Our family of 4 went for holiday tea service. I am no stranger to the tea service at the Heathman. The service was incredible and our waiter was top notch. The food fell a little flat. The food tray was not so full, only two sandwiches to try. The pastry level was okay, but the dessert level fell flat with fruit to fill it in. It was definitely subpar for Heathman standards. The other thing that I found bizzare is that our silverware didn't match, I get that it's a small detail, but when you spend that kind of money those details matter. Lastly, we were sat at a library table with a lamp between two of our guests. We left disappointed and hungry. If you are on the fence about the tea service, I would reccomend that you skip it.

Our dinner was a great experience. We enjoyed the salmon dip, lamb meat balls, squash salad, scallops, and steak as a table. The food was excellent and the environment made us feel cared for and relaxed. Highly recommend for a night out.

The food was good and the service was good but where we were sat was unacceptable. We were sat in the landing on the top of the stairs across form the rental room areas. As we were being seated I asked for another table down in the Tavern at Heathman area. I was told that the tables were for bigger parties. Unfortunately this was a falsehood as I could see that there was a two top next to the fireplace that was empty. It was cleared but never used the entire time we were there. Service people were going back and forth on the landing during our tea time. For awhile my view included the janitorial cart as he cleaned the bathrooms.

Thanksgiving dinner was amazing. All the food was delicious. It was served family style and just kept coming the whole time. The standouts, for me, we’re the autumn salad, the stuffing and the pecan pie. Service was fantastic. We arrived early and offered to wait in the bar but they seated us early and just started serving us delicious food. Wonderful experience.

It was a joy to return to this lovely, well appointed restaurant now that it has finally reopened! The holiday meal offering had some incredible, flavorful high points, including a delightful toast appetizer, a surprising chip and dip dish, and perfectly cooked turkey and mashed potatoes. The curried chickpea mixed salad was not a favorite, nor was the grapefruit mixed drink, but they were worth a try! The only downside was that servers were so sparse -- the delays between courses seemed never-ending. It appeared that the dwindling workforce has hit the Heathman as hard as it has hit so many other establishments. The servers who we did see were doing their level best to keep the food coming to all. We appreciated their hard work on a holiday! But even knowing that the few servers were overwhelmed, we couldn't help feeling forgotten and wondering if the kitchen had run out of food more than once. (It had not... just slow.) Overall, it was an excellent meal and a lovely place to eat it. But don't go here if you hope to dine and dash. Go with good company and a leisurely perspective!

Food was ok for the price. Our group tried pretty much everything on the menu & the Parmesan fries, squash salad & roasted checked were the only things worth ordering again. A server spilled water on our table while filling our glasses & we had to remind them that it needed to be cleaned up. Service was just ok.

We intended to have dinner here before the show, but they forgot to put in our order and we ran out of time to eat. We were seated, got drinks and ordered in the first 15 minutes, but then 40 minutes passed and by the time we flagged down the waiter to check on our food, it was too late. He told us there was a mixup in the kitchen and our order was lost. I at least appreciate that he let us know so we could decide to just leave without firing up the food. They comped our one round of drinks and we left disappointed and hungry.

We had not been to the Heathman Restaurant (The Tavern) for years and decided to try it before a show. The space is comfortable and it was fairly busy. The server was very nice, but the service (particularly for the drinks) was a bit slow. We ordered 2 glasses of wine while eating our appetizer and the wine came after we were done with dessert! The real bummer was the size of the entrees. We ordered the scallops off of the "Pre-Theater" menu and when the dish came, it was on an appetizer size plate with 2 medium sized scallops and a few pieces of bite size pieces of squash. It tasted pretty good, but the size for the price was ridiculous and we were still hungry. We probably won't be going back.

You'll definitely be disappointed if you expected a 'Tavern' as there is certainly no typical tavern food here and the prices are way up there ($34 for the chicken, $72 for a steak). We actually ended up eating Mediterranean food which was pretty good but weirdly out of place. This is more of a high-end hotel downtown restaurant. Not sure why they renamed it The Tavern. The atmosphere is nice enough with leather booths and a nice bar area but it just doesn't live up to its name in any authentic way at all. Sadly didn't meet our expectations.

Service was slow and we almost missed being seated at the symphony next door. Scallops were fresh and well prepared but were served with overcooked pieces of sausage. Smoked chicken was dry but potatoes were flavorful. Server was aloof. It was disappointing.

Great stay at the hotel itself was beautiful. Front of house staff were amazing! The hotel experience was extremely luxe right down to the bath robes which you can buy before you leave after you stay :D Wonderful evening of food and chat and drinks on Saturday evening at The Tavern Inn! The bar staff are wonderful!

