The Tavern at Phipps
Not sure how this restaurant stays open except that maybe the happy hour crowd is keeping it afloat. Waited almost 10 min for a waiter before asking who was our server, water glasses were refilled only at the end of our visit & a bulldog was walking around unattended (not sure if that's part of their schtick). Food was below average pub fare. Still wondering why anyone would want to come here.
Great service , great food.
I have enjoyed Tavern for years after shopping with my wife. However, on this trip, the service was very slow. The food was alright but for a bar/restaurant to not have a decent beer selection is ridiculous.
Good restaurant and one we often go to when at the Mall. Food is good, not outstanding, and service is good too. A good place to go before and after a movie.
Waited 5 minutes to be greeted by the hostess after getting rude responses from wait staff when asking about getting seated. After being seated for 10 minutes with no one coming to our table we walked out. Did use the bathroom and it was disgusting so probably best we didn't eat anything. Went to Davios and had a great meal and impeccable service.
Had a Great time there. Very nice staff. Food was cooked perfectly.
Food was Luke warm when it arrived & not especially tasty either
My son and I selected this restaurant to have our Christmas dinner based on the menu variety. William was an excellent server, despite it being SUPER BUSY. My food was delicious... however I was disappointed that my son’s steak was sent out burnt. I don’t think that I have ever seen a steak disrespected that way by a Chef. He took one bite of the steak and the burnt taste immediately turned his stomach. Again, I was disappointed that my son did not enjoy his Christmas dinner.
I can say that the manager(I didn’t get his name) was very accommodating and offered to make my son another steak... my son declined the offer. He nibbled on his Chicken Alfredo that he also requested when we placed our initial order(What can I say...He is a growing boy) but commented that the Chicken Alfredo did not have a taste. (Again, I was disappointed for him)
We finally ordered dessert and my son approved of the dessert.
We will give Tavern at Phipps another try, as my food was delicious and the service was second to none. My son is on the fence though:(
I really enjoyed this place, aside from the smoke I smelled walking into the establishment. I was happy I did not smell it while dining on the opposite side of the restaurant.
It was Christmas Day and although we had a reservation we waited an inordinately amount of time. The girl at the desk kept seating others and when we approached her she said she had texted us. She hadn't. But all in all we enjoyed our meal and are returning customers. Our server, Gage, took good care of us and was very pleasant throughout the meal.
Went for dinner on Christmas Day. It was very crowded and the bar area was lively! We made a 5:30 reservation and had to wait awhile to be seated. The manager very kindly moved us to a more quiet table after we were initially escorted to a table near the bar and the “napkin cannon”. The food and service were very good on a crowded evening!
It was too dark. I know what a tavern is known for, but I shouldn’t have had to use the light on my phone to read the menu. I felt like I was being forced to participate in a seance. The food was fine. I have never been there at night, so the low level of brightness was very offputting for me. I actually prefer to be able to see the food I am eating. Unless the clientele is a group of people trying to have secret clandestine meetings with people they aren’t supposed to be, the lights need to be much more bright.
Christmas Day late lunch. So glad I made a reservation. I always love the food here. Large variety of food to pick from. I have been eating here ever since they have been open, always excellent.
Lovely dinner with family in town.
Absolutely disgusting experience..my birthday was Sunday, December 23rd and I had a dinner with my family. First, they gave my table away and didn't even apologize for it. Host and hostess both had horrible attitudes. Hostess dressed half naked..it was very inappropriate. Second, we all ordered our food and everyone got their food before me and I told the staff it was my birthday. No special treatment from them. My best friend was done eating before I even got mine. I was so emotional and upset. Everyone was upset. The food was disgusting once I finally got mine and also my family hated their food. It was way too dark in their. Just an absolute disappointment. I will never dine here again. Thanks for making my 30th bday crappy.
Celebrating shopping and annual holidays.
