The steak salad was 90% lettuce. I would have preferred better cut of meat snd more to the salad . The server Terry was terrific
Family dinner on Sunday night, company good food poor. Great waiter Santiago but the kitchen wasn’t performing. 6 of us total, 3 salads, 2 sandwiches and one entree. 2 salads had ice chips in and around the lettuce. One sandwich was supposed to be warm but very cold, sent back and by the time it arrived my dad wasn’t hungry anymore. We were offered warm chocolate cake with ice cream to make up for it. Arrived cold, was good though. Would have been better if it was warmed. Tavern chips were amazing. Don’t plan to go back!
We had a delicious, delightful dinner. Our waiter was wonderful!
Great place for a quick bite to eat with a late notice
Sadly, the Tavern has really gone downhill. Our food was just fair, at best, and the even the ever-reliable Tavern Chips were mediocre. Won't be headed back until we hear they've got it back on track.
Nice menu. Professional service. Consistently good.
Everything on the menu was great! I would definitely go back, this is going to be one of my regular spots to frequent. Loved it!
The entres were not tasty or appetizing.
I ordered the sea bass and even though it was good I’m pretty sure it wasn’t sea bass. Not sure which white fish it was but being that I cook sea bass quite frequently it wasn’t sea bass. Also, the noise level here is extremely high.
My night with my wife was HORRIBLE! I was sat by the patio door. I requested to be moved to another area away from the patio and was refused. The reason was you guys had reservations but I had made reservations as well! Then it took 45 mins to receive my appetizers, the server got my instructions wrong and the serve wasnt pleased about having to fix the mistake! I waited another 15-20 mins for my waitress to actually visit my table again. Asking "hows everything? You guys doing alright?" I replied, "Actually Id like to ORDER DINNER if thats alright with you?" I ordered a ribeye with fries my wife was too upset to order so she refused to order dinner! The server came about another 20 mins or so later walked passed me and around me looking for the table that had placed the order for the ribeye steak and fries. He then walked back to the kitchen area where the waitress was and I assume she told him the correct table because then he returned with my meal. Shortly after my steak arrived the waitress came with my bill and a carryout for my wife. Since I was afraid there would be another extended wait to pay I asked to pay while the waitress was standing at the table with the bill. Of course she quickly hurried back after processing my card. I tried to eat might meal but I was too upset to finish. I WAS TRULY DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR SERVICE AND LACK OF CARE BY YOUR STAFF!
My food came out cold and a bit dry. I ordered a house salad with ranch & got the salad with no dressing.
Been here several times this was the worst overall. Food was bland and the service was slow.
We waited 30 minutes after our reservation time. The food was mediocre at best.
Loved it !!!
We made reservations for Valentine’s Day. We arrived at 8pm(on time) to be told that we could either sit outside or wait until an inside table came available along with the many people who just walked in off the street with no reservation. Yes I asked them....The rude brunette hostess said it could be over an hour. I was starving so went outside and I froze. Maybe they saw me shivering why they served us warm beer and wine! We live across the street and usually visit The Tavern so I am very disappointed. And I can tell you that no one seemed to care...I was looking for a manager but there were so many people inside I couldn’t make out who was management and who wasn’t. I tried to search for somewhere else for us to dine while outside freezing but of course everything was booked until after 10pm.The worst Valentine’s dining experience ever!
We love the Tavern! I think it was noisier than usual due to the holiday. The service wasn't very good which isn't the norm.
Service/atmosphere was great, food was good, steak was a little tough but tasty.
Food burnt and crowded
Tavern food used to be delicious. Very mediocre at best now.
My reservation included a request for a table by the windows where there are no steps. However, the request was ignored. The fact that one member of the party was in a wheelchair made it impossible for her to be seated in the booth with a step. A manager intervened and we were eventually seated in the area requested. We were there a long time and had get up to ask for menus and service. We eventually ordered 3 salads. After some 30 minutes, we had to inquire whether our order was even turned in. After receiving the order, the waitress completely disappeared. When it was time to leave, we again had to get up to request the bill. Not anyone's idea of a place to meet up with friends for lunch!
The service was fine and the atmosphere was just what we wanted for a post meeting get togther. The food was really sub par. The spinach artichoke chip and dips we ordered came out looking like someone had wretched across the chips. Very unappetizing and difficult to share as all of the dip was dumped on one corner of a pile of cold chips. My blackened tuna was cold, same for an associated seated next to me, the guy across from us ordered a Philly Cheesteak that came without cheese. The same expression was echoed across the table of 8, we won't go back.