The Heathman Hotel a mainstay for business and preconcert dining has finally reopened its in house restaurant. There has mot been much change to the ambiance and unfortunately remains very open and cold. The bar is well stocked but very slow and modest mixology skills beyond the featured drinks, had to send back my martini and settled for disappointment on round two as it took 15 mins to correct the mistake. The menu is very tight and yet offers a diverse offering of very well prepared dishes. Portion sizes are appropriate but the pricing forces each dinner to a $60+ for a two course meal. We had the Truffle Bread, Duck Confit, Octopus, abd flourless chocolate cake. Wine list is very light with both new and old world offerings. Sadly the service is very poor and hopeful it will improve with training. The house was at less than 25% capacity and we felt pressured to place our entire order at the first visit by the waiter. Three diners $360.00 including tip.

Overall this is a fine option if you're looking for a nice dinner downtown before a show, which we were. The ambience is nice, the staff friendly and food tasted good. That said, the menu seemed a bit random and limited and didn't include anything you would expect from a restaurant called The Tavern. We were expecting maybe elevated "pub" fare, but not even a burger. And it was spendy. For the money I can think of a few other options I would go to before returning here. But as I said, overall an okay choice.

I had the grilled octopus and it was perfectly prepared. It was just the right size meal before a show. My husband had the Lamb Meatballs with tahini sauce it was also very good.

We enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Tavern. Because Wynton Marsalis was playing next door that night at the Schnitzer, the place was full. Our server worked hard and got around to everyone. She was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable of both the drinks and the food. The lamb meatballs and the scallops were very flavorful and served hot. They both were attractively presented on the plate. Tip - the old fashioned was the best I've ever had. The decor is attractive and balanced with wood features which add warmth. We'll be back!

We had a horrible experience. We were the first group seated in the restaurant at approx 5:30. We planned this due to attending the show next door at 7pm. First it took over 15 min to get our round of drinks. One beer, glass of wine and one cocktail. When we got them there was a clump of hair in the cocktail. Not one or two hairs but a full clump. The wings were dropped in a a timely manner and then we waited for over an hour for our food. I explained that we were now pushing time since it was 6:40. The waitress told me that our food was accidentally given to another table. And it would be out in 15 minutes. Well that didn’t work out so well since we had to go. I literally had to box up a 50 dollar steak and an order of lamb meatballs. When I was finally able to get our bill she indicated how sorry she was a removed the drink that had the hairs in it from our bill. Uh I hope so and really?? Sad to say that we Al were very disappointed not only in how the evening went but also that I called 4 times to talk with a manager the next week and not one person returned my calls. Total bummer.

We visited for breakfast after reading great reviews, but were disappointed. We waited quite awhile after being seated before our server came to our table. She was either really new or something else was going on. She seemed pretty lost about the menu and out of it in general. We saw her rarely during our visit. Our food came out lukewarm after a long wait. My food tasted fine aside from the temp, but my partner’s hash looked really unappealing and tasted mediocre at best. Unfortunately we did not see our server in order to address any of these concerns. The ambiance was great. The manager was very friendly and seemed to be doing a lot of work on the floor. It’s certainly possible that we caught them on an off day, but since we were visiting from out of town we’re not able to give them another try.

It was hard to find fault with this dining experience (and I'm one of those people who never uses the words "dining experience"). We weren't sure how this was going to be since restaurant previously at this location closed during the pandemic, but it exceeded our expectations. Service was excellent (one minor glitch was all) and the staff was pleasant and willing to answer all questions. And the food! We did the pre fixe which still gave us lots of good choices. There wee no win pairings offered, but with the sommelier's help, we were able to a wine that matched each course fairly easily. We never felt rushed and the noise level, even as the restaurant got more crowded as the evening progressed, was never uncomfortable. We would recommend and will be sure to go back.

The food prep, presentation and taste was excellent. We thought the portions could have been a little more. My three scallops were delicious but three for $30+ was too high. Beet salad needed a few heartier pieces of beet but he taste was very good. After concert dessert was good but no Baileys at the bar was disappointing. Settled for a port. Thank you.

Service is excellent. Food choices are limited. A green salad option would be good. The wine list is mediocre.

Wine choices were great! Service was excellent from manager to runner not a hitch in the dining experience. Appetizers and salads were excellent; especially the escargot. The entrees were overpriced and underwhelming. Go for everything else and skip the entrees!

GREAT drinks - I had a fabulous rye Manhattan. Focaccia was so yummy; very crispy and enjoyable. Both entrees - scallops and octopus were yummy.

They seemed understaffed, took almost a half an hour to place an order. Coffee poured but was cold before milk arrived for it, never offered a warm up. The food was fantastic, best salmon hash ever. I will go back with low expectations around service.
