Overpriced for very small portions, not a place to take three hungry men, they left hungry.

Having enjoyed the restaurant many times, I was disappointed in our meal and experience. My pasta was tough and not that tasty. My dinner companion sent back her first glass of $18 a glass wine because it was nearly flavorless. Very loud and not that pleasant. Not sure I would go back.

The meal started off promising. We did the 5 course tasting menu. At about the 3rd course, the service and food took a very sharp decline. Our waitress wouldn't even look us in the eye, ask if we needed anything, etc. The 5th course was by far the worst. It took about 25 minutes and was just some kind of frozen looking apple fritter. Horrible way to end the evening! Clearly something was going on in the kitchen, but no one bothered to tell us what was up, so we were just left in the corner. Definitely not worth the $400 price tag. Won't be going back.

Noise level was much too loud. Our server stood right next to our table to explain the menu and I could not hear 10% of what she said. I could barely have a conversation with those sitting at the our table. The table next to me was too close, and the guy sitting there was talking so loud, it made the experience not very enjoyable.

Creative presentation, excellent food, great service. Perhaps a little overpriced. Background music too loud for my liking. Would definitely recommend the restaurant to others.

Went to tasting kitchen for a family dinner and the food was amazing! Didn't have any complaints and will come here again on my next trip to LA!

Can sav and old fashioned were great. Three course tasting menu $75. Faves were soup amuse, prosciutto hot pockets, mussels, NY steak, pear tart. Would probably go elsewhere like rustic canyon for similar type special dinner.

The service and the food were outstanding but it is very noisy, I had to sit next to my wife, not across from her, and it was quite expensive.

This is a unique dining experience that should not be missed. The service was impeccable, which is rare in the restaurant world today. We literally had a server attentive to us during the entire dining experience. The food was beyond delicious..each item uniquely prepared. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for food is because I didn't care for the salty branzino...it was too salty. I wasn't crazy about the first course having an appetizer of all beets...I love beets but this was too much in the way of beets. The meat dishes were amazing, the pasta with shrimp, mussels, appetizer of lentils and desserts were beyond amazing. It may seem pricey at first but the experience of being able to taste so many things that feel as though they are prepared exclusively for YOU makes it worth the price...plus you have plenty of food. We went there at the request of our milleniel son to celebrate his birthday and I requested a table to sit downstairs. After we were seated one of the manangers saw that we were a bit cramped for 3 in our table...and saw my unhappy face. I didn't want to upset my son on his birthday by complaining...like all moms tend to do. He came over and offered us a table upstairs. I mean who is that nice in the restaurant world today. We actually loved sitting upstairs! A very special place to celebrate our son's birthday that I highly recommend.

Completely overpriced wine list, insultingly. Small portions. Really just over-hyped, trendy, people watching that you pay too much for.

This is my second time going to the tasting kitchen.
We made reservations weeks ago knowing that it’s a popular place. We arrived 20 minutes early so we could have a drink at the bar, and the host said as soon as the other couple arrived we could be seated, that our table was ready. Before we could make our way to the bar, our friends showed up and the host again said your table is ready and tried to seat us. Once more, being way early, we said we wanted to have a drink at the bar first. After getting our drinks and starting to catch up with our friends, the host comes over and says she is ready to seat us, insisting we be seated . We still had 10 minutes before our reservations. I really don’t understand the rush to get us to our table...
The food is great, however it’s called the “tasting” kitchen because that’s all you get is a taste. Twice I was led astray by the portion size. being told the serving was large enough to share and yet was barely enough for one. Go, but go prepared.

A local stand by for good reason. While the rest of Abbott Kinney is constantly changing, this staple has managed to not just hang in there, but flourish (even in the face of significant new competition). I’ve eaten here a half dozen times over the past year and each visit has been fantastic. I’ve eaten the tasting menu each time, and while things change with the seasons, the food quality is unfailingly excellent. Can’t go wrong with the drinks menu or the wine list either. Their sommelier Ivan was accommodating and helped us pick delicious wines to go with each course. I’ll be back soon enough!

We were seated right away in the upstairs area. Food was a little slow being delivered, but everything was delicious. Will return.

Unimpressed. Needs work. Food was bland, and service even worse. Very cold coffee was served in tiny faux china coffee cup. I finally flagged down a busboy for a refill hoping I had just gotten an old or bad cup, but the refill was just as cold and bad. “Soft scramble” lacked flavor and was served with tasteless thick toast. I’ve had better breakfasts at fast food places. Terrible all around.

My bf and I went to Tasting Kitchen to celebrate an anniversary. We made reservations for 7:30pm, but were not seated until nearly 8:00 when we even arrived a bit earlier to be considerate of our reservation time. The hostess sat all other guests who arrived before and after us, but did not seem to be phased that we were waiting for nearly half an hour even WITH a reservation.

After we finally got seated, our friendly server came to greet us and took our order after some time. The first appetizer came out after a reasonable amount of time, but our second appetizer did not come out until nearly 9:00 (mind you, we had 7:30 reservations). The mussels we were waiting for finally came out and were honestly mediocre. Then after some more waiting our tagliatelle pasta and branzino came out also tasting very bleh and felt even a little cold like it had been sitting out. I've had these same dishes on a previous occasion and definitely noticed a drastic decline in their food quality, let alone their service.

In the end, we waited way too long and felt like we paid way too much for food that was mediocre. Go somewhere else if you want to taste good food for a reasonable amount of money and time.

Very mediocre dinner... made worse by a rather unpleasant, dismissive server who really wasn't good at her job... or maybe didn't understand what her job is to do at a "nice" establishment.

The customer service is excellent, BUT the kitchen is regrettable. We were the first to arrive for brunch on Sunday and by the time we left the ENTIRE restaurant was eating and our meals NEVER arrived.

To their credit, our waiter was fantastic and the manager was very apologetic and did not let us pay for our initial coffee and juice we had while we were waiting.

Our return visit to The Tasting Kitchen was even more fabulous than the first. Brilliant cocktails and fresh bread were followed by a succession of shared plates: beet salad, pasta pomodoro, roasted branzino, lentils with rapini, and steamed spinach. The spinach was a little too garlicky, but everything else was marvelous. The pasta in particular is prepared to perfection. Your hard-of-hearing friends and family won't flourish in the loud music atmosphere, but otherwise, its pretty fabulous.

Another good meal here at the Tasting Kitchen and the seating downstairs is very nice. My friend and I were a bit put off, however, by the overpriced cocktails, some of which were more than the plates ($18 cocktail? Give me a break!). I know we're dealing with "mixologists" these days rather than bartenders, and the drinks are good, but still not worth the price of a dinner plate.

What a disappointment. Ordered 5-course menu for 5. Underwhelming, underseasoned, except one over-salted Branzino. Asked for a Fresh Limey cocktail without smokiness. Received Mescal. The server never offered to fix it. Gave her a recipe for a new cocktail and she brought straight mescal with a lime, undrinkable. Food was beyond basic. The five of us left $700+ poorer with nothing exceptional to note. A very regrettable experience.
