Love Tasting Kitchen for brunch. Some of the best biscuits and gravy in L.A.

Greeted and seated promptly. Beautiful setting. Waitstaff okay. Food good but not great for the price. Radiccio salad with far too much balsamic. Spaghetti pomodoro decent but lacking robust flavor (in comparison to Scarpetta’s version, for example). A friend had the octopus starter and the sea bass main course and said they were both good. Overall it was a good meal but given the cost, on balance, I probably would try elsewhere next time.

It was our first time at The Tasting Kitchen. Was very impressed with our starters and main courses. Service was very attentive. Would highly recommend.

We have been here many times, and this will be the last. My husband found a piece of glass in the charcuterie appetizer, and then a hair in the butter (for the bread and butter). The whole experience was gross and off-putting. Management did very little to even try to rectify the situation.

My girlfriends and I enjoyed a lovely brunch here on a perfect, Venice Beach Saturday morning. Glorious scrambled eggs, lovely greens, a breakfast panino to die for all in an indoor/outdoor setting. We skipped the mimosas, which we regret because the group next to us looked to be thoroughly soaking up the pleasure of theirs!

Don’t typically review but experience here was very underwhelming. Dismissive and condescending waitress. Overpriced and weak drinks (lose the measured pour for $20) and the food was nothing impressive. Don’t want to be a hater but not a great experience here.

Meh....it’s okay. The food was decent. I prefer the Italian cuisine in Edmonton over LA.

We had a lovely dinner - the 5-course tasting menu - with each dish delicious, the service fantastic, and the drinks solid. I've been several times for brunch, but never for dinner, and loved it. Of course, it was First Friday out on Abbot Kinney, so the street was overrun with food trucks - that I'd skip.

Ahhh, how I love The Tasting Kitchen! I try to eat here every time I am in Venice. 6 years after my first visit, and the food is still unique, special, extremely tasty, well-portioned, with amazing service from host to servers. We had a bit of a delay arriving due to a schedule change and traffic, but the host was so sweet to accommodate our late night dinner. I love the ambiance: the tree growing in the main room, the cozy lighting, giant beautiful wood doors and ceiling beams, eiffel chairs, and on-trend decor. We started with the gnocco fritto|salumi and burrata. Cool and inventive starter! The pockets were warm and delish, and we stuffed them with the sliced meats and creamy burrata. We moved onto the baby beet/pistachio salad. Perfect. The beets were tender and juicy, and the citrus drizzle was light and tangy. For mains, one had the branzino with pinenuts and I ordered the tagliatelle|yellowfoot|tesa|sage. The branzino was flavorful and the sauce was light and creamy. Overall, a beautiful fish dish and not too heavy, but perfectly satisfying. The tagliatelle was perfectly cooked: noodles were tender and barely firm, the yellowfoot were flavorful but not overpowering and the sage and light buttery sauce rounded out the flavor wheel without overtaking the mushrooms. I so rarely order pasta because it just sits like a lump at the end of the meal, but this dish was so satisfying, quelled my hunger, and I didn't leave feeling like I over-ate. We finished the meal with a cinnamon apple crostada. The crostada were delightfully crumbly with a dainty bite, the apples were nicely seasoned but not overwhelming, and the cream was an ideal third wheel. Overall, a perfect meal, with great attention to detail, and an expert server who knew the entire menu, and nuances back to front, and helped us craft our ideal dinner experience. Thank you again!

It has good intentions but their performance remains significantly below their aspirations. The food is not creative nor delicate. It is a expensive for what you get

I came for Sunday brunch with some friends. The food was very good, however both hostess and waitress were snobby and had a bad attitude. Not sure why as it wasn't busy or anything, but nonetheless, it left a bad taste in my mouth for the restaurant.

Excellent salads, excellent bread w/excellent olive oil. Excellent wine list. The pasta tasting plates were strong and flavorful. The entrees and deserts, however were underwhelming. But overall it was a successful dinner experience.

The food, as per usual, was divine! The clams were fresh, lobster was tender, and the branzino is to die for ! The vegetables and side dishes were amazing as well (my favorite is the lentils).
Our server, Elizabeth was an absolute gem (: very knowledgeable

They have mixed reviews about this Resto so I tried it and the food is awesomely good !!! Will come back for sure !! Although their main entree is a lil over pricey for a small proportion their appetizers are generously great!! You can order different kinds of appetizers and it’s a lot of food !!! So delish !!

Used to love this place. Food is not as exceptional. Everything is overdrenched in butter and server pushed way too much food with somewhat pretentious tone. Good for bar but dining room has lost its appeal. Don't think I'll be back for a meal.

We came here for brunch as a family of four. We were inexplicably seated at a communal table despite many empty four tops.
The pastries were excellent, the cheese and bacon turnover, the pop tart, and the danishes were delicious. The sticky bun was very doughy in the middle but tasty on the edges. The croque madame was good, also.
The service was very spotty, my husband’s coffee was only lukewarm, the server kept forgetting items that my children ordered (they spoke clearly and said please), the French toast was undercooked and way too eggy which I think was on purpose, and I asked for boneless white meat for my chicken and waffles and got a drumstick. Oh well. We know it’s a dinner place so we will try again for a different meal and a better experience.

Tasting Kitchen is reliably delicious and delightful! Always choose the Tasting Menu, as the chef consistently delivers different, interesting and delectable alternatives with wine pairings that are excellent as well! I hope they remain subtle and subdued, as it is challenging to appeal to young as well as mature palettes, to be innovative and balanced as they always are - congrats and thank you!

I enjoyed the space, a little dark but nice for a special occasion. Salads were delicious, the pastas were okay but nothing extraordinary, especially given the new restaurant down the road that makes handmade pasta. Nice service, good wine.

The place was extremely active and fun and busy. Bar scene plus restaurant scene. Our 6pm reservation was exactly on time. Waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. You only need to try 3 courses as they really give you more than 3 dishes....it's dishes within dishes and loads of food. extremly good!

The food was really good! The only thing I didn't love was the scallop crudo, wasn't exciting, I thought I thought it needed more flavor, and the pieces were cut a bit too thick for my liking. It's pretty pricey, appetizers are over $20. We both got pasta entrees, both very good. They have a fun cocktail menu. Service is good and quick. My biggest complaint would have to be how extremely loud is it inside, you borderline have to shout to talk to the person across the table from you.

I would be happy to review this property, but am getting frustrated at the way in which this site operates. I can never tell whether I am booking through open table or not, even if I am directed to your site and as a result I never seem to be awarded any dining points for booking.

Abbot Kinney is a great strolling street. We thought we made a good lunch choice. Unfortunately, we sat too close to the music and I missed a lot of our conversation. The menu is interesting but I wasn't thrilled with most of the choices. My chicken salad sandwich was the greasiest and messiest one I've ever had, a two napkins sandwich, and I've enjoyed other croque madames more than this one. I would definitely go back but I'll pay more attention to what I order. We enjoyed the ambiance.