Our last two visits to The Tavern have been disappointing due to failures in the kitchen, on the floor, and with management. During both visits, one of the six entrees we ordered was undercooked. Filet Mignon does not get better with age, refiring, and multiple visits to the kitchen. While we can understand not getting it right the first time, flagging down the server to notifiy her of the problem and gaining her attention after the first drop off was summarily plopped on the table. Management was condescending to my daughter, a seventeen year old, not a toddler, and was too late to salvage the evening. If you're looking for a respite from Phipps Plaza, The Tavern will do, but if you're expecting much more, I suggest you head somewhere else.
Love the food.
Very good food. Service was great. It is very dark in the restaurant, but I enjoyed it- made for a more relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Very Good Again- we go 2-3 times a month. Very enjoyable & good food and service.
A secret in Buckhead.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
The food was decent, but all of our orders did not come out at the same time. My son’s order was messed up the first time, but quickly corrected. Busy or not the service level in Buckhead should always be the best.
Not up to our expectations. Worst margarita I’d ever had. Meal was mediocre. Really has decreased in quality since last visited
Waitress was intoxicated. Food was below average. Took two bites of my turkey burger and when she came and took it after everyone was done eating she made 0 effort to make things right. If you like looking at half naked 18 year olds it’s a great spot, but you can get a similar experience at Aluvia with better food.
Service was good. Food was better. The "S"-Cargot is fantastic. Really good food and fantastic bartenders!
Server was great but the kitchen was VERY slow and the pasta was not good at all, chicken ceaser sala
The food is good -- not great or particularly creative. The service is excellent. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here, but if you happen to be at Phipps Plaza, it's definitely a good spot for a bite to eat or a drink at the bar.
Our waiter, Blake, was obviously not ready for the day.
Service was quick and attentive without being intrusive. Food came out quickly, hot and tasted great. Overall a wonderful experience.
It was so dark at our table we could not see our menus or our plates. A request to turn up the lighting was ignored. Many people in our party had overcooked food and a couple were outright burned. A request to return burned food was not well received. I would not recommend the Tavern based on this experience. I will say that the BBQ chicken nachos were delicious but other than that, most of the food was average or worse.
Annual event...Santa and dining at The Tavern!
We had great service - excellent soup and sandwiches. The Tavern is a staple for us - at least 2-3 times a month - and we will continue!
Tavern is a mis-statement as this is a cool broad-based menu with classy ambiance. Everything we had was excellent. Nice broad menu, including but not limited to some nice New Orleans choices. Food well prepared. Only down side was the service, while very, very friendly, was a bit slow. But this was a Sat nite so likely the most crowded time.
The General Managers do nothing when telling them that their line runner is eating out the containers with his hands to his mouth while serving peoples plates. Mind you, we also watched him pick his nose and not change gloves. After this complaint, we were told we couldn't be seated because they were trying to close the Kitchen all the while we had a 9:45pm reservation on Opentable. When we were leaving, we saw them seat 2 other couples that came in after us. This place is gross and unprofessional and we will never eat here again!
We’ve been going to The Tavern for years. First time for Thanksgiving. Food presentation was horrible. Was told on the phone you can choose either turkey or ham but that wasn’t true. Turkey was sliced so thin it was like deli style. All the trimmings were like a spoonful of each and just really poor presentation. Too much carbs and only one green vegetable. Pecan pie best part of meal.
Food we ordered was not very tasty. Salmon was much too dry and "fishy".
Great Thanksgiving dinner. Everything great. The food is always terrific. I have never had a bad experience. Excellent food, great cooks.
The bartender was in a leather hour glass dress that was way too low on her bust line, and way to short in length. Literally she looked worse than a playboy bunny without the ears. Inappropriate for today's environment. We found it appalling. I ordered chinese salad it was so soggy I sent it back. Waiter was not attentive at all. We just did not have a good experience unfortunately.
The waiter was terrible and very inattentive to refilling drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. She was barley around for the meal. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed! Nice crowd and great drinks.
