’ve been to the Tavern before but not in a few years, glad we went back - the food was quite good. Our waitress was excellent, gave us good recommendations and watched the table from a service perspective. One low spot was the bartender downstairs. We had a drink downstairs before heading up to our table and he was quite rude and off putting. Not sure what was up with him but it was a bummer. Back to the dinner, steaks were very good and the horseradish mashed potatoes were tasty.

This steak restaurant is a GEM! My wife and I are not steak eaters, but our boys are... and they devour the steaks!! They have great chicken and seafood options! The service is excellent... we have never gone with this place of choice for a dinner out.... love it.

We have never been disappointed with our experiences at the Tavern. The steaks are absolute perfection. We try to get a spot on Christmas Eve and never call in time! So Christmas Eve eve works for us! Fantastic!

My wife and son dined recently on a Saturday night. My wife enjoyed her Tavern salad. My Wedge salad was good, but underdressed. My wife had the only vegetarian item on the menu which was good, not great. I ordered the fig glazed duck... crispy and nicely flavored. My son had a steak and loved it. The brussel sprout side was underseasoned, a bit of salt (had to ask since it wasn't on the table) fixed it. The Parisian Potatoes (side) were nice. Overall, a good not great, experience.

We have dined here many times over the past 20 years and it has always been excellent. Cocktails, wine list, service, food, wine recommendations, only the best. We ordered the octopus, oysters, prime NY strip, Sirloin with mushrooms , spinach and asparagus. Could not have been better. Heather our server did a very good job. Thank you. Only one small misstep from the kitchen, they forgot the balsamic reduction with the asparagus.

We've been coming here for years and really enjoy it. Tavern is especially nice over the holidays as they decorate the room with pretty angels and lights. Service is excellent. Usually love their food, but this time our steak came out bleeding vs. medium as we requested, but the server apologized and comped our desserts. We still will return as that never happened before.
Of note, the only way to access the restaurant is up a big flight of stairs and has no elevator.

The noise is dependent on who is in the space. Most people at considerate. Last night there was a table conducting a conference call at their table. It's a first that has happened. Normally quite pleasant.
