Paleo's food was excellent. Our table had the caesar salad, Cheese & Meat Charcuterie Plate for appetizers. Then for entrees we had the Pan Seared Salmon, the Filet Mignon , Pasta Bolognese and the Chicken Parmigiana and they all were delicious. The dessert were very good as well.

Palio has expanded downstairs to create Tasting room at Palio, which is a great idea. A Very creative menu, great bar-like ambiance, very nice but not "stuffy". Live music when we were there, not too loud, creates a nice background. Good mix of classic Italian dishes with newer creative dishes.

Wonderful food, excellent service. Local ingredients and made in house desserts. We had a variety of items. Perfectly cooked seafood and steak. Prix fix is a good value. The entire staff is friendly and professional. The lobster ravioli, ribeye steak, and seafood platter are all wonderful.

We shared the daily special appetizer of spicy fried shrimp--delicious! I had the seafood platter--grilled lobster, shrimp, and scallops, plus mashed potatoes--it was divine. My wife had the salmon, and substituted the pesto linguine for the gnocchi--she loved it. We also had a California chardonnay by the glass--quite nice. All in all, it was an excellent meal. We brought home the chocolate cheesecake dessert and had it the next day at home--it was wonderful. I hope the restaurant is successful, it was empty when we got there, and only one other group of four when we left. The food is outstanding.

Although the food was good, it took forever for the courses to arrive. We had a table of six, but 3 and a half hours for our meal from start to finish was extreme. Thank goodness we weren’t in a hurry.

The only negative thing I could say was the sauce on my wife's steak was salty and when she mentioned it the critic was not well received and I doubt it ever got back to the chef.

The service was impeccable - Thanks Randy! The waiter was attentive without being interfering. The food was delicious. Loved the special appetizer of fried brie in panko bread crumbs with the two beautiful sauces. The steak was tender and good perectly. The Bolognese was incredible. We will be back!!!

We were pleased by our experience at Palio. It was a very quiet Sunday night in August - in fact our group was the only one in the restaurant. We received excellent service and enjoyed the very good and attractively presented dinner. A repeat performance is in the cards.

Great experience at Palio. Calamari appetizer and filet main course were delish. Our server, Eric - was top notch and could answer our gazillion questions & recommended a perfect wine for our meal. Atmosphere was cozy/darkish and intimate and live music was great! We will be back!

Palio has always been one of our favorite places for a delicious Italian meal. This was NOT Palio. This has to be new ownership, and they should not be allowed to desecrate the Palio name.
There was one man waiting tables, and everyone there (and there weren't that many) had the same dumbfounded expression on their face. I ordered Sancerre; he brought me Sangria. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer; he brought us (without telling us first) fries and fried calamari. He said the mussels were bad, so they brought us that as a substitute and wouldn't charge for it. For my entree, I ordered paella. It was soupy Minute Rice with mussels and calamari all over it! I did not eat it. My husband played it safe, and ordered a burger, medium rare, and it came over cooked and he didn't eat it.
We felt like we were on a hidden camera TV show. This place is horrendous, and we want the original Palio back.

My date and I had a nice dinner but I am not certain we will return. We ordered a delicious amber beer which was on tap but after one beer the keg was empty with no replacement keg. We did not care for the other draft beers offered. We had to change to bottled beer which was a disappointment to us as we do not care for bottled beer. The beef and fondue appetizer was good but the beef was over-cooked and the fondue was cold. I ordered a medium size plate of foie gras but the portion was so tiny, it should have been designated an appetizer, small plate or tapas, NOT a medium plate. The slice of foie gras was so tiny, it was laughable. We typically do not order desert but we had to because we were still hungry. We both ordered home-made ice cream which was delicious but each scoop was miniature -- little more than an inch in diameter. I didn't know they made such tiny scoops. I was still hungry when we left and the bill for 2 was approx. $170 with tip. I wouldn't recommend unless you have already eaten and just want to taste a few bites of food.

Best restaurant I've been to outside of D.C. The chef is superb. The appetizers and entrees were delicious and the presentations were beautiful. The wine list is excellent and you have the option of BYOB for a very reasonable corkage fee. This is a must try restaurant. You will be very satisfied.

We swore to never go to Palio again after going twice and getting poor service a couple years ago. They now have a new Chef and branding as a Tapas tasting restaurant so we gave them another shot. We were thrilled. Great service, a limited number of very good wines, and food that would satisfy those with discriminating taste and don't mind spending a little more for it. We will return!

The new incarnation of Palio is absolutely superb! You want find a restaurant like this anywhere around here. Food is innovative, beautifully prepared and served, and varied enough to have something for even the most picky eaters served tapis style. You have to call this international cuisine, and it will stand up, although different, to very fine food places like Mokomandy, Rasika, & La Chaumier except no white tablecloths and the staff are all in Columbia style shirts. Very good wine list, attentive service and piano music Friday nights. I could eat there every night for a couple of weeks straight and never be bored with the food. Chef is just fantastic!

The new meal format at Palio is very different than the restaurant once had, but the food is excellent. The meal cost is very reasonable, though the meal portions are somewhat limited.

Sadly, it seems as if not many have discovered the new incarnation of the restaurant. The crowd was very small for a Saturday evening, at least compared to the number of people who once were there during the restaurant's Italian format.

