Cheltenham’s friendly neighbourhood restaurant and bar. A favourite of locals, The Tavern started with a simple mission…to deliver delicious food at reasonable prices. Our mission remains the same.

Driven by our imaginative and passionate Head Chef, James De Jong,the menu is relaxed and comforting, made up of delicious taverna style food from Europe and far beyond. Punchy flavours made with wonderful produce. Dishes include incredible spicy mussels, salt ‘n’ pepper squid with nuoc cham, slow cooked Hereford beef blade, celeriac puree. Let’s not forget the Sticky Toffee Ice-cream Sandwich.

And when you’re finished with food, pull up a chair and grab a tipple allowing the familiar atmosphere of The Tavern to capture your evening, knowing that if you stay late, we’ll play late. Revel in music as we turn down the lights and turn up the volume. You’re in for the night…stay late and we’ll play late.

                                                                                                                                  Good food, great atmosphere etc but yet again let down by poor service - hard work to get drinks and no desert menu offered, staff perhaps disappeared upstairs to listen to the music. Shame they added whopping service charge to the bill!

                                                                                                                                  One of my favourite places in Cheltenham to eat. Always love the French Dip and my friends burger was one of the best I've tasted. Really friendly service, great decor and good quality food, it's all you can ask for in a venue.

                                                                                                                                  We were visiting Cheltenham for the first time and ate at The Tavern as a result of a recommendation. Really enjoyed it. Food was very good, the service friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere in the bar early evening was good.