Went for business dinner and place was mostly empty. Our waitress was not very attentive and appeared to be new. She would disappear for long periods even though there were only a few occupied tables. We ordered one of the more expensive bottles of wine on menu. It arrived at table with foil already removed. Another waitress came to the table and showed our waitress how to open and pour the wine. The wine was very warm - almost hot. I would not recommend this place for dinner. On the other hand the bar area was full and seemed energized. Go for a drink at the bar but not for dinner.
Excellent food and service.
We started with the salmon nachos... salmon was dry... and not enough for all of the chips really..
My entree, the Chicken Tchoupitoulas lacked flavor.. had more of a vinegary taste than Cajun...period..
The creamed spinach lacked flavor too..
My drinks were great.. can’t remember the exact name for it but it was one of the Martinis on the menu with St. Germain and vodka
Tatiana, our server, was superb! She was attentive, pleasant and extremely professional.
Food should have been better .. especially since this restaurant has been open for so long and has consistent business.
Always a great experience. Crab claws are the best ever.
Everything was great. Our server was amazing and the food was even better! I am vegetarian and they exceeded my expectations with the veggie burger 🍔
I traveled from New York to Atlanta (where I grew up) to visit my mom and sister. After seeing a movie at Phipps Plaza, I took them to the Tavern where we've had many great meals over the years. I made a reservation, but we ended up being 30 minutes late because the previews were so long. The hostess seated us immediately at a great table with a partial booth. The wooden table leg was so warped that it would have taken a phone book (as compared to a match book) to level it. Luckily, my sister had something in her purse that fixed it. The waitress was a nice young woman who greeted us, took our drink, appetizer and food order.
After about 10 minutes, our food (three Cobb salads) were brought to us (not by our waitress).
Our plan was to have a drink (lemon drop martinis) with our appetizer (blistered peppers), order another drink, and then enjoy our salads. Instead, we sat awkwardly waiting for our drinks and appetizer. It ruined the flow of our meal. When our waitress brought our drinks and saw our food sitting there, she was visibly concerned. She apologized for the bar being backed up. We didn't mind waiting for our drinks at all--but we really didn't like having our food come so fast. I guess I could have sent the salads back, but I don't like being a complainer.
I love the Tavern for its great food and atmosphere, and really wanted to linger before our main course with a second drink as I don't get to see my mom and sister very often. Is this the end of the world? No; the food and cocktails were fantastic (as I've come to expect since the Tavern opened), but it's the fine details that make a restaurant experience perfect.
An Atlanta icon. Excellent service and great quality food.
Nice menu with a lot variety. Excellent cheerful and thoughtful server. Food arrived hot and tasty.
The Open Table system was down so the reservation wasn’t found. The service was poor to fair once we were seated.
Horrible experience. We were completely ignored the majority of the night. Our full party of 5 arrived at 7:30 PM and we didn’t leave until after 10 PM because we were waiting so long for every little thing whether it was a water refill, our food, the check, etc. Some food dishes were not prepared correctly, my friend found a large bone in her chicken pasta. The server had a poor attitude every time we asked for something as if we were inconveniencing her, had to go find her to get our checks. One of us went to speak to the manager and they did nothing about the situation either. We used to go to Tavern all the time but will likely never go back after this experience.
Food was fantastic. They had a guy there singing and he was amazing. I had the fillet steak, it was perfection. Would definitely go back.
We went for lunch on a Sunday. Was not crowded, so we got a nice seat, and the service was great. Two of us got the philly cheese steak sandwich, which was too dry, and two of us got the shrimp & pasta dish (can't remember the name) and it was pretty good. I've eaten here a few times now, and I'd give this place an average rating.
I ordered a veggie burger and got the ultimate burger which I did not like
Good food. Great atmosphere
This dining experience at the Tavern at Phipps was not typical of what we've enjoyed in the past. The food was delicious, as usual; however, our server was clearly not interested in being a server. It appeared that he felt doing this job was beneath him, and he went out of his way to NOT come to our table, to look elsewhere while he WAS at our table, and just generally did his overall best to ignore us. We were pretty shocked, and realized by observing others that this level of service is typical of this server. Another server, a woman, stepped up to the plate and filled in as best she could to take care of us.