My husband and I wanted to take my dad out to dinner to a restaurant we'd never tried before, and we were all in the mood for a steak. We actually found Palio via a google search of steak houses in Leesburg, but the restaurant website included an outdated menu. It turned out that our visit to the restaurant coincided with its recent "rebirth" as a tasting room with a more cosmopolitan menu that the old one featured online... We were a little apprehensive because dining out is such an expensive proposition, and we are so often disappointed when we try new places. Well, we needn't have worried! Palio was absolutely outstanding from the first bite to the last. Truly first-rate food AND service. Our only complaint was the noise level, which was a bit excessive, particularly given that the dining room was fairly small and intimate. Otherwise, though, all three of us gave Palio two big, satisfied thumbs up. Highly recommended.

We were not sure what to expect, as the restaurant's web site and Open Table displayed 2 very different menus. Open Table's was the correct one. They need to make an investment in the menu itself, something more professional than menus on copy paper.

The food was very good though, we'd return for that, which made it a success.

We tried something new to us with this restaurant and were so glad we did. We were seated upstairs and received very attentive service. It's now a "tasting room" and I think the menu is evolving that direction. I saw small plates and medium plates on the menu, but a lot of the excellent food (all the food is excellent) wasn't geared towards sharing. The complaints start and end there. And you can use a knife to divide stuff up, so no problem. I recommend the whole menu and we tried a good portion of it! There is a filet fondue in the small plate section that should be eaten every visit. Wine prices are not expensive and they have a nice selection. The chef is to be commended, as is our waiter. We can pick him out of a lineup, but it has been a couple of weeks so cannot remember his name .. but thank you!

The menu was nothing like what OpenTable had posted. My husband and I got up and left once we looked at the menus and I saw nothing I would eat. . I told one of the gentlemen that their menu was not what their website or OpenTable had on them. They said they would look into it, and for a Friday night (@7:00 pm) the place had 3 tables full, I've eaten there once before and knew in advance that they had changed things up (hence my checking of menus). Highly disappointing and was over priced for the items on their legal size paper menu. They seem to be trying someplace they are not.

Service was not good. Food was not good. Found out towards end of meal that the day we were there was their last day before closing for four weeks or so according to the not so friendly waiter. They were turning people away even though there were plenty of tables available. It was Mother Day so it was supposed to be a nice brunch but they weren't even offering brunch or even lunch. Don't recommend this place.

Disappointing- salad & fish dish good, veal not tender & accompanied by pasta in too heavy sauce. Overpriced, nothing special. Ambience strange- Trying to be upscale Italian- theme but background music was hits of the 70's music throughout meal...(Dust in the Wind, Stayin Alive etc) out of place. wine list way overpriced. Go elsewhere.

First time dining at Palio and generally we enjoyed the meal but mis-steps marred each course. We were left feeling unimpressed given the expense.
Foremost, the excessive wine list mark-up was a turn-off (nearly 4X on retail is stunning). Savvy restaurateurs know better than to gouge the patron on the wine mark-up! This does not foster a lasting relationship.
Our hostess was a charming lady and offered us a choice of seating options. The upstairs dining room was nearly empty when arriving for an 8PM Saturday reservation.
Live music was performing in the bar area. The music could be heard in the dining room; this was quite nice. Our waiter was attentive and had some good recommendations to share. A chiabatta style bread was served warm and accompanied by a trio of dipping oils/tapenade.
The ample mussels appetizer was spiked with chorizo. The flavor was quite good but the seafood flavor was wholly overwhelmed by the spice.
Spinach salad was a nice rendition though a meager portion given the price, $14.
Rack of lamb was prepared precisely to medium rare and was nicely seasoned; I really liked it. I'm told the risotto was delicious but the serving looked small. The plated green vegetables were delicious, but again, the portions were quite scant (4 thin asparagus spears for my wife; a dozen or so small hericot verts on my plate).
In sum, I suspect I will recommend Palio to friends but with a caveat to resist the wine list and don't arrive too hungry.

I had eaten here before and it was very good. This might not so much. We ordered the beef carpaccio and when it arrived it was literally frozen. I appreciate keeping it cold but this was delivered freezer to table. We sent it back. Next up was the seafood and pasta for me and the scallops for my wife. While the seafood and pasta had good flavor the seafood was over cooked. It included clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops and calamari. Scallops, calamari and shrimp were so tough I couldn't eat them.

Wife's scallops were good but a little over seasoned.

Service was excellent and we had a nice bottle of wine but not an experience that would call me back. Maybe just a bad night.

I reserved a table a week in advance for a birthday dinner. Even with the advanced reservation we were seated as close to the kitchen as possible. The wait staff as we first sat down was overly attentive trying to sell us a bottle of wine - after we refused the wine the wait staff became almost non existent. We basically had to ask to place our order. It took forever for us to get our food.

Delicious experience dining at Palio. My husband and I particularly enjoyed it, having been to Siena a few years back and realized that is the theme of the restaurant (after the Palio horse races in Siena). The only downside to this experience was the live pianist in the bar was so loud and everyone at the bar (although we were in the next room) was singing and yelling along so loudly we almost had to yell to have conversation. Finally we requested they shut the double doors in between us and the bar, which made it much more enjoyable (and saved our voices!).
